^How can anyone say this is not a delicious car list? It actually is great and way more attractive than what PD has offered since the launch of GT6.

It is indeed a fantastic list. Should be plenty of highlights for any motorsport fan!

On the topic of great cars, was there any reasoning or mention about the choice of Lotus 78 v 79? The 78 is obviously a very, very significant vehicle, but the 79 is one of the most iconic race cars of all time. No complaints here, I just thought it was an interesting decision.

I can only assume that the 78 was chosen because it is kind of a transitional model from the old style of F1 (Lotus 49, 72) to the new breed of F1 that was the 79 and then the 98T. Since we have the 98T, i can totally understand the reasoning behind it.

Cool, really old Jag then. Jaguar make some impressive racing cars, hopefully they return, maybe with an XJR-15/16 or something like that and challenge Porsche & Toyota at LMP1, they could run F-Type's for the GTE class.

I'd love to see a F-Type. In RL it just sounds so ****ing awesome. Eargasm all the way
I think any V8 Jaaaag sounds truly epic, even a V8 XKR or XJR would do me, but yeah, F-Type R would be awesome on PCars/ Off topic: F-Type R is such a cool name for a car!

As far as I know based on the list PCARS has or is planning:
Bentley Speed 8 LMP900
Audi R8 LMP900
Audi R18 LMP1 (multiple variations)
Oreca LMP2
Alpine LMP2 (?)
2 Fantasy LMP1's and 2 LMP2's

And those are just the post-2000 cars...considering the budget these guys have I'm EXTREMELY impressed by the LMP list. 👍 👍 Besides their "fantasy" LMP's are extremely believable.
The bentley speed 8 is (in reality) no competetion for the later le mans prototypes and the same goes for the r8..
they might have won le mans but not recently,so we're only really looking at the r18 and the 2 lmp1 fantasy cars. making a total of 3 prototypes to race with/against in the same category is rather disappointing.
The same goes for the lmp2 category, only 4 different prototypes in total..
I just hope that once they start selling the game, they'll offer us some extra cars in future updates

And its probably a safe bet that those fantasy P1 cars are going to be Clayton Toyota and Porsche,
That depends what they sound like, how they handle and even if they are hybrids..
and by the look of their aerodynamics, they do not resemble any of the two prototypes.
As for the rest,we don't know what engines they have

So having 3 (4 if you count the 2011 R18 TDI) different cars in a category where 3 (4 if you count the outclassed Rebellion) different cars raced in 2014s Le Mans is disappointing? :odd:
Same goes for 4 different LMP2s, which is disappointing cause in 2014 Le Mans there were 6 different cars... So 2/3 as much aint good enough. Alright, I m sure there are other sims that have all the Zyteks, Ligiers, Domes etc. wait, there arent? Oh my!

Sorry that pcars is disappointing you so much despite you being so easy to please. I sure hope SMS makes up for their terrible miseffort somehow. :D

i did not know only a handful of cars attended these races, thanks for the info. how about for GT3 or GT4, for example? i was talking to a work colleague last week who was complaining that 'there aren't enough cars in pCARS' (not something i agree with), but i'd be interested in knowing how many cars there were in the real life classes in comparison to the game. or should i just google it? :D

Currently homologated or currently racing this year? Or just the Blancpain series? PWC? Or???

well, seeing as you put it like that... um, how about just on average? :)

Off the top of my head, between 2011 and 2014 there are around 40 cars GT3 homologated, but only around 15 total that race globally, as some are only raced in specific GT3 or GT3 type categories that are somewhat national series only cars,

ok thanks. I was just wondering that if pCARS had, say, 8 different cars in the GT3 class (I don't actually know the real number) and typical GT3 class races in real life had 10 or 12 different cars, then there's not much difference, just like the LMP example earlier, so it'd stop people bemoaning the 'lack of cars' in this game.

