I think it's not so much that 12 is better than 8... but that 6 is better than 3.
It's just the nature of the beast that however many people sign up for something, it's almost invariable that at least 2-3 will not be able to make a race when the time comes, even if they want to.
Life just happens.
*sigh* THE HUMANITY!

Exacly. Register 12 you get 7 or 8 most of the time. If we wanted 12 we'd have to register 16+. If you only register 8 you might only get 4 or 5...and likely 1 or 2 of them might drop because of a lack of drivers making it not so much fun.

I do see the point in more drivers, but I think the main issue now is finding enough drivers to fill those slots, if we could find enough drivers to fill 12 slots in each series, then I would be happy to change the amount of drivers allowed. Also, I've noticed the 2pm time has not really gotten too many sign ups, so I am considering pulling that series out all together, unless some of our current drivers would sign up for the 2pm series, then I may reconsider.

Yeah there's definitely a psychology here... which I'm not sure I can explain... or even understand. But there's something to this.
Like somehow when I make a thread for a race. I'll get 1-2 sign ups, then the odd person signing up because they like the idea. Then suddenly once there's 5 people signed up, then there's a sudden influx of sign-ups. :boggled:

It's the same thing with my Lo PP Shuffle - in the pub lobby.
I have a core few friends who I msg, and we get together & start racing. There'll be 5 of us for several races. Then 2 more people will show up. Within 10 minutes after that, we're at near full capacity.
A couple of my pals will joke that when that sudden influx of joins happens, that some other shuffle lobby had just went in the toilet after the host kowtowed to demands to up the PP, or allowed SSR7 to get voted as the track.
While it's true, that sometimes several people who know each other follow each other out of a bad shuffle lobby to another one and then talk about how the other room went to the dogs.

But really, I think it's just that there's some self-perpetuating myth about popularity.
I think I read about a scientific study on that recently. Or maybe it was on the radio. That in a blind control group study... If people saw that others had rated some crap mp3 downloadable song as "good"... it got rated better by everyone than if people were not given anybody else's ratings. In the experiment, the "ratings" were fake and random. But it still worked. People were really digging the crappy songs that were given fake high ratings.

Anyway, having worked in marketing & advertising, I've learned that a lot of human psychology is kind of stupid! And I don't like it always. But if you can use it for good & not evil, then best go with the flow and not try to fight it.
(Not that I'm suggesting adding T&A to the Oval Series logo or anything... Though, that probably wouldn't hurt.  :sly: JUST KIDDING!!!)

7 for teams and 4 against teams, I like the way this is going. Would everyone perfer to have the choice of being on a team or not, instead of basically being forced to?

If you guys want to take a picture of your car, then I can put it up in the sign ups list.

Hi guys, finally I don't think this is something for me. During our test session saturday, I caused too much accidents. We in Europe are just not used to this kind of oval races, and it reveals to be much more complex than expected.

I hope you will have fun.

Can I join with a "probably"? ^^ Saturdays are so unpredictable but I think I should be able to join the late time, depending on which saturday it is.

Might take a picture later tonight. ^^

 I know I was surprised too when I first discovered why on earth anyone would want to race going around in a circle. :boggled:  It's surprisingly complex strategy.

This ^
is my teammate!! :D :D :D
So I will be changing my schedule to the late one too.

(Miata_1 will take early one and/or Friday Night.)

Yeah oval racing is surprisingly challenging to drive and it's sooo much about strategy. And when the cars go faster you have to think even faster. :P Complicated **** this.

I think your main problem was your lag Turbo. It may have affected your handling and may have caused some of your difficulties.

+1 I agree with Johnny, why don't you give it another try and see what happens. Also, I would like to do another test session before the series starts.

OK I will get you signed up.
Just ABS and driving line.

I agree too! Turbogeit if you had a lag incident, that could be better explanation than your car control (which from what I know is pretty decent).
We had a lag in the start @ Indy on Wednesday in the Cubes @ Ovals race, and it caused a terrible crash...

These cars not only were not going very fast... But this happened in the rolling start BEFORE THE START... so obviously it's not that anybody made "a bad move". It was lag.
Sometimes that just happens.

And it may behoove us to have Aceboy127 do some more testing with lounge settings (like race quality & mic quality).

That's also a good reason not to have 14 cars on the track in an oval race.
To reduce the chances of this.
But it happens from time to time.

Very nice picture, I'm surprised watermelon did not beat you to the punch on getting a picture of her car.

I'll switch to the Friday series but if I'm available I'll race in either of the other two as well.

OK, I'll give it another try. Perhaps that I just will have to learn to do this. When do we have another test session? And on which track.

I'm up for joining let me know when practice is have to see if my hotel internet can keep up and not lag
