Ongoing PSN outages

I just hope it is maintenance and not the hackers.

It's definitely not just maintenance as Sony themselves are unsure when the problem will be fixed and by the wording on their updates it seems like they're pretty unsure about what the cause is.

I wonder if this is connected?

Amazon fault takes down websites.

I thought this at first as well, however Sony has its on servers and, as far as I know, hosts and serves its own content (with some outside contractors)... But Using some networking trickery I cannot find any sort of collaboration with Amazon... However Amazon does A LOT more than meets the eye and has the sort of coverage and quantity that makes this a possibility, or perhaps they share some sort of secure authentication and connection backbone routers...

On a lighter note... How is everyone celebrating my imaginary friend Jesus' 2nd Birthday? That's right not only is he the son of god (allegedly), my imaginary friend (arguably a greater honor), AND he gets two birthdays!??!?!?! Sounds like this guy has it all man... A chic or two on the side that no one ever talks about, 12 doods following him around asking to wash/ kiss his feet, hang out with me etc... perhaps I shall ask him to fix this PSN issue, when I get around to it.. Oh and he told me that Sony nerfed their Warehouse of mainframe servers which in turn, borked their regional servers so they decided to restore from a backup and do some other housekeeping and patching... Oh and he also says that your credit card numbers are in the hands of some Ukrainian and Chinese con-men who used Sony's lax security policies (anything for expediency and to save a buck), so dont be suprised when those adult "devices" and hotel rooms at L'Hotel du Paris show up... He tried to tell you to only use comps and small denomination gift cards... have a good Easterrrrr...Jeez (thats what i call him cause we are bros) 2nd birthday... and remember, in case of rapture this g25 is up for grabs... A Sallam Alekum! my brothas!

Jesus, a better magician than Houdini. Its his resurrection that is celebrated not his second birthday. Not that I care.

But ya, I can't find this video people are talking about. If you find it post it so I can laugh at a 12 year olds impersonation of an Anon video lol. Im off to bed.

Later dood.. me too. But when PSN is back up after Anon stops or whatever... :banghead: im still gonna wipe the floor with u at Suzuka 👍 I LOVE EMOCONS!!

Just fired up my PS3, PSN still down. I'd go on my 360 but I don't have gold. Long Live PSN!:)

Not likely, that is related to Amazon's "Cloud" system so only affects sites or content hosted within there, and I highly doubt Sony have their entire PSN network hosts within the Amazon "cloud".

care to explain? especially why they wouldnt use them or a contractor to employ (or deploy) a secure service, tied to your identity, where one could... say... i dont know.... save games on a "cloud" read centeralized server. People dont realize how intertwined these big companies are... Sony and especially Amazon are huge, and I guarantee they share at least part of the Backbone infrastructure and/or contract through more than a few companies. I'm not saying its likely... but it makes a heck of a lot more sense than some group of loosely afiliated "hackers" taking down A huge service like PSN for any sort of duration. Big companies plan for that.

I'd like to string up every hacker by the testes, prepubescent knob jockey's they all are and are a waste of oxygen....ffs. Attack a target by all means but do NOT 🤬 things up for millions of people. Tossers the lot of them....ooh I can't get a homebrew working on my PS3-PSP.....so effing what. Gits, If the US military was like these knobs they'd have nuked Iraq and Afghanistan, not caring about catastrophic collateral damage.

any 12-year old can go on 4chan and or Irc and say ridiculous things... for instance there are similar posts in the PSN forum... Funny thing is the 12 year-old can be right about being part of anon and the people who are somehow posting on the psn forum to "completely wipe your hard drive, create a new psn user user and enter 4.4.4.4 in the DNS settings" and be right as well... eventually... point is bored kids who are home from school and sneaking on to 4chan shouldn't be taken seriously for the same reason that mr. reset your PS3 to stock, because logically, neither makes any sense.

:banghead: I give up. :banghead:

the real question is when the hell are they actually gonna have it fixed? way over 24 hours here so far... (more than 48 actually)

when they made their announcement is that 24 hours from the announcement or from the start of the outages?

PSN is free so it´s ok imo.
If hackers did it it´s not ok, because I think Sony has any right to sue them.

PSN is certainly not free, you paid for it when you bought your PS3, you pay for it when you buy a PS3 game, in fact you pay for it when you buy any Sony branded PS3 product. Microsoft are up front about their Xbox live services and ask their customers to pay an annual fee for using them, Sony just hide the costs within their products because free online gaming sounds better. Don't think for one second that Sony hasn't taken into account the cost of running PSN when they're pricing their products.

That Amazon story was simply to do with the server that holds cloud content, so sites and content immediatley hosted by it. I highly doubt that a corporation the size of Sony would hold their entire server/network setup/access ability in a cloud system like that. Add to that, the Amazon story mentioned that the Amazon Cloud outage was breif and was already back up, PSN is not. Amazon DDoS, not likely.

I would love it if Sony told us a bit more on their progress as well.
