streaming support
Fixed a bug where the streaming rate option in the GUI was not working correctly. The option is enabled via the ‘Game play’ menu ‘UDP mode’. This can be selected between off and 1-9. The number represents the UDP streaming data rate as follows:
UDP off
UDP 1 60/sec (16ms)
UDP 2 50/sec (20ms)
UDP 3 40/sec (25ms)
UDP 4 30/sec (32ms)
UDP 5 20/sec (50ms)
UDP 6 15/sec (66ms)
UDP 7 10/sec (100ms)
UDP 8 05/sec (200ms)
UDP 9 01/sec (1000ms)
The stream is sent to a broadcast address (255.255.255.255) on port 5606.

Yes the patch is missing some stuff but personally the UDP inclusions is ground breaking, we will have 3rd party apps! That's pretty mega in my book.

I've seen 3 apps that will be compatible "crew chief" "HudDash" and "PCARS dash" hopefully other will follow soon.

Happy to report that an issue myself and a few others flagged up on the official forum regarding inability to load/save setups to the Lotus track pack got noticed, and after sending QA my profile save for analysis it seems the issue should be getting fixed in a couple of patches' time, and I quote (from Bruno @ QA):

"Hi there,

Thanks to you we now have a potential fix under testing. It will come hopefully on Patch 8.0 if nothing wrong is detected with it.

Thank you for your support."

It's great to know when fans are vocal about something there are devs out there who actually listen. Thumbs up 👍:gtplanet:

They reduced the flash tyre heating introduced in Patch 6. The problem now is that if you're racing in conditions (fog, night) and you can't get soft tyres hot, there is nothing you can do. Also, in good conditions you can abuse the softs without them overheating, so mediums and hards are rendered useless.

They also 'fixed' camber, by increasing the top speed achievable with camber, however my experience is that zero camber is still faster.

What did they do that people aren't happy about?

Yes what @Animera said. I'm hoping they've undone what was done with version 6.0 because they intend to implement a more robust tyre heating model once any control/steering issues are ironed out or the model is tweaked. If not then I'm guessing they'll implement the more advanced tyre model in the next version of the game. It was too easy to cane the tyres without impact before version 6.0 but there were certainly some issues that I came across in version 6.0

Yep! I stuck my head in over there it not pretty all echo driving and getting nowhere at the same time. SMS would not done such a drastic change in tyre behavior if the didn't see a issue with patch 6 and furthermore they have been very quiet on the changes made in patch 7.

Pre patch 6 the tire model was wrong especially for soft tyre's in my view. But when 6 landed I think the over done it. But I believe there were going in the right direction from distinguishing performance between tyre compounds. On patch 6 I had the luxury of testing PC and PS4 side by side same track, car and conditions the only thing different was wheel. Patch 6 there was a noticeable difference between the two (PC V PS4 Tyre heat). That day I thought PC tyre model was fantastic. So why have SMS reverted back to pre patch 6 especially on PC. They had to be underling code issue's that were not picked up until post patch 6.

Well who knows until SMS explain.

They killed tires in 7.0 people can run 90 mins races on wet tyres now... There are some reports on the official forums.

Also many people are being vocal about how much of a step back the new changes are and how medium and hard tires can't get hot in any way on most cars.

yay. Maybe i should disable auto patch dl on my ps4? i loved the 6.0 setting and i had on my own and online the best races since the game was released.

Seems in some cases rain tyres are now actually faster than slicks :D :

I can't believe the tyres wasn't sorted before release anyway, its a epic game/sim but SMS do some crazy stuff.

Because of all the crazy stuff they do they lose people, i bet there are more people still playing DRIVE CLUB than pCARS, crazy.

Exactly my thoughts. They have a handful of really good QA guys but they seem to be totally overwhelmed or busy with other games. SMS' pcars testing is somewhere between hilariously bad and nonexistant at this point. Its embarassing. I cant see pcars2 becoming a success if they keep going this way, more and more people will get burned. I know I am.

Its such a shame, i see you haven't been on for a while too mate. SMS really are slightly mad studios

Just turned on the PS4 and it's saying it's preparing to download the update, but it's taking ages.

