POLL: Do You Like The <1,000,000 Cr. Gift Restriction?

I hate when a few bad apples ruin a good thing for everyone.

I earned an X1 through bronzing the Vettel challenges. Then I got to B-Spec 35 and got another. I have two now. I just want to trade one for something useful, but I can't.

The game has a trade feature. I earned the car fair and square, and I can't trade it.

This is not the answer to stopping duped cars. Whatever the answer is, it shouldn't put a damper on the people who are trying to legitimately use the games features that PD spent time and money developing for me to use.

ahem...

fact: there is no such thing as a "trade feature" in GT5. there is a "gift feature". trading, by 2 users mutually exchanging gifts, is something the users made up.

It's not exactly a land slide but the people of GTP have spoken.

To annoy 61% of your customers is an utterly stupid thing to do, if those 61% choose to vote with their feet and not buy another game in the gt series they have potentially lost approx 3,885,700 customers at say £40 a time and a stupid mistake cost them potentially £155.5 million for every subsequent title they release, and that's only on current sale numbers

not the biggest fan of the £1m restriction as there are a few car's id like that are above the limit but ill get over it (my last trade was for a Panda :) )

However, i love the 1 trade per ps3, was so sick of the "add xxxxxx and ill send the car from this one and send your car too xxxxxx)

Hi guys and girls, I personally dislike this new restriction. I can understand why it's been implemented but it's too late to stop what's already happened. I like many other people slogged my butt off to win races to get credits to buy the cars i dreamed of driving. However i've gotten to the point where i have most of the cars and the max 20 mil and the only reason i still play it is to send a gift to freinds. Call me strange but i find enjoyment in working my butt off to help a freind out and that has now been taken away from me. My freinds in turn helped their freinds out. I personally found some races difficult because i bought the wrong car and lost all my credits, i then worked like crazy to win enough credits to hopefully buy a car that was capable of winning. It was very frustrating and therefore i see no harm in helping my freinds. I am lucky enough to spend a lot of time on GT5 each day but some people can only play for an hour or so, all these restrictions are just going to put people off GT5. RANT OVER ;-)

Got 2 Extra [Duped] 330 P4 just before March 03, 2011... Driving one now while I still got my 20Mil...
Bite me... har har har...

You obviously don't have a family that has to share GT5 with one console....

The game will give you another 2 X2010 if you gold the Vettel challenge! You'll have 4 in total. Can't sell them. Can't give them away.

To be honest, I would be perfectly happy if PD would just allow me to sell race cars and other high priced cars. In the past four games thats how funded myself to build my ideal car collection, by just selling the prize cars I don't need. I wish they would just set it up like GT4 where you can recomplete a race or a series as much as you want and get a prize car every time that you can sell for credits. If that were the case I wouldn't need trading. The only reason I traded is that I can't afford all the cars I want.

i think its a horrible idea i mean who has the time to go get 20,000,000 cr and use it all up on a stupid classic car

Those cars are legendary - those cars were made before your parents even thought about kids. Before my parents thought about me. Hell, my dad was merely 15 years old when that GT40 was a race car and even 3 years younger when the XJ13 made it to the track. Those cars are classics and worth the credits they cost. They are everything but stupid - they are just part of racing history.

Funnily enough a Ferrari 330 was sold recently in England for 12,000,000 pounds. At the current exchange rate 12,000,000 pounds would be 19,500,000 dollars. Taking the GT5 credit to be roughly based on the dollar, the price of the classic cars is just about exactly correct :P

They are worth doing the Indy race 2,500 times and frying your PS3, ok.

That post was made of pure win. 👍

Hate it, now my F10 is stuck on my GTP account, which is my sub account I rarely use.:grumpy:

My X2010 is locked into my sub account, guess I have to git grindin if I want one back in the main account :dopey: For the record, I never duped or traded, so I am not going to sweat it.

I'm surprised the poll is this close.

No, I don't like it. I think they took it one step too far. They should have done something like no gifting cars over $3 million (so that includes all the lemans cars, f1s, x1s). There wasn't much rampant duping of anything else anyways. No one's going to go through all the hassle of duping a honda raybrig nsx for example.

