So, I guess we really should all blame this guy?
Am I wrong?

Been taking sooooo many pictures in gt5 in this down time... also out from 12pm till night tomorrow so i am just hoping the psn is up and running by sunday so i can kill people in battlefield bad company 2 :)

Ok, you may be happy with that, I am unsatisfied and justifiably so. Just because your happy and willing to be kept in the dark doesn't mean others have to be.

It seems evident Sony does not give a rat's behind for their customers.

It's about time Sony said something:

Sony's officially blaming hacker(s)

There, you happy now? What happens to internal Sony operations is their business unless they choose to tell you otherwise. Or, they could have just waited to update everyone after the situation was over. If I were Sony I would keep my mouth shut to exactly what happened as letting the whole world know you have an access hole in your network is only going to make things worse.

Personally, I don't care if Sony updates us or not. I know they are working to fix the problem, I don't need a PR release to tell me that. Some people just feel like Sony has to write them a personal message or they aren't satisfied with their efforts. That will never change though.

Exactly.

BFBC2 also chews up most of my online time. Never. Gets. Old.

At least an investigation is going on and the servers are shut down (assuming they're fine) so now it's a matter of how good their investigation team is...go go go go go :D

Just seen the update on PSN eu blog. So it was hackers all along eh? Just like everybody thought.
This had better be fixed when I get back from work, I've got 3 episodes of TUF to watch and want to do some remote bobbing while I watch lol.

Na, just kidding, it's not the end of the world, at least Sony has finally gave us a bit more info. Either that or it's great marketing on Sony's part, I mean, everyones gonna be mad at them hackers now.

So has anyone actually checked the network lately or are we all on here waiting and expecting someone else to do it? I don't feel like turning on my ps3 for disappointment lol.

lol i was thinking the same. but im sure there is some1 out there crazy enough to keep trying to log in every now and then. with tools like twitter and facebook i am sure once the network comes around it will be no time till everyone is back on

You can just check online without even bothering with going on the PS3

http://us.gran-turismo.com and just hit "GT5 MY HOME" in the top right corner. If you click it and you can proceed with Log in..then the servers are back up. Otherwise this huge notice will say Server maintenance is currently being performed.

Cheers

Yea, I've been checking in every 5 hours or so. Going to bed now, better luck tomorrow I guess. Kind of sucks, I'm in the middle of a 4 day weekend, wouldn't mind a little racing.

Who says they HAVE to tell you anything?

Just be patient and wait it out. Not like your life depends on it.

Their millions of loyal customers who spend an obscene amount of money buying their products each day/month/year. The same customers who could quite simply buy another console because they feel like they're being messed around by a company that seems it doesn't really care. That's who says they HAVE to tell us something.

I think you are confusing HAVE with WANT.

Just saying. Sony can do whatever the hell they want and disclose whatever the hell they want. They already have your money, they don't care that much, and they sure as hell don't want to say the problem is X when it could be Y, because then people will just bitch about that.

Really? Over an online service that you're possibly not paying for? Seriously?

And even then, they still don't have to tell you/us/any individual one person a damn thing. It won't be the end of world; what are you going to do, sue them?

If they don't want to lose sales then they have to keep the customers happy, things like this can seriously affect company sales, yes they can technically do what they want but that's not really the best attitude to take business-wise, especially at a time like this when incidents like these are already posing a threat to the companys value.

Quite convenient for Sony that 'anons' attacked their psn servers earlier this month so they have someone to blame for their own mistakes. Instead of getting pissed on Sony like people should, people are getting pissed on anonymous. Ddos attacks dont do any damage to servers, they just shut down traffick temporarely by requesting more data than the server can handle. Once the attacks stop, the server will work again.

I'm guessing that the servers are down for maintenance because it's just been discovered that the psn servers stores all the our user data, like credit card information and passwords, unencrypted.

Ok psn Fans, you were asking why anonymous attacking Sony: Here is discovery of how Sony extracts data from your PS3s. They DO NOT ENCRYPT your credit card information, and the following shows how anyone with access to the servers can see and use your credit information for fraud, hackers or sony employees alike.

creditCard.paymentMethodId=_"CC_COMPANY"_&
creditCard.holderName=EXAMPLENAME&
creditCard.cardNumber=_"1234567890123456"_&
creditCard.expireYear=2012&creditCard.expireMonth=_"2"_&
creditCard.securityCode=_"123"_&
creditCard.address.address1=_"EXAMPLESTREET"_%2024%20&creditCard.address.city=_"EXAMPLECITY_"%20&
creditCard.address.province=_"EXAMPLEREGION_"%20&
creditCard.address.postalCode=_"12345_"%20

Everything contained within _"example"_ in the reality is replaced with your actual information. It would be very easy to write this information down, and to exploit it for credit fraud on the internet. They also do not encrypt your PSN accounts.

serviceid=IV0001-NPXS01001_00&
loginid=example@mail.com&
password=examplepassword&
first=true&
consoleid=EXAMPLEID123

therefore they are also at risk. Sony has before implemented rootkits into music cds that installed rootkits into your pcs that opened up vulnerabilities hackers used to violate your privacy and to extract whatever information they wanted. And now they have done it again through irresponsible programming methods. It is only by our right to circumvent these consoles can we discover things Sony cannot afford to know about. This is your rights being violated, by the true hackers. Sony.
