Photo Comp Entry- Round 1
NrburgringGP_F_7.jpg

I didn't really go chasing after a photo comp pic this time...so I'll just submit one from my photo round up. It's not the most well thought out photo, but I kinda like the composition.:)

Round 2- Testing thoughts...
After doing some pretty serious testing last night with Jas I have come to a conclusion; Balast will hurt here at Suzuka! I put considerable effort into tuning and after a while realized there is no 'wonder tune' here...you must simply run a tune that gives you confidence, or you'll end up putting it in the gravel.:scared: With the new ORS tyre regs; quali on mediums looks alot more appealing than it use to.

Just a quick post to remind that the photo comp entries need to be in by 6pm today.

Not that we're too hard about rules here. Just some time close will do.

Quick question for Daphnedog: You posted a pretty cool shot of a car that was all blurred, if that's near turn 1 (end of main straight would be counted) you can nominate that as your picture for this week. But if it's not from near turn 1 then you'd need something else.

Cheers,
Mick

Hi Mick,
Unfortunately that was the final corner...an intimate moment between Cactass & Me ;)
Only posted it because I thought it looked cool & wanted to share it :)

The weather report is in. Monday nights race looks to be a hot sunny day in Suzuka.

Hope everyone has read the NEW tyre regulations as they are effective for this race and the remainder of the series.

You mean you don't have pink rego plates? Your missing out on alllll the girls!

I have been getting a few questions about the tyre regulations. Some drivers/teams seem to be confused. The tyre limit regs are in addition to the current regulations. So you must still use all compounds during a race. Here is a copy of the first post which was updated at the same time as the new regs were implemented.

TyreRegulations-1.png

The tyre limit is now open. Racing Hard, Mediums & Softs are available for use during a 'racing weekend'. A racing weekend consists of Qualifying and Racing. However there are limits to how you use these tyres. Everyone has an limited set of Soft/Medium/Hard racing tyres
(NO MIXING SETS, i.e Softs on front and hards on rear).

At the start of the racing weekend you will need to decide which tyre you qualify on.
Once you have chosen your qualifying tyre you MUST stick to that tyre.
You CANNOT change to a different set of tyres during that qualifying session.
You will also start the race on your qualifying tyre. The qualifying tyre and race start tyre count as 1 set.
The tyre limits for each compound are;

Racing Softs = 2 Sets
Racing Mediums = 3 Sets
Racing Hards = 4 Sets

Your qualifying and race start tyre count as 1 used set

Here is an example:
Driver A qualifies and starts on racing softs
Driver A now has 1xRS, 3xRM & 4xRH to use in the race

Driver B qualifies and starts on racing mediums
Driver B now has 2xRS, 2xRM & 4xRH to use in the race
In the event a driver receives damage during set changes i have allowed a buffer to combat this. If you receive damage on lap 1-3 of your new set of tyres then it will not count as a used set if you need to pit to fix damage. You may stay on that same compound. If you receive damage from lap 4 onwards and pit to fix the damage then that tyre will count as a used set.

Now here is the important part. ALL TYRE GRADES MUST BE USED DURING A RACING WEEKEND.
Here is an example;

Example 1
Driver A qualifies on Racing Softs
Driver A starts race on Racing Softs
Driver A must use minimum of 1 set of Racing Mediums and Hards during the race

Example 2
Driver B qualifies on Racing Hards
Driver B starts race on Racing Hards
Driver B must use a minimum of 1 set of Racing Mediums and Softs during the race

Example 3
Driver C qualifies on Racing Mediums
Driver C starts race on Racing Mediums
Driver C must use a minimum of 1 set of Racing Hards and Softs during the race
Stewards will make a note of each drivers tyres and penalties will be handed down if you fail to comply.
Penalties can vary from warnings, point deductions and to disqualifications.

Cheers,
Oni.

bugger of a race!
Something odd was happeneing to the handling for my car...fine one minute. totally crap the then next...then back fine!?!?!?
I was following the lead pack in the opening laps (was on RMs) and going into spoon the car understeered off. even tho i braked early. turned in the right place. totally odd. The next lap was like it was on ice. The following lap, was fine again!?!

Made a few mistakes too along with about 5 glitch (well, i am calling them glitch's) errors.

Highlight was catching and passing Arie on the last lap...goes to show you never give up :)

Hey Guys,

Again, another great night of racing...thank you all for this.

Still can't believe I got pole and won it :dopey: I am really, really happy with the result and I hope I can keep up the momentum going :)

It was quite a hard race...really pushing the limit all the time and mentally very hard too...had Jas chasing me up the full race but something happened around lap 30 that he suddenly lost 6 seconds....that was the breathing time I needed

From that point onwards it was basiclly try to save tyres, keep a consistent pace and not make any silly mistake.....this last bit was definatelly not simple after I've realized I could actually win ...I kept repeating to myself....don't worry...you can do this....just don't make a mistake...lol...and off course that wasn't helping much...