You know, if you think about it, the whole $1m gifting restriction is useless. Someone tell me what the difference is if someone is gifted an X2010 and uses it to get ahead in an inappropriate race and if someone borrows an X2010 and uses it to get ahead in an inappropriate race. Either way, that person can still cheat and use a car when they're not supposed to, so the argument for the whole restriction thing is nothing but a straw man argument.

Kaz tried to fix cheating by allowing us to cheat another way.

I couldn't vote.

Apart from "like "and "dislike" there should also be a "I don't care"

Don't care about trading at all, gave a few car's to a friend to halp him out for our friendly online competition. But that 's it.

Guys can someone answer me to something?
I tried to send the Zonda LM Race Car, that costs under a million (991,005 Cr based to mygranturismo.net) and i couldn't..... but i have it fully tuned and engine+chassi rebuild.
any ideas?
It matters if you have tunned it or rebuild it?

Correction: (Stupid Classic) should be Exotic Classics.. ain't she a beauty?

Well, it's a matter of opinion. I like them, but they really aren't that special compared to most other cars. And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, making them cost an outrageous amount doesn't help at all. Even if the Viper GTS-R from GT2 was in this game as a 20,000,000 car, I wouldn't want to deal with all the needless grinding involved to get the credits.

Actually, as per my post above, the cost is almost exactly correct. A Ferrari 330 was sold in Britain recently for 12,000,000 pounds. That converts to something like 19,500,000 dollars. Assuming the GT Credit is roughly based on the dollar, the classic cars cost roughly their real world value.

Back in the day when people were angry about not being able to copy the save file (remember... those were the days), people mentioned cloud based saving.
This would be the solution to all the trouble. It would ban the duping of cars, but would still make it possible to trade.
They could make a system where there is a copy protected save on your PS3 (to allow offline play) that backs up to the servers of PD every time you log in.

Again, I am not opposed to duping, but as it is a glitch I am also not opposed to 'fixing' it.

The patchwork solutions they come up with now are just crippling the game in a way duping never did.

edit: Maybe this has been mentioned in this thread. I have read most of it, but certainly not all.

I really think this should be the way it should be done, the cars keep the value they should have, but you could still trade if someone has one you fancy a little more. Besides to keep it to the ones with the :"this isnt realistic" guys, you could buy and test a car offline and if it doesnt suit or please you, you dont aste your money. Since "in reality" which racing team would buy an lm car buy just looking at specs n a sheet?? Examle sachspeed, you really think they would have used the Viper if Chrysler/Dodge had said: first you buy it then you can race mod them.

Probably because the 995.... Cost is for the used with mileage and the price of this car as a new one exceeds the 1000000 cr. mark

A game is suppose to be fun. If there are elements in a game that helps add MORE fun, regardless whether people can exploit or use in moderation, then it's rather counterproductive to REMOVE those elements. PD's actions only serve to isolate themselves from gamers who wanna play and have fun. Those people who LIKE what PD did obviously don't care about what other people's idea of fun is. So...

1. I bought a game. I wanna play it for fun, using whatever capabilities it has. Updates should be there to improve or enhance the fun factor. NOT limit it!

2. Those people who LIKE it should be the ONLY ones with the restrictions. If I have a REAL car and dupe it and make REAL money out of it, then you have every right to tell me off. This is a GAME! Tis MY right to do what I want! Ergo, you guys can go stick your heads where the sun don't shine!

I guess your not here to make friends.
Regardless, I liked it in March, and like it now. To each his own.

I can't even remember the reason they implemented the 1 million restriction anymore, if it was to stop 'spreading' the X2010 then it's pointless now since they themselves gave each player an X2010 after Vettel won the championship.
If it was to stop people stealing cars by only receiving and not giving their one when trading then that also is the responsibility/risk taken by each individual player since it isn't labelled a trade function but a gift function (for friends, not strangers).
Obviously it was going to be used for trades (I used it for that) and in hindsight they could've perhaps also made this easier to do without that risk by making it possible to only send if both players put their cars in a 'box' simultaneously or something like it.

Now this wouldn't be a huge concern if all those multi-million cars had a resale value attached which isn't the case, now if you win an expensive car you already own and don't need (or can't paint/customize to make it look different) you can only remove it from your garage or just leave it sitting in the delivery truck.

So no, I don't like nor understand the 1 million restriction and would like it to be removed again, if I want to trade with strangers and risk not getting my part of the deal, that's up to me.
