+1 Jol / JTV, I'm down for another two rounds as well Oni. 👍

Spin - Great vid mate thanks for sharing. iRacing gets more and more tempting by the minute with the deals they have going.

Jtv - awesome pic. That pit moment was epic, side by side down the pits, till you graciously hit the start button and let me by, never seen anything like it before.

New YouTube Vid for your amusement. Video wall experiment this time (took some hair pulling and fair volume of cursing) but I've almost cracked it. :irked:

PS: Round three highlights still 'in-production' and coming soon. :)

Gents,

All graphs are now comlete for Race 3 of the series. (links on Page#1, Post #2)

Also, i've changed the layout for the Drivers Championship Points Graph to show a race by race breakdown of the points gained. Hope you like it. :sly:

Cac.

Cheers boys, keep the votes coming. If enough people request 2 more rounds then i will slot them in.

Just a notice to everyone at the end of round 4 there will be a series review. During this review i will be applying/removing ballast to drivers in order to keep the parity. The usual weight ballast handicap still applies where applicable. What i will be looking at is which drivers are too fast or too slow for their tier and apply/remove ballast to those drivers to tighten up the field.

Oni, I'm keen to add more races. More chances to learn and gain more experience and have some more fun. The extra set of tyres for the Tier 3 guys really helped me.

Spinner, Iracing looks pretty good. I might give a trial version a go and join you soon. I have a decent HTPC sitting next to my PS3 so don't have any issues in plugging my USB cable into a different slot. The safety rating is a major feature that I like to ensure that you have clean racers. The glitchy lagging network issues that we curse on PSN would be non existant in Iracing from what I can see.

Jasr, That video wall clip is pretty nice. It must push your editing PC to its limit to handle all data. There will be heaps of highlights from Tokyo for sure.

Race 1 & Race 2 did not go exactly to plan with an additional unplanned pitstop to fix a damaged car in each.

Had an incident with Velly in Race 1 1st corner on lap 2 where he's bounced off the inside wall straight into my rear end. He did kindly wait for me to get back in front so I don't have any issues with it. I'm sure there was a similar incident in the original Toyota 86 race a few months ago. Here's a short clip of the incident just for learning purposes.

While it gave me minor rear damage, I subsequently could not drive the car straight and ended up damaging too other corners as I kept slamming into the walls. Limped back into the pits to fix the damage. Only to damage the car again on cold tyres. I tried to drive on but ended up back in the pits on the next lap as I knew guys would be lapping me soon. The last thing I wanted was to lose control infront of a lapping driver and ruin his race.

In Race 2 I was nervous to start on 2nd spot on the grid and was mindful not to make any mistakes. John did well to take his 1st race there. I managed to get about mid race and mid pack and doing reasonbly well until I got over excited at the prospect of overtaking Lemon and Lime coming out of the pits on their cold tyres. Another unplanned pitstop to fix damage.

Race 3 was my best race ever as I made the most of my front row starting position. 1st time I had ever been sandwiched between Rusty and Rod. They were both running Mediums against my Softs so the plan was just to stay as close as I could. Rusty still shot away like a rocket but I was on pace with Rod for a lap or too before he pulled away.

After my 1st pitstop I found myself in around 3rd spot and a chance at my first podium. Rusty and Cact were well out in front at this stage and I had Oni and Evan on my tail and catching at a reasonable race. I kept on looking behind but told myself to just keep racing as I was at risk at making a mistake. 3rd last lap I saw that Oni had got a bit sideways coming on to the main straight and thought "could I hold on?"

In the end I got me 1/2 way on the last lap as I couldn't maintain the grip or pace on my worn tyres. I didn't want to risk fighting for position and falling further back. So in the end I was happy to hold on to my highest ever position in 4th place. Here is me crossing the finish line... "My highlight of the night." :)

Onto other forms of enjoyment now. Some of you know that I have gotten into iRacing recently. Absolutely loving it and I would bet good money that most of you guys would be sold once you tried it. Worth every cent and the ORS would really step up to a whole new level if it was based on that sim. (hint hint ;) )

Just think , no more stuffing around with network issues , no more manual grid ups only to have them STILL FAIL , stupid grip glitch rooms etc etc etc.... Instead , add a rock solid software foundation , manual controlled pitsops , flags , even a safety car if needed ! Car setup is important but not crucial , clean consistent driving pays off in iRacing. I could blab on and on about it (some of you have already copped a rambling earful of me this week haha !) but I will stop now and leave this quick video here.

