I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the fact that there was no RBE! This is going to make things so much more enjoyable. I'm pretty impressed with the GT-R so far on S2's. Definately one of the fastest cars at Suzuka on S2's I'd imagine.

Can't wait to give this event a go tonight, sounds great from all the comments in this thread Seems like the GTR or Evo X are the best cars to use currently? I also voted for up to 650pp as i dont mind racing people with lower PP as long as their car is fully maxed out & they're not doing just for grid position gain.

I will probably be back on soon, might play around with the GTR a little more just to break it down into the 2'07's (my best is 2'08.046 18 hours ago) as I know it is well capable of it, even 2'06's should be possible on good laps.

Despite RPM_crx's pimping of the GT-R, I would like to stress that it is not a good car for this race.
Is it impressive? Uh, sure; plenty impressive for a 1500kg car on S2s.

Suzuka has more corners than straights, and racing a car that's at least reasonably fast in the corners is the path to the fastest lap time.
A low-grip 1500 kilo car sans aero cannot be fast in the corners. Its just not physically possible. The only reason the GT-R can even create decent times is because it's straight-line speed is set to "insano" to meet PP.

A wide, hard to pass, slow in the corners, blazing in the straights car spells disaster for non-RBE races. Think about that for a second.
Say a GT-R gets out in front at race start. Everybody will pile up behind in the S curves, the GT-R's girth stifling passing. Same for Degner and the hairpin, and once the GT-R hits 200R, its gone. You could slingshot around Spoon and catchup on the back stretch, but you can't carry that momentum through 130R; the GT-R has to slow way down to take it, bunching everybody up through Casio, only to have the GT-R leave you in its wake again on the straight. Bad times.

Unfortunately, the same situation applies to anyone who improperly tunes their car. I beseech you guys to not think of S2 tires as a free pass to crank up HP, but a challenge to scrape out as much grip as possible.
AWD is not the answer to S2s. Light weight and aero is.

I was yesterday testing something like half dozen different RWD's, and both tuned Elises felt most enjoyable for my drivingstyle.

Past times with R-tyres, has really messed up my driving. Could not get 5 decent laps in a row with any of my testcars. Wanted so much to race with others, but I could not because of my driving/spinning.

Thanks PD about this improvement! Now this feels 'Real Driving' again...no one hand cruising.



EDIT: I noticed that lowering PP requirements to 600, would give very much more selection to this event, and not taken away almost anything.

I jumped out of the tuned Elise 111R in free run shortly before, decided to jump back into the GTR for a race and got a shock, didn't adjust in time and made a mess of the laps so I stayed in the sand and took a break.

Plus the GTR is quite missmatched with the other competative cars, in the corners the GTR is just a big road block and make much of it up on the straights.

but i have thought of some things, does anyone lapped already someone? i came to this because some will try this and not be able to drive well and are slow, but how will you know that the nr1 is going to lap you? i'm an average driver and i know there are some really really fast drivers here who can lap me.

they need to implant a flag system or warning onscreen for this kind of races, 5 laps is okay but when races going to be longer they need to do something for this.

btw had great races in my evo and lotus.

Raced here a couple of times last night... I LOVE IT!!!! Best event Ive played up until now... 11+ min. of pure adreneline!! 1 mistake and BYE BYE!!! I LOVE IT!!! who wants to try my Mine's tune... I can only managed high 2.12s... imagine the faster drivers can go faster! I'm really curious.... if its successful it will get posted... Any takers?

A couple of things;
Firstly - if you are in position 12/12, and someone is catching you, then you know it must be the leader.

Secondly - From the leaders perspective you will be a ghost. Therefore you cannot obstruct his progress anyway. 👍

I'm with you 100% on this one this is the way racing should be, you don't see F1 drivers slowing down to give other people a chance do you? (excluding kimi and Massa that is) 👍

That's the best race possible, 2 cars with completely different strengths but similar in net speed and having a battle. You really have to play your own strengths.
