Some said the graphics are so bad compared to Project Cars 2...

And in motion it can look worse, the entire series has taken a step back graphically as its progressed from PC through to PC3

In particular, the 'ring in autumn isn't a patch on the original PC.

1. Ferrari 288 GTO. What's up with this car's sounds? Every time I push the throttle it starts to whistle. Is it some kind of engine peculiarity, or a bug?
It's not just the 288, I drove the 911 Carrera around the ring last night and it sounded like I had a bunch of mice in the car behind me at high engine rev's.

BTW the ring in the afternoon, in autumn, looks just bizarre, it's so overdone (see the second video above).

I haven't really catched up with all the topics here but I found some DLC information.

With their emphasis on Legends, Style, Drift, and Electric, each DLC enjoys 3 new cars (and their race conversion kits) licensed from the world’s most elite brands along with unique customisation and career elements including new liveries, decals, characters with outfits and helmets, and a lot more.

I'll take 3 legends and one style pack instead, thanks.

The turbo makes it sound like a visit to the dentist. That's the good thing about custom races, I won't waste my money buying it in the career.

At least the car that peaked my interest in the game, didn't let me down. Love doing 'one make' races with it and it's one of the cars that works great across the different camera views.

Had a fun night yesterday with online quick races. Many fun combos. Racing wasn't GT Sport like clean, but as my rating was going up, things were becoming better.

Completed Road E, but I am missing one achievement, the Pace Setter at Sakitto.
I can barely run at 1:31 average, any ideas how to keep the 1:30 average?

Anyhow, in some races the graphical quality is really (and I mean really really REALLY) bad.

Just done the night race at Texas Speedway, part of the final championship of Road E, and was the festival of low frame rate, poor reflections and jaggies. Jaggies, jaggies, jaggies everywhere.
I honestly don't remember a racing game in the last three years so poor visually.

I used Nissan Skyline which felt pretty OP compared to AI cars most of the time.
Still, this event took some time for me to beat. I don't know if this will help or not, but in my experience most of Sakitto corners are 5-10% less tight than similar corners on Suzuka. Try throwing yourself into the first corner with some trail braking. No need to brake for corner 3, but gotta brake right after you pass it to prepare for turn 4. The last chicane is much easier than the one from Suzuka, you can go through that part pretty quickly.

At least that's what helped me to improve my lap times there. Cheers

To be fair, under daytime and dry weather conditions, PC3 performs nicely, I think on par with PC2.

The big mess is under night times or rain conditions, in these cases the graphics take a considerable hit.
I don't remember PC2 was looking so bad in these cases.

And also, they simplified substantially the core of the game, the consoles are always the same, but PC3 is on par (best case scenario) or subpar with PC2.
Something is weird, isn't it?

Thanks, I will give it a try.

Apart from the 'ring in autumn, which in PC3, even in daylight, looks like a day-glow acid-trip.

I basically bought a PS4 because of Project Cars 2, and hopefully 3. This game has me just baffled. What a complete waste of resources, in my opinion of course. Can't see how this will make any money. My crystal ball shows this one going into the CLEARANCE BIN in record time for the franchise.

If you've not played it and its cheap, the original is still in my mind worth picking up. Its got a number of cars that never made it to the rest of the series (a lot of Aerial Atoms for a start and a wonderful Caterham Classic) and actually is the best looking and sounding title in the series.

I did a one-make race this night with it at Indianapolis inside at dusk. It's gorgeous in VR, handling and sound are superb too.

Try theese if you want : one make race with bmw 320 E90 at Jerez ! One make jaguar xj220 race car (sounds top !) in orchschenleben?? And catherham one make at knockhill. F40 racing one make at Mugello.

And I had a lot of fun too with one make Megane race car at Watkins Glen ! !!

I move up forcefeedback gain and vibrations to 100%. Tune at 50%. It's nice how the wheel is vibrating at high speeds.

This next question would sound like a massive earth quake if you would hear this 2 years ago, but what is the best way to grind for XP/cash in Project CARS?
On PC you can use Cheat Engine. Seriously you will need to grind a lot if you want a lot of cars. I think the career gives you the most with objectives. Online races also works fine.

Anyone else having trouble with this event on Sakitto national?

AIs pass first corner as if they are driving GT3 cars, little to no brake and smooth trajectory, overtaking me like I'm standing. I already tried Alpine and Aston Martin, and a few more cars in practice, but I'm so far from pulling off something like that. Didn't have an issue at any other event with the same difficulty.

took me also 3 tries. Made it with the Jaguar F-Type and it also took some blocking.AI is mental into first corner. You need to be at least 4th after the first 3 corners

Use the Jaguar, upgraded to the class limit, that will do the trick, did for me.

Just tried out the monthly rivals event at Jerez and one of the ghosts names that popped up was Scaff :)
Really like this one, never raced this track before and it’s quite good. Love this pace setter type of event in general.

Alright, a friend let me try out PC3 so here's what I think of it so far.

It's not as bad as I was expecting, quite honestly. The physics are pretty good, the only negative part being those hidden assists @MagpieRacer was talking about.
Career is quite uninspiring IMO but it's not a total drag, at least so far. AI is pretty mixed aswell, I set it to max difficulty/strength and was able to leave them in the dust mostly (but they would catch up if I made a mistake)
Haven't tried multiplayer yet but I'd imagine it's pretty damn fun.

Is the Scottish Weather event in D class bugged or something?

It's annoying me more than it should.

I only got a little time with the game last night and am checking in here quick before playing more today, with a post of my full first impressions coming later. I just wanted to say thanks for reminding me to make this one of the first cars I check -- after only a quick spin, it proves that I'm going to get along with this game juuuuuust fine. :D

Thrashing the Caterham on Azure Coast last night was also an eye-opener. The analog stick steering is certainly heavy-handed and still leaves a margin of room for improvement, but not even Enthusia could make its Caterham as controllable with a controller. There's something to be said for that.

I have more to investigate with both the physics and the steering still.

This rivals event at Jerez really highlights massive improvements SMS made with pad handling over previous games. Every lap I drive I keep getting better and better and I feel confident in my car. I don’t have to focus on just making sure the car doesn’t somehow magically spin out like it sometimes felt in pCARS 2. It feels damn good just putting lap after lap in. Have to say, this for me is the best racing game I’ve played on consoles with a pad. I won’t argue that it’s not in the same category in terms of physics and motorsport simulation as other games, but in terms of how it feels to drive with the pad I think it’s exactly what I was looking for.

My pads battery went dead during a race so had to fall back to keyboard and even with keyboard it's pretty damn' good.

I have a feeling something is just bugged with the graphics. If you pause a race, everything looks good on screen in the pause menu. As soon as you get back into it, graphics just take a massive hit. Hopefully it’s something they can fix quickly.

Though for the most part the cockpit views are ok in the few cars I’ve used, I would like the option to raise, lower, and adjust the seat forward and backwards to return from PC2. Some cars are good, others need some tweaking.

Not referring to the FOV options.

Welcome to LOD.

It happens in most video games, let alone racing games. Its normal, supposedly.

LOD is usually distance based, so for example that’s the cause of pop in and also cars having a lot less detail the farther they are from you. Here the cars in the pause menu are at the same distance as when I unpause. Also the jaggies and pixelation goes away when paused. I have a suspicion it may be some kind of an issue with their implementation of AA that makes it worse during racing.