Edit: It's downloading now. Update weighs in at 5.897gb

Edit 2: Damn weak Aussie internet, I'm really keen to try out the second screen app I downloaded on my phone lol.

Hi all,

The PS4 patch is rolling out today. Here are the release notes for the patch.

Project CARS – PS4 Patch 7.0 – Release Notes

Physics & Tyres
• Neutralized the top speed advantage of running zero camber on many tires.
• Reduced flash layer temperature cap for GT3/LMP and other slick tires to make them less prone to overheating.
• Classic Lotus cars: Disabled patch-to-hub on several tyre carcass models as it was creating a strong low-speed FFB buzz.

UDP streaming support
overview
The UDP stream extension has been developed to allow 3rd party app developers the opportunity to receive telemetry data from the game. It is based mainly on the ‘Shared Memory API’ with a number of extensions to transmitted data.
The option is enabled via the ‘Game play’ menu ‘UDP mode’. This can be selected between off and 1-9. The number represents the UDP streaming data rate as follows:
UDP off
UDP 1 60/sec (16ms)
UDP 2 50/sec (20ms)
UDP 3 40/sec (25ms)
UDP 4 30/sec (32ms)
UDP 5 20/sec (50ms)
UDP 6 15/sec (66ms)
UDP 7 10/sec (100ms)
UDP 8 05/sec (200ms)
UDP 9 01/sec (1000ms)
The stream is sent to a broadcast address (255.255.255.255) on port 5606.

Hope they tires are not like in pc 7.0...

Can you let us know how the app works & which one you chose? And also how to sync it to the game? thanks.

No prob mate. I got Pcars dash as it was the first one to integrate UDP support, and when you start the app on the device the first screen that comes up asks which mode to put it in, shared memory (original mode for PC only) or Direct mode (UDP for PC and consoles). You select UDP and it waits for the transmission to start.

When you first open the app, it explains all that, and also says to enable UDP stream within the game, you enable it in Options -> Gameplay, and they recommend you select the UDP value 5.

I heard that the pc guys was dealing with more bugs after patch 7.0. I'm gonna test for myself today. If so, how can more bugs be introduced and all this patch was is correcting stuff and fixing thing? Nothing was added.

Thanks, sounds good. Just need to buy some sort of mount/flexible arm for either my phone or iPad and I'm good to go!

EDIT:
Do you know if this app can be bought once and used on multiple devices? Says family sharing in the description but I don't know if it means that.

Dunno about if it's usable on multiple devices, I don't see why not though. My old Galaxy Tab 2 decided it was sick of charging it's battery about a week ago, great timing I know, so I'm just using the app on my phone, as it's got a decent sized screen for a phone anyway.

App worked flawlessly, I highly recommend Pcars dash. It has multiple pages you can flick through, so you can have a basic motec like display, a lap chart, a full telemetry monitor, and the choice between two detailed huds, with stuff like suspension condition, body condition, tyre wear, tyre and brake temp, detailed fuel info, and more on one screen.

I'm also gonna get a flexible mount for my phone, but I just rigged up a simple mount using a piece of wood, a door hinge, and some blu-tack, to test the app out. My whole rig is home made, but I'd like a flexible arm mount to be able to mount the screen just above my wheel base, so I can see it through the top of the wheel, as it's a pain having to look down beside the wheel for the info.

Also tested GT3 tyres, and some people will be glad to hear they no longer overheat. I was disappointed personally, as 6.0 was a real step in the right direction to how real tyres behave, and now they've dumbed it back down. Now softs are impossible to overheat again, no matter how much you abuse them. You can literally scrub spin and lean on the tyres as much as you want and they'll never overheat even slightly. Stupid.

Got an email back from the pCARS Dash app dev who said one purchase of the app will work on multiple devices as long as they share the same (iTunes) account. My purchase will be imminent as it looks great.

Downloaded patch 7. Tested around Watkins Glen and we are back to patch 5 on GT tyre psychics. I didn't agree with patch 6 in how tyre's were coded. But this latest change is not good for racing as a whole there is no need for mediums or hard tyre's to be used. But I believe we will see a change in tyres in the new year.
