And remembering though Fanges, I was on the outside of you and I heard you shout, "Where are you?" And my clever response in the heat of the moment was, "Right here!". :dunce::lol: I wasn't trying to be obtuse--just concentrating to the point that the words, "on your right" didn't come out. :)

That was amuzing. I was just a few car lengths back at the time, and saw the whole thing. That was a fun evening of racing guys. 👍

Ok Jason, set it up and we will do it sometime next weekend, probably sunday! 👍

Not sure about creating a thread I think it would only be needed if this kind of "FC/GT5P" challenges were made by several people and I only see you and me interested in them.

I was talking about this sunday. Either we meet during the day or we do like we did last time (late night sunday for me/ early morning monday for you).

My pick remains the F430/ Suzuka Event because there's no tuning allowed, so both cars are exactly equal, like it happens in FC.

OK Then, same time as last time.

But last time it was late saturday your time & sunday morning mine, i am fine if it better for you on sunday / monday.

I'm pretty sure it was sunday night/monday morning. If you notice, I posted the write up monday morning for me (monday evening/night for you).

So you want to start again with GT5P or do we reverse the order and start with FC?

had a good race with two or two gtp members today. namely GTP_SimcoeAce & GTP_Lofasz. i wasn't sure if the other people were members here too, as they weren't sporting the gtp prefix. but i found the online is so much smoother compared to before. hope to see you guys again!

Nice racing with you guys. Yes, we eventually had quite a few GTPers in the lobby including Hun, mhm66, waynejones, Zedux & maybe some others I can't recall. There were quite a few races with 8 cars - I really should have switched to 10 minute races to make it fairer, but (as I tried to explain) because of the weird centering issue with my G25, after a few laps my wheel ends up basically upside-down (I have to reconnect the wheel after every race to re-center it). :grumpy:

The lag didn't seem to be too bad most of the time. I actually had a race with only 4 or 5 cars where I came up behind & passed Lofasz & there was absolutely no frame rate stutter at all. I think that is the first time I have experienced that - it really makes a big difference - let's hope SCC works like that.

Excellent racing with mhm66 & ENERGIYA last night. That first race at Mt Tremblant was outstanding: there were at least 5 or 6 lead changes during the race. 👍

I don't know if I'm slower because of my screwed-up wheel or mhm66 & ENERGIYA have become faster with more time & practice, but I was having a hard time keeping up on most of the tracks. :nervous:

Well, I'm sad to say, over the course of the last few weeks, there seems to be fewer and fewer people playing Ferrari Challenge on-line. And as such, I'm afraid the title of this thread may have run it's course.

I still often meet some of the regulars in this forum. And such as last night, am able to enjoy some interesting and close racing. But most on-line sessions seem to consist of 1-3 lobbies. All with the Ferrari F430. All at Monza. Occasionally, one of them will take the daring step of turning off the racing line and presumably announcing to all concerned that this is no longer an 'entry level' lobby. I rarely notice 'known' players in these lobbies and the few in which I venture often become crash fests with the inexperienced players using other vehicles, run off areas, retaining walls, or anything but the brake pedal in order to slow down.

At one time, and not that long ago, I was a completely green player. And I have no qualms about these sort of races because everybody has to start somewhere. But I no longer have any interest in joining them.

A few months ago, on an active night, opening a lobby with the 355 Challenge or even the 250TR would result in 5-6 players joining within a few minutes. Last night, I opened a lobby with the 512M and after Hun200kmh joined, we sat and talked in the lobby for nearly an hour and not a single person ventured in. After 2-3 rounds of racing, Energiya joined. For the last race, we had one more person join the lobby, for which I was quite happy.

I saw Zedux was in the lobby after this final race was over but we had all decided before hand that this would be the last event, so I regret he was not able to join in. But at that point, the lobby had been opened for almost 2 hours and I was sad to see how little interest it garnered.

The game is still selling, although according to VGChartz, which tracks only US sales of this game, it's down to a trickle with a few hundreds copies or less moving every week. So perhaps it's now run it's course.

