Update: EGX (Euro Gamer Expo) have responded and said they cannot host because their floor isn't open 24h and to do so would be a security nightmare what with all the potential sensitive pre-release materials that developers may have there.

@haitch40 & @Dean, sorry, will get it done. Trying to work out who is willing to join and who is just commenting on how, why or when or if not they can join is a bit difficult. I think I just confused myself with that sentence.

Ok then just to be clear.

I am willing to do anything although my first choice would be to drive.
I am available whenever.
I am available to do a wide range of things before the event as well such as promotion or planning.

Has been suggested before but I, personally, have very little knowledge of the workings there and would have trouble even constructing an enquiry email.

As a venue it'd be amazing, but qactually getting a place there (conference room, outdoor gazebo or whatever) might be a challenge.

Sure sure, no problems, Shem. 👍 I also can say now, that my finance will allow me to travel to the UK, in 2015, for sure. I'd say I'm 95% sure I'll be there. :D

Random suggestion:

On the sponsor side, you guys could contact a car brand or your´s country representative and use one of theirs cars, maybe something new they want to promote....
Cars brand have huge marketing budgets and if this event have enough exposure maybe someone *cuf... nissan cuf* will be willing to jump aboard...

my 2 cents.....

Wasn't it discussed to use a Mazda roadster as it wouldn't be too much trouble to keep under control but is fun? Do Mazda do anything like that. You see Nissan and Toyota all over the place but I rarely see Mazda.

Mazda MX5 TC was the car that was suggested. Nice car, fun to drive yet has loads of grip and not super fast.

Which track would we use? Le Mans?

As long as it isn't Tsukuba, 36 minutes of that would make me want to cry, let alone 36 hours

From what I remember Nurbergring 24h.
This is all from casual chat in the infield though so it may all change.

Since you have to do this for 36 hours, somewhere relatively easy to drive round this require minimal concentration, and probably easy-to-drive cars that require minimal concentration too.

You've got to find the track inbetween easy (Tsukuba) and entertaining (nurburgring) as both of them will exhaust you mentally.

What would be better a real world track to demonstrate how far games have come or a classic GT track to pay homage to the game we're using.

Autumn ring is fun for a GT track or Spa maybe for world one. No way I could do a rally or a City track for 36 hours.

Le Sarthe is probably the most suitable because it's fun, has relevance and is fairly easy to drive even in the fastest cars. The Nurb is very narrow and bumpy without many areas that open up. At La Sarthe in a Subaru 360 you could relax for several minutes as it chugs down the Mulsanne!

Nurb isn't hard at all in the MX5 as it is so slow and has so much grip but it is still fun.

@Daniel you can't stop and switch tracks iirc.

I was initially under the impression this would be involve top-level race cars. But this is about time, not distance then it doesn't matter how slow the car is I guess, though if everyone got top pick from one car from the ten slowest cars in the game it would get boring very fast as they would split apart quickly and it would take about four hours to lap each other.

Nurburgring would be fun in the MX-5, but there is only one place that you could (sort of) relax every eight minutes or so.

Le Mans has several places per lap where you can munch on a sandwhich/power nap, whilst still remaing fun to drive.

On the other hand, I really like London Reverse :mischievous:

That would be quite stressful and VERY tiring on the neck and shoulders and, yes, the slow ones would be boring.

My personal picks would be the MX-5 TC (fun, easy to drive, not massively fast) at Spa (endurance track, Kemmel Straight to rest every couple of minutes), but it may be that there's something we can pick relevant to the location we'll be using - if Gaydon HMC is available, something British like the Elise 111 race car, perhaps.

Silverstone could be an option? That is a nice track.

If we were to get the chance to use Silverstone as a venue I doubt we would get much choice in the matter.

Since I'm not really wanting to drive I don't have a lot of say in the matter, but La Sarthe would be a nice track. I've never really liked Silverstone, it's too flat for my tastes, but that could be me.

My issue with Le Mans is with slow cars it could become boring if it takes ages to do each straight.

I might be interested to help in any way, but it depends on the location...