Thankfully it all went well at the end :)

Looking forward to the next one!

GO TEAM STEALTH

Cheers

Once again congratulations Rod on your first win and hopefully the momentum continues at Round 3 for the 3x Sprint races.

My race was filled with highs and lows. Qualified poorly, was saving my best time for later but ended up finding traffic on the laps that counted and missed the top 6. Started 7th and got a great start, tagged on to the back of Rusty quite comfortably then suddenly around the final corner in the esses on lap 3 or 4 the car gave way and went into a huge slide towards the wall (never did that during any practice session on any tyre grade or tyre wear so was surprised), managed to miss the wall but absolutely shredded my tyres. By lap 4 i had almost nothing left and by the end of lap 5 i had nothing left and was forced to let B-Spec Bob drive me home to the pits. Ended up 1minute down from the front after the first pit.

What sucked was i had the pace to stay on with the front pack as throughout the whole race i was either gaining time on the front (got down to about 45 secs difference) or maintained equal pace. However luckily it did put me behind rota and i now had a new mission. To take down Rota!. Managed to catch him then out pit him by the last pit stop but he was chasing me down hard. Initially i thought it was Vel or Asuka behind me and a lap down so i backed off and went into conserve mode then with 5 laps to the end i looked in my mirrors and what did i see? A bright green machine charging up. At that point i just put my foot to the floor and went for it with what tyres i had left.

In the end i was disappointed in my result but ecstatic to get home in front of Rota. ;)

I'll add my congratulations Rod for an excellent race and clean sweep of the points, top job there mate. 👍

The tension was high for the start for this one after the delays, thanks to our amazing Australian Network and PD's servers. :indiff:

With the race underway, I was nervous on the first part of lap1 and was lucky to get away with a couple of little errors, including getting Rusty under brakes into T1 thanks to that 30 KG advantage.

From there it was consolidation, trying to stay in touch with Rod and not over cooking the tires. At around Lap 27 or 28 I decided to have a red hot go to shorten the gap to Rod which worked for a bit, till i over cooked it and ran out of talent at into T1 on Lap 30, lopping it like a P plater. :dunce:

By Lap 35 I could see that Toiv was closing in fast and I was trying everything to hold my position, by lap 37 I was getting nervous with Tires going off, another lap and I reckon he would have got me easy.

Hats off to my Teamie Oni for bringing it home despite the random grip glitches experienced and to Spin for turning up at the last minute and finishing on the lead lap - I find that really hard to do when you haven't had some time to get into the groove.

Go UYR Racing, Team Citrus's...erm...rear is in our sights!

FYI: guys with the photocomp there's currently a tie so if anyone is still to vote, think of it as a deciding vote.

The winner of round 1 of the ORS Citroen GT Racecar photocomp is:

Jasr!!

The graph:

So Jasr, well done!! As you can see all pictures got votes and there was a tie going for a while. And Jasr gets to choose a theme for this week's round.

Cheers.

Awww, geezzz thanks gents. Really liked Cac's fish eye perspective from this weeks.👍

This weeks theme is...

ALL CROSSED UP...

Show us your favorite opposite lock moment. Could be a great heart pounding save, drift, powerslide or a big lose that you had or witnessed. :sly:

To officially list the theme for this week:

Photocomp Theme for ORS Season 7- Round 2!

"All Crossed up . . . "

Have fun with it.

Thought you might get a laugh out of this

I finally got to go for a ride with a new clutch in my bike and a new Go Pro mounted on my head. The new clutch is fantastic but the down side is that it is stiffer, so instead of only using 1 finger I have to use 2 or 3 fingers to pull in the clutch lever. Now you don't use the clutch lever that much as you just mash though the gears, but when you need a little instant power it's handy to just flick the lever, pot the throttle and either wheel spin or wheel stand.

As the day got long the arms got tired, and well this is the result...

Nice one Ev. The stupid crashes hurt the pride more than anything hey. :D

Speaking of crashes , here's a clip from the local broadcast of our race on Monday night. Gotta love the Japanese commentators !

Hee hee , got a bit lazy and went for the very short edit lol.

Been tinkering with the rig again , its reign of terror over the entire loungeroom has come to an end. It now resides in a corner of the room with the TV bolted to it ! (Scored a bigger tele for watching movies n stuff :) )

Finally I have space to do some sick breakdancing in my loungeroom again ! (not really) :sly:

Hahaha nice job Spin, the rigs looking nice with a big screen. That vid was a crackup by the way as was Ev's classic effort. I'm expert at throwing myself at the ground, usually where there are multiple witnesses for maximum embarrassment.

Round one Video highlights for your amusement. Had random prob's including losing the sound effects for the opening ORS title and a few sync issues elsewhere during rendering and upload unfortunately.
