That bump at Sakitto is smoothed out. I worked personally with the artist to get that fixed last week. Smooth as a baby's butt now (don't ask me how i know that).

If we ever did get the license for Suzuka, we would need to drop Sakitto.
I'd only worry about Suzuka if we got GT500 cars. Until then, I'm good. 👍

Thank you for the information. I don't understand why there is no greenery in Sonoma, Laguna Seca .... at a time of year like in real life. I mean, SMS has done a good job about seasons on the trees ( for example) but not on the sides of the track, it does not make sense. Can be an oversight? @IanBell

So, 59 out of 60 locations have seasonal changes bar 1? What build was tested?

I think there may be some confusion about what the seasonal changes will entail from a technical point of view. Looking at the many videos on YouTube it looks to me like the changes will be on the texture and environmental effects level only (not to imply this is not a huge progress in sims already), never in geometry.

Adding seasonal trees and foliage in general would be a bit more complex endeavor, if the goal would be to do it right (as I'm sure it would be). I mean how should they start appearing when you can select the date to the day? Clearly, they couldn't just be missing one day and pop up the next. When you start considering all implications you will quickly realize, that basically the growing of foliage would need to be modeled in all stages and the correct stage loaded for the selected date. This is a bit beyond the scope of racing sims I think, for now at least. The funny thing is that I think this question only comes up because of the many improvements SMS made in this regard already.

Scaff is correct. We'll 'showcase their track whilst paying them for the privilege' when the price is acceptable.

I just want to say, I'm so glad that a studio head publicly acknowledges this. I always thought it ridiculous, that devs have to pay to essentially advertise cars, track and race series in their products. Sure, they profit from them as well, but I know for sure that at least I wouldn't be excited at all about certain real brands, locations and races if sims wouldn't have them. Surely, considering everything, license holders are benefiting much more. When they do exclusive deals with certain studios I feel like putting my head through a wall.

I was being sarcastic. Doesn't bother me about green grass at Laguna Seca.

Well, add my voice to the group that does NOT want Suzuka at the expense of Sakitto. In my opinion, Sakitto has a much better flow and rhythm to it. The hairpin and Casino Chicane on Suzuka really disrupt the flow in my mind. And the elevation changes at Sakitto are much bigger than Suzuka too, which I also like.

As much as I love Sakitto - and it really is a fantastic substitute for Suzuka if you can lose your "The real thing is better because it's real" bias - if we were to get Suzuka, at some point in the future, I wouldn't miss it before too long. Since Suzuka is still, realistically, out of reach, I'd rather have this damn fine substitute - that allows for some brilliant racing - than no track at all :).

Same here. I thought the car manufacturers and tracks would have been paying the games/devs for the advertisement of showcasing their products in the games.

The movie industry (a branch of entertainment like games) gets this privilege for some reason. GM pays big money to have their cars in Transformers (Michael Bay ain't shelling out for that). It's probably that games dont drive enough revenue for manufacturers (or this data doesnt exist yet) to warrant the same business model that the movie industry enjoys. Wasnt bumblee a VW Beetle? How did he become a Camaro in the movie?? Money talks

Sakitto is pretty damn fun and kinda scary because it's such a fast track. Is it too far for me to say that the track has one of the highest average speeds in the game? Potentially up there with Spa and Monza?

24H Portimao race is on. Maybe we can compare lap times to the game, with same conditions. TCR looks good.

This is probably not the right discussion board, however have a what would you do question? My #1 game of this year will certainly be PC2 and currently just have a PS4 and a budget wheel since GT27 is not compatible. The car roster in FM7 appears to be going to be the best of any car game to date. I am kind of in the need or maybe it is more of a want for a PC that could run them both. I would say my budget for a good PC that could do that and perhaps run Inventor or other CAD software would be $800 and maybe up to $1,200. Is that in the general ball park, do not need a monitor as for days when would race for more then say 2 hours at a time would hook it up to my 4K TV. I am sure that PC2 will meet most peoples expectations including mine. GT sport on the other hand who knows - yes it looks great - however overall playability and enjoyment (after the intial aww) will be lacking and behind the times. I will probably take a wait and see aproach, play PC2 on the PS4 and maybe rent GT sport over xmas if it is out by then. By then their will be plenty of actual detailed reviews on all the current car games that will be released by the end of the year. I know that the track roster and to a certain degree the car physics in FM7 will not be like the others. What is the expect max car fields (offline) for FM7 and GT sport? Just looking for some general quick overview discussions or summaries not arguments for one way or the other.

@IanBell Ok, so I'm finally watching the IMSA race at VIR and it confirms that I really want you guys to license the Risi livery for the 488 GTE. The 62 and the 82 livery from LeMans are incredible. It also should be included because they managed to put up a fight against factory Fords at LeMans last year.

Edit: would also love to see some of the MSR Acura NSX liveries. Especially the July 4th special livery and the latest pearl blue and red liveries. Ok, that's enough requesting from me.

The max car field offline in FM7 should be 24 and in GT Sport 20, but i'm not 100% sure.

Forget the liveries, what about VIR itself?

I miss Suzuka.

Sorry, Sakitto doesn´t cut it. Considering the number of posts before me, i think it´s an obligation to say just how much i love this track.

A Suzuka-Motegi-Sepang pack with SuperGT cars would be so awesome.

Just watched the race on Sunday and i don´t want to "have to" play them in GT with it´s wonky physics and sounds.

So when do the leaves turn brown and start falling off the trees in pCARS 2? I'm guessing they don't do it organically throughout the transition from summer to autumn (or maybe they do?), so there must be a cut-off date for that to happen. I suppose SMS have restrictions in play so that this transition doesn't happen in the middle of a race weekend (lots of green leaves during quali on a Saturday, a lot less leaves and mostly brown ones during Sunday's race) but that transition - I'm guessing - will still be like flicking a switch. I'd love to be wrong though.

Having a greener, lusher (and more appropriately true-to-life) winter Laguna Seca wouldn't necessarily involve geometry changes or adding winter trees and foliage. Simply (yeah - there's that word again) swapping the beige dirt out for green grass would - you'd think - be fairly simple art pass modification that could go a long way to placing the player in a more appropriate environment for the time of year. Seasons is a fantastic addition to the pCARS franchise but I'm surprised that it's not been fully embraced in this way.

I'm guessing (again with the guesses!) that this is simply down to time, resources and priorities, but it would be good to hear something official from an SMS staffer. Especially if there's even an outside possibility of it coming in a post-release update.

totally agree with you.

From what I have seen and read, the leaves don't fall off the trees at all. Again, a design decision to save game resources for the more important stuff.

Take a look at the many snow videos. The trees all have snow on their leaves. Doesn't really bother me, as I see that every few years here in real life anyways.
