Oookay, who is up for another tuner challenge?

So the judgement has to be posted in the TCv4 thread, I presume? (not here)

Would be fun if the final contestant list contained a link to the setup posts of every contestant. Would be a lot of work, but it probably would save a lot of time for others...

No 260kw was only in the VZ, VE SS was always 270kw.;)

Nope, stayed at 260Kw from VZ to VE1. Went up to 270Kw with VE2 mainly due to the FG XR6T being 270Kw stock.

Now, hurry up judges and give his Hilux a bad score so we can move on.

And then give your Vette a worse score so we can all laugh at you even harder.

,,l,, :P ,,l,,

Nah, we've gotta have a new thread for reviews, one that is dedicated to reviews only, no chat; I reckon if anyone posts crap in said thread we pressure them to delete it.

If all goes well I should post over twenty reviews; that would warrant a thread in itself. Tacking them all on to the TCv4 thread is a recipe for disaster.

Look at this page, note the L76 V8 and L98 V8, models used and power outputs. Link I am telling you now that VE was always 270kw and that will be the end of it.

Wow, =drifting24/7=, absolutely fabulous N3 choice! I drove that car on N3s and had a Semi-Race setup (the only kind I can do) working splendidly, very nice car for low grip.

I've not played GT4 for ages, so I'll do the N3-Class as a primer (Scary?) and see where I stand from there. I've heard one person each say they're judging FF and FR, so no tiebreaker there yet. I see interesting cars in both classes, and will surely drive, for instance, both the Spoon EK9 and a very special Nissan Z.

I suppose FFs' understeer would be calm enough to help get reacquainted with GT4's violent physics, but FRs' balance would help assauge the beating with the understeer stick. I'm still unsure.

Either way, wish me luck!

Wow, just did about 4-5hrs tuning and testing, first time I'vge touched the game in 2 wks.

We had to get the '76 Golf, and in the process tuned a car that could have been entered in the TCv4. The '01 Golf fully modded with stg 1 wieght reductiona and something else I don't remember goes like a rocket.

I dunno who made the Golf '76 cause we blacked out the names on the printouts to eliminate any possible bias in judging, but it's a great choice of a car. I'm not yet convicned that it's a good tune, but it's a fantastic choice.

@RJ: Great work on the first post of the review thread, though I suspect EA11R and Vince did most of the work. You need to post the judging criteria at the bottom of the OP. I've included the judging criteria from my oqwn notes, and I'm fairly sure they're an unedited copy of your original post, somewhere, at some time. Just copy/paste/edit to the judging thread? I have more questions, but I'm too drunk to type right now
_________

Judging...

Comfort: 0-25, 25 being best. By comfort I don't mean ride quality, I mean the car is easy to drive fast, and doesn't make you work hard to keep it in check at the limit.

Cornering attitude: 0-25. Does it understeer excessively? Dock points. Oversteer excessively? Dock points. Does it do both? Kill it.

Cornering prowess: 0-25. Basically, how fast it can go through the twisty bits.

Power-to-capability: 0-15. Is it too much for the chassis tuning? Can it take more? Or is it right around where you, the judge, feel it should be?

Perceived possible improvement: 0-10. How much quicker do you feel the car can be made? Lower = more improvement possible, higher = the tune is closer to "right". Base it not only off cornering but the gearbox's tuning as well (can the car be kept more or less in the power band at all times? Is acceleration well balanced with where the car tops out? etc)

Now then... Total it up, and there's the score. But list the individual scores as well.

TRACK SELECTION... The track you use should be somewhere you're familiar with that provides a somewhat unbiased gauge of a vehicle's performance (IE not somewhere that's all high speed corners, and not somewhere that's all low speed).

^Could use some formatting; headings not in bold looks awkward to me. Hasn't it been typed before? Whatever, I digress.

I've just built my N3 cars for my grand re-entry into GT4. That Corvette looks like a nice, friendly car, so I'll use it first. I'll post my opinions in the obituary. :scared:

EDIT: I've judged the cars, and now have a new problem: How do we do a table of numbers on a forum? I'd prefer not to, as I've just tried and nearly became An Hero. Will have results up tomorrow. Basically, though, the Suzuki is horrendous, the Corvette sedated, the RX-7 incredibly impressive, and the M3 exhilrating and wonderful.

Okay, I'm wrong. Happy to admit it. :) My mates VE doesn't get the full 270Kw on 91 octane however. ;)

No, I think 270kw was quoted on 96 or 98. I did find a very interesting fact the other day though, the 225kw/300hp direct injection Alloytec V6 power figure is quoted on American regular fuel which is only 87 octane. I want to get that engine in a new Camaro so badly, a simple re-tune for better fuel and sportier intentions as well as an exhaust would probably see power figures over 250kw, maybe more.:dopey: And the car looks so  through my eyes.

That's true,

ps. Sorry I posted in the Judging thread!

@EA11R:

Hey mate, that's a fantastic first post in the judging thread. I'm not talking about content (have yet to read it properly), but the format is superb. I hope everyone else is as meticulous, or at least copy/pastes your format. The only way it could be improved is by adding a column for drivetrain/category.

+rep if I could, I'll use this when I do my excel template.

Rereading my comment, it's a bit strong, especially considering I have nothing to do with the organisation or administration of the event. But please also note that I posted that a few days ago, I wasn't commenting on your post.

Early lead in the N3 division for me. Proud of my M3. :D

I'm also liking EA11R's judging format.

Just for a quick mention if anyone judging has problems with setting up the gearing on either of my entries, let me know as the type up onto the screen was done off memory and I may be one or two off with the autoset.

Nice score on the N3's roj. ;)

I just realised that I don't like the judging criteria, but I shall leave it at that rather than go into detail because like I could give a serious damn, it's just a game.:)

would you look at that score, 32 points, a big fat 0 for cornering lol !!

i was expecting that kind of result anyway, the Swift was just a filler so that I can enter all 4 divisions.., :D

A solid 3rd for my Corvette. Pretty happy considering I threw that one together basically in one night after I got frustrated with the car I was working on. (A 603hp full weight '71 'Cuda)

It's also the first tune I did for N3 tires, and the first time I've driven a car on N3's except for when I was completing the challenges and driving missions.

Thanks. :) Oddly, I tried many ways to get a graph on the forum (I'm still shellshocked from that endeavour), and it turns out that a screenshot of an Excel file was by far the easiest and apparently quite a pretty way to make it happen. Also, that's Verdana size 8 font. I looked at it up close, and I must say, it's bleeding beautiful, the way it pixelates. I'd heard that Verdana was designed for small computer displays, but I never knew it could do quite so well. I really like Verdana.

Coooool. Noone's angry. :dopey: I expected to get e-stabbed for my review of the Suzuki. :ouch:

At least in my opinion, the tuned cars finished in exact order of base car's quality. In my opinion, a miraculously tuned A-Klasse is still worse than a decently tuned 3-Series; The A-Klasse is more impressive, but I like pure joy of driving. Period.

Your Hilux needs to catch it first. :mischievous:

It will catch it, use it as a mobile chicane then run over it like the speed hump it deserves to be Leo. :D

Roj, as for your Supra, it's not even up to my FATBOY Supra spec, I can't take it seriously. :P