I concur.

Yes to more races

This car is a lot of fun.

Had a blast Monday night, some of the closest racing I've ever had. Every race I had some epic battle with someone, rota in the final 5 laps of the first, jammed in a pink sandwich between cac and jas in the second and trying to hold of ONI and take third from asuka in the last race.

Some other great moments.

Qualifying 6th on med tyres

I had rusty try to out brake me into the first corner only to have him run wide, I slipped up underneath him , he got me a lap later but.

See ONI get a bit sideways out of the last corner, so used him to slingshot me down the straight, only to tap a wall later and get massive tyre wear, slip from 4th to second last and basically cause the last lap pile up. ( not really a great moment but funny )

Well done all great racing, love the new sprint round format, photos to follow

Evan

Thanks man, wanted to see if my PC would swallow it. 49 Video tracks running simultaneously if you include the mirror reflections, had the CPU running at its full over-clocked capacity for some it. Bit over two hours to render the 59 secs of the Video wall clip to MP4 format in HD.

I'm up for more races. Well I haven't been able to make any so far, so I'm keen to get any basically.

I should be good to make it to the races now, another conversation with my boss, hopefully he gives me Mondays off.

Getting some Motegi practice in. Think my time away from competition has slowed me a little as I'm a bit off the pace of some of the other guys. Maybe I always was . . .hmmm

Also another issue is that a few of us are getting PSN disconnections. Here's hoping that PSN is working better by Monday.

Good to see photo comp pictures being posted. Last week was a little bit quiet, Spinner's picture was excellent, perhaps it scared off potential competition.

It's looking good for an extra 2 races atm. Seems alot of people are enjoying this car and the series. I'll wait on a couple more votes before i announce whether or not there will be 2 more races added to the calendar.

BTW - Moon if your read or stalking let me know if you want to come back as a full time driver. As Waynz has missed 3 races in a row, he now gets moved to a Wildcard spot.

Here is my Photo Comp moment....Last turn on the last race...when all hell breaks loose and its a mad sprint to the finish!
Whating the replay I had a bigger hand in all this than I thought...Trying to recover I closed to the on jtv90069. Not very gentlemenly like, sorry for that.

swearregulations1.jpg

For the upcoming round I will be trialling a new regulation (by myself). Swear word compounds, this is based on the successful tyre regs.

Over the course of the 'racing weekend' I will use a mixture of Hard, Medium and Soft Swear words. Due to the limit of swear words I have at my disposal, it will be important to use all grades of swear words over the racing weekend.

For example if I chose to start qualifying with medium swear words I will have to stay on medium swear words during all of qualifying. This could prove difficult, but will set me up well for the race.

I will then have a good range of swear word options during the race, if during the race I am going okay on soft swear words, but get into a wall and have serious damage I will likely switch to hard swears - probably immediately!

It will be important to have a plan for the race, as it is a long race. Trying to use one set of swear words for the whole race would be unrealistic. That set of swear words is likely to get worn out by 10-12 laps on the same set. So a switch is a good idea.

Also if I go into one of the deep Motegi sand traps then the swear words will get very dirty and will need to be changed right away.

I'll let you know how it goes :)

I'm either missing something here or Mic you been smoking some of Lost's stash!

EDIT: As Rota has said yes (and we all know his word is the law) to more races it is now official that 2 more races will be added to the series calendar after Round 4.

Nice one Mic !!!

Last night was my first chance at turning some laps around Motegi. And yes within two laps I think I had used my full quota of swear words starting with soft and quickly moving to use every hard word I had to my disposal.

It a fantastic track but cruel as well. The out side ripple strips being the main source of frustration. I will have to but some serious track time in to learn the track.

........................

