MY 7, rev limiter off, dyno'd at 300hp, 187 top speed :sly:

187mph from 300bhp in a 7 series?

Actually, he doesn't say what measurement the 187 is, so I'd believe 187km/h....

Well my grandfather's garage consists of a Corvette Z06 '03, Corvette ZR1 '90, and a 4.0 litre Jaguar S-Type '05. He also just sold a Porsche Boxter S of his. My uncle also owns a '63 Corvette Stingray, plus 2 other american muscle cars (last I checked), a very old Pontiac GTO and an equally old Camaro, both self-restored. My 2nd cousin also owns an Audi A8L, Ferrari F430, and a BMW X5. Also, another uncle of mine has a supercharged Miata and a Lotus Elise.

The sad thing is that I'm not making any of this up. Unfortunately the only ones that don't live in Connecticut or California (I'm in southeastern PA) are my grandparents, but I will get a picture of his garage when I can.

Oh, and there is an explanation: My family is the owner of an auto parts business, and my grandfather's sister's husband started the National Inquirer.
YES I DO REALISE HOW LUDICROUS THAT ALL SOUNDS. But... it's true. I could show you a picture of my family tree but that probably wouldn't be of much use.

I have seen people use this thread to purposely make a ludicrous claim (not its purpose) and the mods have used it to a degree as the place for people to prove their claims.

This is the first I have ever seen someone use it to put out a potentially ludicrous claim so that they can prove it in good faith.

I don't know if that is proper use of the thread (although I don't disagree with it), but at least you know and admit what you are saying sounds crazy and put it in here until you could prove it.

I was especially impressed with his ludicrous claim of being connected to the masters of ludicrous claims, the National Inquirer

Whether true or not, it's still funny. :D

I don't like to toot my own horn ,but I think I could do better. I think I have a good feel for the limits of an F1 car. :D

Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its F1 time!

Maybe even a "pics or (agonizing) death" policy. That would scare them... :sly:

Very hard to police. I, for instance, can give you certified photographic evidence that I own a Porsche Panamera. Or a Jaguar XJ-R. Or any number of cars I can get my hands on for more than a day. (and that's a lot of cars)

I can also provide photographic evidence that I own my own porn-friendly secluded resort. (And there's some truth to it... I own perhaps 1/40th of the place). As for the porn-friendliness, I have not come across any videographic evidence as of yet.

It's enough to ask for evidence and let the guy retract, or provide falsified pictures for our further amusement.

Me? I simply ignore.

I'd like to see evidence that he got the TL up on two wheels... twice... in succession... or maybe he meant her Kombi...

Lets just start with proof his dad has a 08' 997!

Then we can switch to the "drifting part" and finally to the rest.....

It has always been treated as a "posting falsehood" offense. No problem if it's a joke, but when it isn't...

👍 about a million times.

I really don't understand why people get so bent out of shape over some clown making up ridiculous stories. Laughing about it or simply ignoring it seems a better response than demanding pictures or ban. I find it to be much more funny than annoying.

Either that, or I just don't take the internet as seriously as most.

Both true. While I will happily prosecute any such cases, I'd rather not be the first to jump and say: "LIARLIARLIARLIAR!", because sometimes, the other guy isn't (and I moderated such a case not a long time ago).

Of course... the chance of this one being anywhere remotely near truthful are about as good as my chances of doing a barrel roll in my car and driving away. (Well... I did half a barrel roll, pushed the car the rest of the way, and drove away...)

to Eric:

I'll post proof of the Porsche when I can. and I half lied about the TL... really, I just lost control, and the TL wobbled like crazy, making it feel like it was on 2 wheels.

So you can drift a powerful, twitchy RR car but can't produce a controlled rotation of an FF car with a longer wheel base?

Right...

997TT is AWD broski. But I do agree with your initial idea.

My bad, I always tend to space out on all the Porsche nomenclature. Though those AWD systems are only like, what, 15% to the front? Still, would make power over and control of the slide even more difficult I'd feel. I find turbo AWD anything much more difficult to hold any sort of angle with versus RWD. A lot more fighting with the steering and power to get it to be smooth.

Also, never call me "broski" again. Got it? Good.

Sorry broseph, Ive never driven a porsche before but from what Ive heard from owners of AWD porsches they are quite docile when sideways and want to straighten out and go into understeer.
