@ FP, watch the name calling! And if you're wondering where your post is ... it is in the bin.

Rob is a mod now as well? I've been away from quite a bit, apparently

I'd like to say 'Congratulations', but you're probably quite busy with that. 👍

187mph from 300bhp in a 7 series?

Actually, he doesn't say what measurement the 187 is, so I'd believe 187km/h....

A few pages ago, FerrariMarv claimed that his 7 series will go 187. However, since he didn't specify whether it was kph or mph, I think we let that one slide, however in this thread, the same guy strikes again, this time including the magical thing call units:

I like the m3 in question, and quickly picked it up when i saw it in the USD( I like the 05 m5 better though)

E30, E38, B12. AS DLC:tup:

In real life I drive a BMW 99 740iL(e38), its flashed and dyno'd to do 187mph delimited.

i'm in a car club; which allows me a chance to meet other bmw car clubs from all over the country. I know someone with the same car you want(e46) only difference is my friend put a mustang engine in his:nervous:(google it). I know another guy with a e46 but not a m3; its a 02 318. He put a 04 m3 engine in it..

so you have a few choices as far as bmw's go, they are highly interchangeable. I met a guy who put a e38 engine in a e30:drool:
and I would like to put a 2004 m5 engine(s62) in my car=425hp

first thing I would ask if your considering buying ANY bmw 95 and newer..

how handy and comfortable are you working on your own car? if not; you need a wing and a prayer, and a very experienced BMW tech; you can call your own.

Its a known fact that when you have a luxury vehicle in mint condition they can see you coming. an oil change cost me around $200(need the tools to reset computer in order to do myself)

Remember most of the time you cant put oem e46 parts on a M3, but you can always put M3 parts on e46, if that makes any sence

Pardon the rant, I LOVE bmw's:tup:

Bolded by me for emphasis. I call BS.

That may not be BS - he said the car was dyno'd at 187mph, not measured at 187mph on the road. On a dyno the effects of wind and rolling resistance is nil so the speed is only limited by the gearing, as opposed to a real-world speed measurement where it will be considerably lower, especially in a car as big as a 7-series (probably around 150).

Had he said he'd seen an indicated 187mph on the road then yeah, that would be BS.

(which is exactly what Keef said on the previous page, lol)

You need to make him aware that he's been called out in this thread so he has a chance to verify his claims, link this thread into that thread so he know's the score.

Hey...I'm in that thread! I remember his post...

Speaking of BMWs...is it too much to claim that my stock 335i would hit 155mph?

My stock 1968 Camaro Z28 would only hit 128mph.
My stage 1 Suzuki Bandit 600 (with luggage) would also hit only 128 mph.

However, my laydown kart with Yamaha RZ350 motor would hit 155mph.

Wow, I have never seen a laydown kart. I can imagine a 350 2 stroker easy doing 155mph, mmmm.

I once trashed a GSXR600 and was considering building a kart around the 100bhp engine but did not bother in the end.

350cc is the maximum displacement allowed in sanctioned kart racing. A good RZ350 will get at least 65hp. The most powerful karts use ex-GP 250's, with over 100hp on tap. These are rarely seen in laydowns.

Yup, I also imagine the old RS 250/RGV250 motors are popular with karts, road version are 50-60bhp stock.

Darn a GP spec 250 motor making 100bhp must be pretty insane in a kart.

Well, they must weigh 475 lbs with driver at weigh-in after the race. So the power to weight ratio is favorable. What with downforce, sticky tires and being so small, we straightline corners cars would have to slow for.

Laptimes can be simply unbelievable.

I find this perfectly reasonable... hot hatches skirting under 250hp are capable of 150mph, a car like the 3, with better aerodynamics and more power would definitely be able to run into its limiter.

Well...ive never hit 155 in it. Did hit 130 on the way to Vegas (hypothetically).

That one's a story for the "Fastest speed in your car" thread... and remember, we don't need to know where you did it, because it's (hypothetically) illegal. My little 2 liter Protege hypothetically hit 140 mph a few months ago. Screaming at the redline and drinking oil at about a quart every fifteen minutes...

Kart discussion is interesting... but perhaps it should go in a thread? Those lay-downs look wicked. Oh... forgot to ask about transferring pics from Apple from s12ken for you, Dotini. I'll give you an e- later.

Thanks for that, Niky!

There is actually a karting thread in the motorsports forum, currently it's hiding on page 7, I think.

If its only 300 HP then it should be very easy. I had never driven it before either and managed to get a 911 GT2 around in a pretty decent time without any major spins or anything (blind corner about 1km before the carousel is a real pain in the ass though).

This was the original post, another member had just asked if it would be possible to drive a 300bhp car there in real life after only driving it in GT.

Saying that he got round in a decent time without spinning suggests at speed to me.

Well, then yes, I think proof should be posted as well. 300Bhp is more than enough to get yourself into trouble at the 'Ring.

Anyone that claims 300hp isn't that much has never driven a car with 300hp. The 240hp in my M3 is more than enough to get into trouble with, or even my old MR2 with 180hp.

My dads lotus with 150hp can reach over 130mph. So a car with 300hp could easily reach 155mph, just watch top gear when they get old german sports saloons and richards old 3 series gets up to 140mph, and that was way under 300hp.

Well, I messaged Sandy106 to let him know - just in case he missed my post in the forums. He says he'll post his pics later, we'll have to wait & see if he does.

According to his public profile he is 107 years old. That means his mother is around 140 years old. Im sure she can save up enough money for the porsche. :)

ok kidding aside

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions but I highly doubt that his claim is true. But if it is true then I am sorry.
