My virtual gut is telling me, from what we have seen so far: RX, Time Attack, GT1, Indy, Group A, Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan, Mitsubishi, etc. Touring Car and Stock Car racing feels like those are the next reveals. After that, I'd go with cars made in Italy.

There is so much to be revealed. It's almost endless.

Yes but additional footage, like people playing it at e3. I have the 'I must play pcars2 as soon as possible disease. '

Do please show me which frame you saw the Mazda DPi in as I give a lot more than a "flying monkey" about driving that.

Not sure if this is the video everyone is talking about, but the Mazda LMP2 (Not the DPi) is featured starting at 0:42

Is that a thing? Had Bandai Namco bought some space on the show floor? I would've thought that the E3 sizzle trailer was all that we were going to get.

The fact that Turn 10 chose to spend their time unveiling a Porsche (that few people in the crowd would be able to tell apart from a 911 Turbo), rather than waxing lyrical about what makes their game special (IMSA Weathertec License - I saw the Daytona Prototype International Mazda in the trailer) speaks to how much it stood out like a sore thumb. Nobody gave a flying monkeys about the car being there.

It's not the DPi Mazda. It's the 2016 LMP2 (Lola chassis).

Good interview. When you see this in game and 'trailer' footage and you compare to e.g. GT Sport the gap is getting closer and closer. Add the Livetrack 3.0, career mode, dynamic seasons etc and you've got a winner!! And also/already high hopes for FBB/physics when you read all the Q&A in Ian Bells topic.
What's also good are race weekends. For people that have not played PC1, 2 Practice sessions of however long you want, followed by Qualifying and even a Warm Up session before the race. Plenty of time to drive around without actually racing. Time to experience the car, weather & track conditions. All the while having up to 44 other cars driving around.

One thing I haven't picked up in the Q&A: On console, has the number of cars on track been confirmed for Nurburgring? Monza currently holds 45 and the full Nurb 24H track doesn't.

Not sure but I think I have read 29/35 somewhere. Same number as PCars1?

Thought of the day that we, as psuedo-insiders, tend to look over:

Project CARS 2 will feature Dynamic SEASONS.

Forza thinks it is the bees knees with dynamic weather. How about an entire 365 day calendar?
It's ok. If you haven't learned by now turn10 is a slow paced addition type of company. We probably won't see that until forza 8 or 9. I do give them a pat on the back for at least adding dynamic weather and looks like day night cycle too. But yes project cars 2 gets the cake for having actual seasons too.

Forza kind of is what it is. They don't have to push the envelope. What I find interesting is that both Forza 7 and GT Sport are adding "new" features that Project CARS has had since 2015.

So that begs this question, imagine if project cars had at least a forza like car roster of say 500 cars with a full model view inside an out ( call it a forzavista knockoff)on launch...Would they still have these great features?

Yes. Because the previous iterations would have done the main base of the features and this would just be a smaller idea SMS wanted to do but wanted to do it later on in the series.

All I'm saying is turn10 has taken a slower approach while yeah I think it sucks because by the 7th iteration you would expect a whollleee lot more realism but at the same time small features every other game has helped them keep pushing each one out. I don't full on weather/ season features if at all until the next one or forza 9

I would guess that if SMS had a team and budget the size of Forza, they'd have something akin to Forzavista if they wanted. This is the second game of the series versus Forza's 7th (10th including Horizon), so there is a lot of headroom for additional features that are outside the scope of racing/driving for Project CARS. Photomode (rumored to be in pC2), avatars, extra cars, etc.

As for more cars, from everything I have read, SMS has been determined to include cars that are relevant to racing and motorsport that "fit" within the game as a whole. Adding more cars by simply paying more money is something they could do, but have decided to use those resources elsewhere. Considering that each car has its own Physics and Handling characteristics which must be coded along with the model itself, I am ok with this. But there are huge numbers of people who simply want more cars regardless of how they handle or if they are realistic or relevant to the game.

In development, it all comes down to what the devs deem as important. To me, and probably to the core of the Project CARS fanbase, a Forzavista-type feature would be a waste of resources better spent elsewhere if it comes down to an either-or scenario. The strategy has seemed to be the development of the foundation of a genuine racing game.

To me the foundation is this:
  • Realistic/Dynamic Tire Model
  • Realistic/Dynamic Track Surfaces
  • Realistic/Dynamic Handling and Physics, individually tuned for each car included in the game.
  • Realistic/Dynamic Time of Day, Weather and Seasons
  • Realistic/Dynamic, high-quality AI
  • Fully Customized Racing Weekends Online and Offline
  • Comprehensive Offline Career Ladder Mode spanning decades
  • eSports with complete Broadcast Presentation options

I am sure I missed something, but you get the idea.

It is easy to see these other games and spot cool features that are missing from the Project CARS Series and kind of wish they were in. But, converse to that, with the exception of the eSports aspect (GT Sport will include this as well), no game on the market does anything on that list.

And this is probably where @IanBell would drop the mic.

Well said man lol. Nothing like a friendly debate and I do agree with forza vista being a waste while at the same time it is a nice feature for Forza especially considering they are doing for all 700+ cars....now to project cars, I do like the direction they are taking in terms of features and definitely the car roster. While it's not 500 or even 700, the cars thus far that's included is motorsport worthy and honestly has me already anticipating the roster for PC3. Like I've said before I will be getting both games, already have PC2 preordered. One will be my fun, car collecting, near perfect visuals game while the other will be my serious racer, true sim and beautiful racer.

I'd be all in on Forza 7 being the fun car-collecting game for me, but after watching the footage yesterday I remembered (from my GT days) all of the silly races you have to complete to win more cars. It kinda made me a bit nauseous. When I was younger I guess I had a stomach for it. I don't know if I do anymore.
And after more research yesterday, I think Horizon would be the better fit for me anyway. I love a good car collecting/modding/painting game.

And, to be fair, I love the look of Forzavista. I do not think it is a waste, per se. Especially for Forza. Or even Gran Turismo. There is a large enough segment of the fanbase of those car games that enjoy the photographic aspect to warrant it being in the game and accentuated as a major feature. I quite liked the Gran Turismo Photo Mode. My wife, a photographer, even played around with it. If they add that to Project CARS I would not complain at all.

As for the future of Project CARS...can you imagine a complete year-by-year grid of Le Mans? Heck, after all the of the DLC it wouldn't shock me to see the PC2 car list balloon to nearly 300 cars. Once the foundation is laid, they can focus on adding a lot of furnishing and niceties.

I have some doubt on several points.

AI
- I hope a real hard work in AI, because many players was disappointed to AI in Pcars1. At this moment, I'm not convinced at all about a better AI in Pcars2. Specially when human don't follow help line, like AI cars.
Tire - Tire Model tested by Mclaren and Porsche Driver is a a very good point.
Track - i hope a more realistic time in each track, even in gamepad (ex: 3:52 in GT3 at Le Mans).
Career - i'm not convinced about a real interesting career - some liveries (manufacturer and logitech/momo, etc.) to unlock in career will be interesting
