And defective turrets. The turrets had me in stitches.

Defective turret: Clackty Clackty Clack Clack
Defective turret: Nows my big chance
Defective turret: Bullets? Where do i get bullets?
Defective turret: Oh thanks, you saved my bacon, what where are we going?, is this a jail break?
Defective turret: Ya hows it going!

I have the Want You Gone song in 256kb/s MP3, which i extracted from the VPK files

No you are off by quite a bit. I beat the first 21/21 test chambers levels within 2 and a half hours 3 hours. Thats just a basic tutorial to the game and that was fun. Thats classified as chapter 4 and there are 9 total "chapters". That is less than the halfway point. Then the game changes and the chapters are very strange. I am getting closer to the end of the game. I have about 7 or 8 total hours into the game now and have been using the blue, orange and other colored gels.

*Edit: Yes there are 9 total "chapters" I am at the end of Chapter 7 early chapter 8. The part you are talking about is only chapter 4.

Did not want to go way off so i said 20-25% to be sure ;)

It´s a massive game for sure. The ending is pretty good aswell.

I did the game in around 7 hours i think, it says 15 but me and my brother played on the same account but on different computers.

Picked it up on last Wednesday and did as Arstechnica suggested. Take your time, one glass at a time - don't drink from the bottle (-:

According to Steam, it took me 17 hours for the SP part (No - I'm not the sharpest spork in the drawer). What an amazing amazing game. Now I'm restarting to get all the trophies.

GladOS: "Look at you. Soaring through the air like an eagle.. Piloting a blimp".

Finished SP game today and loved it. Where the first Portal was great in all its novelties, Portal 2 is just awesome. Great story, puzzles and overall presentation. The end-game did remind me very much of Half Life's end-game though. Which is not a bad thing by the way. I already restarted playing the game (only got 19 trophies the first time round). :dopey:

I bought this game off Ebay Sunday night. I'm hoping it will be here tomorrow. Tracking info states that it has been processed through some place in Chicago suburbs this morning.

It's a goodun. Only annoyance is that w/o Steams cloud save function you only get 3 total save slots. Since the game uses 1 for auto saves that effectively only leaves you with 2 slots to assign saves to. Not a big deal as far as just getting through the game, however if you are actually interested in trophies/GP's then you might want to plan ahead for the less obvious achievements. If you don't you will have to play through the game again to get them as there isn't a "select chapter" option available in the main menu. Like I said, not a huge deal as the gameplay is good enough to support more than one play through, but something personally I would have rather known about at the beginning. Just thought I'd give ya the heads up since I was thinking about it.

Also... this has got to be the Un-"official" theme song for P2 right?! GlaDOS being a "she" and all... just too perfect :D

Edit...

Check that, after completing the game when you select "New Game" it does give you the option to select a specific chapter. My apologies for the misinformation.

Play Single Player > New Game > select a chapter

Or is that not available in the console versions? :odd:

edit: ninja edit tree'd

Yeah I just barely corrected myself in time . After I finished it and didn't see a "Continue Game" option I erringly assumed trying NG would start me at the beginning. Whoops :guilty:.

Valve Details First Portal 2 DLC Pack

New test chambers, challenge mode, more this summer for free.

Good news: you can save your money to spend on tattered hats and beard dirt after all. Valve confirmed today it is targeting the summer for the release of its first Portal 2 DLC pack, and in classic Valve fashion, the studio announced the new test chambers will be free on all platforms.

In a brief statement, the Bellevue, Washington developer said the first DLC pack will feature leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, new test chambers to solve, and more.

Best of all, Valve said it will follow the standard it set on PC by making the DLC pack free on all platforms, including Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I wish they would start announcing HL2:EP3... It´s been way to long now, i´m starting to doubt it´s even being made.

"The cake is a lie" like they say ;)

Game was delivered today apparently but someone else picked up the mail on their way out of town without letting me know first.

Been playing for the last couple of days on and off, it's defiantly a well written and directed game. So far I can't find anything to dislike everything is pitch perfect.

All right so I've got the game now. Is this steam code a stand alone thing that I can sell or give away or does it have to be linked to my PSN?

Yeah it has to be linked to your PSN. I suppose you could give your PC Steam account info to a friend and then they might/could play on their PC with your account, but even if it works probably not worth the effort.

On a unrelated note, finally had to use a guide to smash my final TV (Chap 8, test chamber 16). Little annoyed I couldn't figure out the 2nd step but after watching the help video I must admit the final bit was pretty unintuitive. So SP now 100% complete, good stuff.

Was that the one with the gel and wave float thing?

Probably the one you are thinking of... blue repulsion gel, "wave tube" bridge and 3 turrets behind a clear blast wall.

8:30 of this video (Warning: contains spoilers for the Smash TV achievement/trophy):

That one took me a bit, but I also wasn't aiming for the achievement. I should probably sit down and work on that a bit, since I just did a play through. Was more interested in the dialog than anything else; I honestly thought most of the puzzles were easier than in Portal 1, though that could just be I am much more use to the idea of portals after playing through both games in short order back to back.

Yeah just getting through the room wasn't too bad at'tal. Little bit of trial and error and then you're pretty much through. Although I never played P1 I was actually expecting more puzzles and harder puzzles at the end, don't' have a good reason why really just was.

W/o question, the dialogue in the game is the star of the show.

Speaking of here's a link to a text dump (should stand to reason it does contain spoilers):

Not only that but there's a lot of dialog most people won't hear, for example right in the very beginning there are some extra lines if you wait in the room instead of jumping out. Many, many things like this. The dialog triggers are expertly scripted in the level design as well.

Dialog gives the game charm, which is what makes it so damn good.

Are you sure you're near the end? I found myself thinking I was near the end when I was far from it (Portal 1, anybody? :D)

Well apparently it's the
final battle with wheatly.
I like the dig at Black Mesa too nice touch by Valve. So many cool things to see and do. Your probably correct though, it does keep you guessing.