HA-HA-HA
obviously you don't follow le mans much,do you?
first off.. Audi (r18 e-tron quattro),Toyota (ts040),Porsche (919) and Rebellion (R-One) raced in the 2014 edition of le mans,not Audi, an RWD P30 and a Marek RP339H
second of all, they could have added more earlier prototypes like the legendary Peugeot 908 or Pescarolo c60 courage (among others) as well as Rebellion and lotus.
There are many group c's they could have added as well.. Mazda 787b,Jaguar XJR-9,Nissan R90 C,Porsche 956-962,Peugeot 905... as well as smaller team run cars like spice or cougar.
As for the p2's,i'm not as disapointed I must admit, but it would have been nice to see some ligiers,Oak racing (onroak) morgan-nissans or even some sort of lola-judd-nissan-zytek configuration.
So yes,I will state some big disappointments about the game considering this is a Racing Simulator, implying that there should be more racing cars (aka Prototypes,gt's,open wheel...) Than road cars (sports cars or supercars..)
Having said that,I'm looking forward to project C.A.R.S as i've never quite seen such a good looking Racing game like it.

You do realize that first off Porsche are EA only...and second these guys don't have that big a budget man...can't have licenses for every single 🤬 car. We're lucky that they have the largest GT3 roster of any racing game and have included a huge variety of amazing racers.

As a massive Le Mans fan, I'm perfectly happy with the LMPs we are getting. It's by far the best roster in any game I've ever played.

And yes, they could have added ALL LMP EVER. But you know, this isn't the Project LeMans...

Btw,I do like the way they've made the two fictional Rufs
One being (basically) a porsche 997 cup and the other a 991 cup car
they look great

Maybe not,but they could have added more than three (p1-p2)
and for the other comment,as they've done with the 997 and 991 road cars and cup cars, just make the 919 but stick ruf on there instead, they've also done that for certain tracks, you just have to change the name and tweak a few things for it to work!

It doesn't work like that. RUF is a certified manufacturer, not a made-up make created solely for rebranding Porsches for racing games...

It's not that simple. You can't just change the badges of a 919, as it's still a 919 but with different badges. The reason the RGT-8 GT3 and CTR-3 SMS-R work is because RUF is a real make.

That's not the way it works. Ruf allowed racing versions of their existing cars, not to make up random race cars and put a Ruf badge on it. Also, the fictional prototypes represent privateers entering the WEC. It's basically the same thing as new companies deciding to make prototypes out of the blue.

EDIT: double ninja'd

Well, I ve been at the 2014 race myself and there is a group of 20 WMD members going to this years race as well and I m one of them. I kinda realized while being at the track that there were other cars competing there in LMP1 than the fictional LMP1s in pcars... Thank you, Dr. Obvious, I guess.

I thought you complained about only having 3 LMP1s (so quantity), if you complained about the fact that pcars wont have all 3 real 2014 LMP1s, then alright. Budget, manpower, licensing issues, real world troubles. *shrugs*

I'd imagine SMS would love to include every modern racecar there is. Unfortunately, there are quite a few things preventing that from happening ranging from licensing to just not having enough time. I feel what we have now is a very good compromise as it boosts the LMP count while not going the easy route and just basing it on an existing car.

I will say that it will be a little weird seeing a full field in non-multiclass races consisting of just 3 different cars, but even an extra model or two won't change that.

Oh yeah, this would work so great that a legal prosecution would probably be the least of the SMS problems.

Thing is, man, you want manny things that cost lots of money. SMS is a independent studio which don't have the kind of money needed to license every LMP car ever built. So, chill. Enjoy the game when it finally comes out, waiting for more cars, or simply skip it. Your unsensible attitude towards the car roster won't make a difference nor it is something that nobody thought off, or asked before

Or do you believe that thousands of WMD members didn't asked for those cars already?

(And the RWD P30 is far more interesting and appealing than the TS040 and even the 919, IMO)
