I think the same about the Redbulls to be honest. As Famine said it'll be tiring on neck and shoulders with fast cars, or so I understood it. :D

Try it for 2 hours and let me know how you feel...

And I'm really old. It'd be like I was Neymared.

In which case, can I recommend this:

We can all drive at 30mph, and when I hit the dashboard you come to a stop as quickly and safely as you can.

I'm almost certain to be in a coma before we get to 30mph.
Why not Senna's F3? It's super gripy, it's fun and it's fast enough. F3 and Spa would be a match made in heaven
Thirty six hours on a wheel.

THIRTY SIX.

Super grippy = you gon' die of fatigue before hour 5.

Vauxhall? :yuck:

I hate all Vauxhalls with a passion.

Also what is it with some of these suggestions? Even if your arms are not dead you are going to be damn tired at the end. You need something that won't punish you too much for a mistake hence the MX5TC.

I'm sure you'll be allowed to switch tracks. AFAIK there's no way to keep a single race going for 30 hours on NFS Shift, and no doubt the Mario Kart WR had to do a few map changes.

I think having a few different tracks could help alleviate the boredom as well. 36 hours on one track is pretty insane. What about 12 on Spa, 12 on Sarthe and maybe 12 on Bathurst? The Ring would be a bit too tedious if you're in MX-5s.

Something relatively compliant so you're not fighting it for 36 hours, but not something so slow it becomes tedious after a few laps, and an interesting circuit with a decent straight (to give you time to take a sip of drink or bite of a snack)

I'd be up for the same track, or different ones, whatever.

Sounds like you're looking for an Aston Martin V12 Vantage? It's not a race car, but it handles really nicely and there seems to be enough compliance in it (I don't have a wheel so I can't say for sure).

To clear a few things up:

Switching tracks means the race isn't continuous, it's then a series and not a single race. One track throughout.

Which track? Well, it needs to be an endurance track. Le Mans would be the ideal candidate because it isn't too narrow, nowhere is too far from the pits as is the case with Nurbergring, and it has time change (and weather) which I think is important in such a long event. Spa and Silverstone could also be options but I feel Silverstone is a little short for an endurance race.

For me I'm keen to have the weather, time change, damage, tyre wear and fuel consumption to as realistic a setting as possible but that's all up for debate of course.

The car? Should we run a one-spec? It would hand itself to better racing and, again, add some spice to the competition. If we're racing for a prize then having the a same-make race would be fairer for all. If not then cars of a fairly equal performance level would do.

I think most of you will agree that anything above a touring car will be murder on the wheel for all that time. The MX-5 TC would be ideal but this is also something we can all come to a decision on. If you all really want to see craziness I'll do it in a Fiat 500, but the charity fundraising would have to get steam-rolling before I even attempt to drive myself insane doing that.

In reality there is probably a large choice of vehicles that could be used but we're so far from the event now that all we can do is get an idea for ourselves and find something to fit the preferences; fun, not too punishing, enough power not to be dull, good tyre wear and above all no vacuum cleaner sound. :scared:

So looking at what we have here can we get some votes on the track & car?

Post below your preferred combination (obviously the car and track will be finalised closer to the actual race).

I'm going to vote MX-5s at Le Mans. (or Fiat 500s at Nurburgring if anyone is feeling insane. )

I'm thinking Le Mans, but I'd have to take a look through the car list to find a good suggestion.

The new Redbull at Côte d'Azur.

I joke, I joke, I liked the idea that famine had with the MX5 TC at Spa.

Again as a non-driver, Senna's F3 at Spa

Mmm.... I bet the fuel economy on that thing is marvellous.

Seems like the little Mazda is choice at the moment and Spa or Le Mans the next choice.

I just did a little testing, and the Mazda is great around Spa. If we were to use Le Mans, we'd need a little more power, as in a car which tops out at 130mph-ish it is just a little bit dull around there.

From memory I know the Mazda needs a transmission stretch to stop it falling foul of the LM's straights. Isn't the straight at Spa about 3km though?

Also, does Spa have dynamic time settings like LM?

The gearing is plenty long enough even for Le Mans (it'll be fine even with a little drafting) but the car runs out of puff at 126-ish. I think the Kemmel straight is about 750m long, which is fine for the Mazda.

Yeah, Spa has all the day/night jazz too.

Well either one will be a good choice then which I will leave up to the community. A bit later on I'll PM everyone involved asking their opinion.

As for the car, it looks like we've settled on the Mazda MX-5 (TC, if the hire rigs have it in garage!).

I don't know Spa as well as LeMans but I'd have 36 hours to learn every inch of it, including most of the gravel traps and walls I'd imagine.

@Daniel, I'm not sure , I don't own '6, but I know that on 5 (in arcade mode at least so I assume online play too) if you pulled the cursor all the way to the left it would offer infinite laps.

Can somebody with the time do some testing to see what optionswe have regarding laps?

Arcade has infinite laps in 6, but I'm not sure about online. We may have to run in practice mode the whole time.
