I'd definitely like it on the PS3. C'mon, one GT game on the console in an entire generation - that's sad. And as soon as you start talking PS4, well...it took them 5 years to make one for the PS3 and god only knows how much longer it will take them with the PS4's much improved graphics. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was ten years before they were done.

Needless to say it's extremely hard to stay interested in a two year old game and the thought of waiting years and years for the next installment is just ridiculous. Gran Turismo is is no way shape or form so superior to other racing games that there's any reason for these absurd development cycles.

Which is the whole point of those saying it's best if GT6 is on PS4, because if you want PD diverting resources to make GT6 for PS3 now, it'll likely take even longer to see GT6 on PS4, and Sony don't want that at all.

Plus there's murmurings that MS might show Xbox Next early next year... if FM5 is shown, all the while GT6 is stuck on old hardware, it's not gonna look great.

want it on ps3 and it'll be on ps3

We probably will know in less than a year from now on.

The other thread got closed and I think this thread should follow. At the moment, we can only speculate about the platform GT6 will be on.

You do realise how many times that pattern has been mentioned, right?

It may be a logical pattern but you have to remember that GT1 and GT3 didn't take so long/come out so late into the console cycle. Well GT1 sort of did but that was different, it was the first game. GT5 came out nearly five years into the PS3s life.

As much as I personally want another PS3 game I'd say the likelyhood is getting very, very low, lower by the day. PD are as quiet as ever and GT6 hasn't been announced. The next major game show is E3 and everyone in the business expects the next generation consoles will be announced then. It would make no sense to reveal a new console and then announce your biggest exclusive franchise has a new game coming out on the old console.

This. But I would prefer a PS4 release nowadays. Yes i said that i don't care, but i need new hardware with a huge racing game as one of the first games for a new console.

I think Forza 5 will be a game for the Next Xbox so Sony can't create a GT6 for PS3 and release it in 2013-2014 in my opinion.

We don't know on which plattform they'll release GT6, but as the time progress PS4 is more realistic.

The whole GT vs FM thing is overstated. They were never really direct competition in sales and they have their own agenda on how they help their perspective consoles. That said, it doesn't matter what console FM5 will release on. It won't/shouldn't affect when GT6 will release.

Keep in mind, we still got quiet a bit of serious games still yet to come in 2013. MGS Ground Zero, Last of US, FFvsXIII, Beyond Two Souls, GTAV to name a few. Now, if we don't see GT6 in 2013, only then will I start to doubt a PS3 release. Actually, I think we can all pretty much agree on that.

Yes but it could affect which new console some people buy. Sure it won't be a large number that can be swayed between consoles purely based on the quality of a racing game but I know it probably will for me. If FM5 on the next Xbox is a more desirable product than GT6 it could take some potential buyers over to Xbox.

So yes, they don't directly compete but they certainly do compete on a certain level.

Yes but they're all announced, some a long time ago. I said it before but I think TGS last month was the last real chance for a GT6 PS3 announcement, it was the perfect platform. Now when could they announce it, E3? With the PS4?

In no uncertain terms, people bought the PS3 for GT5. They did the same with the PSP for GT4:M. So if GT6 is announced alongside the PS4 as a PS4 game, then the ball is in Microsoft's court to announce FM5 on the next system.

Will the amount of people who will jump ship then be huge numbers? Not at all. Don't believe it for a second. But, after the end result of GTPSP and GT5 (where people bought the systems when the games were announced and waited and waited and waited for them to come out, to say nothing about the perceived quality of the end result) will people stop and take pause and wonder whether they will automatically buy a PS4 to play the next GT game? Absolutely.

I could possibly see a GTvita at next e3 with Ps4 announcement. Leaving GT6 in the Loop keeping everyone at bay :D lol.

That pretty much sums up where I am. I bought a ps3 for media streaming and gt5. It was my first foray into the gt series, but I heard physics were supposed to be awesome and it stands alone for night racing on a console. That tipped me to the ps3.

I love the physics and the racing (especially time change), but I don't know if it's a system seller for me (just my opinion). I still like it and play, but it feels like a lot of cool cars with little organization (like why is an Audi r10 lmp racing a hill climb car around le mans), and not enough to do with them (i love a livery editor).

Now if they did a gt6 up on ps3 with all the trimmings, that would probably put me in line to a possible purchase on the next system.

Bottom line is: this is my first exposure to the gt series. I do like gt5, but not enough to get brand loyalty out of me yet.

i wanna gt6 on ps3, if you remeber polyphony release two games for console (excluding gt concept , gt4 prologue and gt5 prologue) , so:

GT1 GT2 PSX
GT3 GT4 PS2
GT5 GT6 PS3

btw maybe it will be release for ps4

Ideally I would like to see a PC version but we all know that is not going to happen. Hopefully it will be for the PS3 but I would not be surprised to see if require a PS4.

Considering current Sony Orbis rumors support a holiday 2013 release... i think it likely GT6 could be a PS4 release title.

If the new console is coming out in a year... there is no time to promote, hype, and release the next GT before the new console drops.

gt4?

I've never figured this out; so many people are looking at this magic "generational release schedule" for GT games, yet GT5 has already broken it. Sure there was two games in each generation so far but look how late GT5 was in it's generation's cycle - there's hardly any room for a new game in it's generation, especially if the console generations seem to be lasting for about 6-8 years. We're pretty much already at the 6 year mark for the PS3, which is the approximate generation length for the PS1 and 2. I'm expecting the next generation of Playstation to be announced at this upcoming E3, or other major convention. When it's being released, I have no clue.

You're right, GT5 has also had the recent "re-releases", so that's showing they're trying to drag the game out. I wouldn't be surprised if they repackage it again next year "GT5: Final Edition" if you will, they keep their massive PS3 customers happy and keep online support for maybe up to 2 years into the transitional period to the new console.

Don't hate me for this, but the game would make a lot more revenue if it also released on X-Box. I know it most likely won't though.

Well of course but it will NEVER happen, well not as long as Polyphony Digital are a first party PlayStation development team, just as the opposite is true for Turn 10.

It would be so good if Xbox owners could play GT and we could play FM on our PS3s. It's just like world peace.

But, the world is cruel, rough and mad. :( It will never happen.

^^ It would be nice to see that much of ram on the ps4. I wonder how the cars would look on the PS4, since Kaz already claimed that the premiums are future proof. But they need to do more than just modeling cars though.

Yea, the PS3 premium cars should require only texture and lighting upgrades from now on (since their sections are all modeled separately). So, any car that was made using the PS3's capabilities should be future-proof. That's a good thing, because starting now, the car list can only be increased. No more will we have to call cars standard or premium (though technically, the PS4 quality cars should benefit more from being originally created on the PS4).

This IGN article has me officially torn.