I'll let you know how it goes :)

+(1+e6)

I suggest qualifying on Hards. It's the only compound up to the task of the first 5 laps of carnage on cold tyres, packed grid, and over extension of talent. :scared:

Here's what can happen when you get out of shape trying to enter the pits at Motegi, for real:

roadcoursetwinringmoteg.jpg

This happened in an actual trial 10 lap race. Took a bunch of forward and back moves to get me pointed straight and able to go into the pits.

Well as i've said before last Mondays night race was some of the closest racing if had in a long time. The pace was fast and the tyre tier system worked fantastic and its great to drive such a great car and be racing in the pack again. but its really great to get into some close action again.

Part of the reason was last series i wasn't happy with my car set up and struggled for speed and also a history of crap internet issues, but most the problem was lack of talent...

Now its hard to find one great moment from Mondays race but this was the most exciting for me...

Following Cactus through the fast chicane then back straight at 253kph,
100mm off his rear bar and from my bumber view all i can see in front of me is this massive rear wing and nothing else!!!!!
Just praying Cactus doesn't lead me into a wall...

For me one of the memorable moments was Race 3 lap 11 of 12 currently in 5th place behind Evan with us closing in on Asuka.

Evan gets some understeer around turn 6 and taps the wall, i'm right there to get on his outside for turn 7.

TokyoR246_01.jpg

Evan see's me attempting the outside pass and puts on the squeeze.

TokyoR246_1_02.jpg

The wall was getting mighty close but i kept on the gas and held my line.

TokyoR246_2_E.jpg

I make it stick and get the line for turn 8.

Oni,

Just seeking a clarification on the tyre strategy, please.

I understand that for the sprint races, the qualify and race start tyres counted as 2 sets.

My question is, will that be the same for tonight's race or will it go back to be as per previous tyre reg where qualy and race start counted as 1 set and you could still use another set (in case of the softs) during the race?

Thanks,

I'd be happy to do an extra 2 rounds , which tracks though ? It's a great car I reckon and I'm really enjoying this season so far.

I was "Ghost racing" at a practice session tonight , just to see how my pace was with these guys. They can't see me on track and I can't cause any interference. Great idea and a fantastic way to check out the potential competition :)

Vid quality is massively reduced btw :) , the original was 1.4 gig !

Spinner,

I know exactly where you are coming from....I play rFactor and it is a great game too...

The physics of the game and the way the car handles makes GT5 look arcade! Not to mention, as you said, the fact that there is no lag or no difference due to internet connections.

The other great thing is the amount of tracks and cars available to you...I for example have V8 supercars, F1 1979, F1 1989, F1 1992 and so many other ones...it is great!

Here is a video of fun time against the AI, driving a Skoda Cup car @ Bathurst...hope you guys enjoy it.

Note...the best thing is you can get all of this for free (www.rfactorcentral.com)

Cheers

Yeah mate the qualifying and race start for endurance races are the same as sprint round. Quali and race start count as 2 sets used.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!:(:scared::ill:

lol

Have to rethink my whole race now...lol

Thanks mate

hahahaha....told you :scared:

doesnt make a difference to mine, I will still be running last!

Dog doesn't think he will be able to race tonight, I will still ask him if he can stream the event for us. Maybe able to follow the lead cars or the leaderboard (if the picture is clear enough)

Just need to set up a docking station on my rig so I can mount my phone to watch the live stream (tho it seems to be delaid by 10 seconds)

Post race action last night in the BMW vs Maserati derby. Uncle Cactass demonstrates how to reduce tyre wear at Deep Forest.

Deep Forest Raceway2 by spinnerpics1, on Flickr

On the race streaming subject , as long as it doesn't upset the delicate flower that is PSN (don't breathe !) , I reckon go for it. The other thing though.... is anyone actually watching it ?

Robs ADSL2 network copes with it fine.
he did run it last week as a few of us seemed to be suffering from the 'online bug' of losing grip at random times and wanted to see if this effected it...which it didn't.

Love Cactass's line, I was trying the same at the Ring last night doing some more 305bhp racing with Rod

Damn, those kerbs are high!

I still can't decide if....

...this is is a picture of a highly skilled team of drivers working in unison on a highly detailed race strategy 💡,

or,

..... a flock of sheep. :dopey: (lap 9)