Biggles, maybe you need to start a "15 Reasons Why thread" and drum up some interest (or controversy). :)

Thanks for racing guys. The 10 minutes at Spa were wonderful with <0.5 seconds separating our fastest times. 👍 Very enjoyable. It makes me sad that so few others share the sentiment.

JJ, it was a 512M lobby, I don't think it's strange so few people joined. However, I agree, the number of players we can find in FC online decreased in the last month or few months.

I must say, anyway, that I usually find three/four lobbies open when I fire up the game. But, as you said, it's usually the F430 and with no limits on assists, so I don't get interested.

But ... as long as I keep meeting the "usual suspects" :D I really don't care. Quality racing with friends is something I really appreciate. 👍

Hmm stick it out till SCC hits then no doubt there will be a bigger influx of racers on that game, FC should have been huge but the hype surounding it never developed further than with the die hard racing fans.

With my limited playing time, I've found myself playing GT5P more often. After a half year of barely playing the limited tracks aren't so bad anymore. Some guys over at the us playstation forum have events set up at least four days of the week. Most have qualifying (use start times to separate groups and pp levels to stack the grid) so you end up in a group of similar talent. Its been a blast. I try to get out a couple of time a week. I'll probably end up picking up gtr evolution to play when I don't have access to my ps3 but wheel see.

We'll see. :) According to VGChartz, Ferrari Challenge sold 54,000 copies (PS3 version (~ 150,000 copies all versions) in the USA alone. I can't find any reliable stats on other regions but the general consensus has been that European sales of FC were much higher than US sales. So we can say with some certainty that at least 100,000 copies of the PS3 version of Ferrari Challenge moved world wide and likely quite a bit more. And yet when we look in the stats, the game only shows ~ 24,000 unique players. And this does NOT account for people who may have sold the game or those who have multiple accounts. So we can take from this that a surprisingly small percentage of the people who purchased Ferrari challenge ever played the game on-line. Most users play off-line only.

Anyway, my point is, for SCC to have even the same amount of on-line players as FC, it will have to be a BIG seller. And considering the poor job System 3 has done at promoting it so far, I really wonder if this will happen.

I hope it does. But as I said, we'll see. :)

Very funny Mario. :) But we both know there is an alarming degree of truth to this.

From the very first hints about SuperCar Challenge on the Eutechnyx forums, until the latest June 19th estimate, it's release date has changed many times. We've heard:

- Early 2009
- First Quarter 2009
- 2nd Quarter 2009
- Spring 2009
- Beginning of May
- May
- May 30th
- June
- End of June

In fairness, System 3 is hardly alone in this. And nobody here need be reminded of the painfully long wait for GT5. But considering S3 were still talking about a May release date at a time when it should have been plainly evident that such a date wasn't realistic tells me they simply don't have their act together or they're in over their heads.

It's a painful reminder. There was so much that Eutechnyx/S3 got right with Ferrari Challenge. And most of us who still post regularly are still quite enthusiastic about it. But at the same time there was and remains, so much wrong with it: The delays, the unfulfilled promises, the bugs, the glitches. I'm sure all of these conspired to turn what could have been the best racing sim on the PS3 into a niche title in an already niche market.

I'm hoping SuperCar Challenge can turn all this around. But they certainly aren't off to a promising start.

I had a go of FC last night with my shiny new G25 - and it was a significant leap over the DFP I'd been using. So I thought, I'll have an online race. No one was online :(

There are definitely more Europeans online than N.A. players, & I find the online reasonably busy on weekends.

The time I generally play, starting around 11pm, the Europeans & jj are tucked up in bed, so I mostly meet up with ENERGIYA. Last night the B-day boy had a gang of admirers racing with him. These guys were all over the place: swerving across the track, spinning out, braking unexpectedly early & punting. After a couple of races with this crew, I started to realise just how good the FC "regulars" really are compared to casual FC racers: when mhm66 joined Jason & myself for a few races in the 355 challenge we were able to race bumper to bumper, because each one knew what the other guy was going to do - I guess that's what it's like IRL racing 👍

I think the best way to make sure you're going to have someone to play with is to discuss start times on this forum.
