Kent, i'm totally in agreement with you.I too will wait till GT5 comes out to buy PS3 but if you say PD is delayed by the sheer number of cars it wants in the game, do you mean GT5's gonna come out with 700+????.

If nothing else, I'll provide a different gripe.
These delays are caused by PD due to their use of so many different cars (I know that's great in a way 👍 ).

Most likely, 90% of the cars that will be in GT5, is already made with enough polys in GT4. - So I they "only" need to create the newly added ones.

So my guess is, getting all the bugs ironed out before releasing. Coding a new engine from scratch, for a new system, and this time with extended online capabilities...

Take your time PD, rather a solid release than a buggy POS... (Old sk00l Windows 95 Style - "HEY - It compiles - Ship it!")

Plus the Dual Shock 3 should be the controller bundled in the PS3 by then, not the SIXAXIS. That gives you another reason hold off on buying a PS3 until GT5 comes out. There are more reasons, but it would take a while to list them all.

Egads! They're including Nissan?? Awesome! I wonder if they'll have any Skylines?

You are joking aren't you?

They have always had Nissan in GT, and the Skyline is such a familar face in GT now it isn't worth getting excited about.

A while back I thought that was the case but at this point I seriously doubt it. Had that been the case, I doubt it would have taken this long to model the new cars that were not in GT4.

My guess is that it is not the bugs being ironed out but instead, the delays are the direct result of overly optimistic release dates combined with a gross under-estimation of the work required to achieve all the various parts of what PD hopes to include in GT5.
The cars (in this case, the less than awesome cars) are just one more part of a rather large work list.

At this point I'm not too concerned with what is causing the delays but I can say this much with confidence... If PD delivers a product that is not top notch I will be very, VERY, disappointed.

GT4 went through these same delays and in the end it was far from being a complete product. In my opinion GT4 was an awesome game, absolutely one of my favorites ever. However, that doesn't change the fact that it was delayed for far too long and yet in the end it still didn't have the most basic features (such as a racing brake upgrade that actually changed the braking performance of the car).

Not sure if that's a bug (I'd say it's not a bug) but hopefully PD will take this delay time and use it in the right places (not in places like TV Modes and Photo Modes that only serve as secondary game modes to the actual game play).

Here's to hoping PD gets it right!

Here's what I'm thinking...
I hope delays are a result of this (not 56K friendly :ouch: ).

Right now PD could be doing anything and I'd like to think they are doing their best. 👍

Great Hondas, Kent

I don't think we should be talking about delays so soon though... The fact is that the only date PD gave us was the Japanese release for early December and so far that hasn't been delayed; we didn't have a Pal or Us release date and experience tells us those are usually 3 or more months after GT games come out in Japan and that seems to be the case again.
Also this time, without region coding, we're able to get the Asian disc versions without worrying with chiping our PlayStations or, for those who have a credit card that works in other continents, there's also the chance to donwload the game!

Don't get me wrong, it's just that maybe we should save our breath and patience for when the REAL delays come - and, again, experience also tells us they're most likely to come.

I agree. I've not heard of any delays for NA or PAL so I'm wondering where did that news about delays came from.

Prologue was supposed to come out in October for Japan and December in PAL. NA was not in plan, but then SCEA issued a press-release regarding NA release without any dates on. It was situation roughly 14 days ago, prior to TGS.

TGS then gave us revisited plan - another demo in October and game in December for Japan. PAL was not mentioned. Two days later I got an information about PAL being postponed to March 2008 - probably to correspontd with launches of both Home service and new DualShock3 controller.

While NA release date is still uncertain in every case.

I just hope the delays are coming from more new cars.
I doubt they are but it would be really great to see the delays coming from PD's desire to include cars that are being released right now. Stuff like the E92 M3, that Super Taikyu Civic racecar I linked to in my last post, the C6 Z06, and all sorts of other cars might be overlooked by PD just because they've come out in the last year. Although I hope that's not the case, I'm not exactly expecting them to be in the game.

Hence, my biggest hope for these delays is that they are a result of adding great new cars to the game.

i doubt it will be just about modeling cars, more likely it would be the tracks. the tracks and surroundings esp. the nurb would have to take forever. I think when the tracks are complete they car release and any cars they still want to add can then be sold to download.

I can see tracks taking more time than cars for sure. 👍
Cars can be moved. :sly: :D
My last post was an example of my hopes (just as "tracks" would work) for the reasons behind delays.
If the delays turn out to be a matter of PD waiting on other people like Sony (in relation to online features) then I'd be a little disappointed.

Nothing new there and what's more, how can they call it an interview? It's just a very short summary of the TGS presentation...

Hey, I just want to know what Celux is. The front news section of the GT site says something about GT5:P being exhibited there. There could be the possibility of new features being shown. Does anyone know anything about it or at the very least what PD's article even says?

All the contact email addresses are @jp.vuitton.com (Louis Vuitton). I'm guessing it's some sort of upscale exhibition gallery.

The principle architectural intervention was to link both major levels spatially and commercially, creating a background for the ever-changing seasons of products on display. Product display was concentrated on the two longitudinal elevations, extending the full height of the vertical planes.
One of the keys was to break the connotations of Luxury and Fashion by breaching the expected traditional use of Architectural materials and their placement. Custom materials, furniture and light fixtures with industry leaders were developed specifically for this project.

the balcony bar looks amazing!

EDIT: something else, with pictures of an SLR (not sure it's GT5 though...)

I'm quite certain it is, notice the watermark (if you can call it that) in the corners, and the trees are flat, an indicator of GT.

Which means perhaps a new (old) car from the third picture?

Wow, if those SLR pics from the second link are from GT5, i don't know how else to explain it. Talk about blurring the lines between game and reality. Opinions?

EDIT: Yeah, judging by those watermarks, those must be in game. That's ridiculously sweet.

Sweet JESUS!!!! By the looks of it, it seems that they have every version of the SLR in the game. TO THE MASTER LIST I GO, I ( really do enjoy pestering the359). And could someone ID the older racer? Its probably an SLR but I dont know the full name.

It seems I actually contributed to something with my questions. *pats self on the back*

edit- Now that I look at it it seems to be the original press pics. *looks down in shame* That makes me a sad panda.

Yeah I finally found the english button and read what little i could. It seems these re just background pics for the PS3. BUT the watermarks get me thinking that we may see the full SLR line (not including the concept or the GTR models) in the final game.

And has anyone gone to the korean GT site. This is the best one ive seen to date.

It's the real car and that Korean site is not a official one ;)

Those SLR pictures are definately NOT in-game pictures. If you look at the one with the messy hair guy sitting in the car, it's real photos of the SLR itself. Not just that but the background is wayyyyy too detailed, even for photomode.
