while drifting may not be in the career.
You will need to learn how to control slides in some cars. Particularly the historic stuff, hooning as the youth of today call it; has been used to test the tyre compounds for many of the vehicles. Many of the cars that we share we other sims have a similar feeling up to max grip but when the tyre slips and slides thats were the tyre model differences can be seen.

@ElBasque -- Sorry, you just touched upon something that has been a trend here, although I guess I misinterpreted you, and I apologize for that. I'm in a spell of depression and have to admit that I was harsh on you. It's not all about your post.

@GranTurismo guy -- I think virtual oval racing isn't that fun, but I don't gloat every time someone brings up NASCAR about how I'm "so happy" that oval tracks were pushed back for DLC and aren't in the base game where I'll be "forced" to run them. It's unnecessary.

My point is, PCARS already offers at least a little something for almost everybody. Everything should be welcome in a multifaceted game like this, and there will always be things that some people don't care to play or use, whether it's drift events, ovals, open-wheelers, supercars, LM prototypes, etc.

Not that I'm advocating for drift events per se (I prefer to drift on my own time), but all anyone can do is roll with whatever's included in the game.

I'm not a big fan of oval racing either but I'm actually quite looking forward to some mental races with 45 AI (or whatever is the limit for these events). should be pretty insane, especially online.

Controlling a slide in a case that the car starts to step out on you is one thing. Drifting as a form of racing is totally different. Intentionally creating massive amounts of oversteer so that you are smoking the back tires through an entire event is not racing (To me at least).

Interesting that the thread with the title "PROJECT CARS Car List" is actually a debate on drifting... back on topic, in what state are most of the cars that will be in the game at launch at (like just a few tweaks or still needing some work) :)

No one gloated over drift events, though.

@ukfan758 all at different stages.

I understand what you're saying but if we look at historic cars (trying to stay a little on topic) cars such as the lotus 49 on certain tracks benefit from 4 wheel sliding through the corners. learning how to initiate without a handbrake or scandinavian flick will aid in increasing car control. drifting ultimately relies on car control this is why we see often professional drifters having a career in rallying or circuit racing as well; because car control is what gives you the lap times.
So while yes drifting and controlling a slide are two different things many of the cars in project cars will develop your car control skills to point were a slide and a drift really isn't that different in effort.

Regarding the car list, it's set up to provide some great racing series and i'm positive every car will be implemented in the career mode like a charm, but i do think it's one of PCARS weak points.

If you played some of the other recent racing games, you already had a go with the majority of cars on offer in PCARS. The been there done that factor will be quite big like this, so i hope there's gonna be a lot of DLC car packs after release that contain original cars other racing games haven't offered so far.

This is true, but the only other game with GT3 cars I played was GT6 and coming from there, cars feel totally different. I think with lots of former GT players playing this game on PS4 (as there is no GT) having a similiar experience it won't be that much of an issue. And for the ones who already play sims on PC, I don't think that this matters that the cars are in other games too because they mostly are about racing.

But for those still complaining, I think the Indycar DLC will be worth the wait ;)

I think one of the saving graces as far as this is concerned is the realistic grid sizes and race formats. Sure most of us have probably played games with GT3 racers, but not many of us have with a grid of over 16 and actual race formats.

Just bringing the subject back to topic,
With the fictional Ruf fictional race cars would they have had to get special permission for that? Just looking at the car list there are a few other road cars that could have that fictional race car idea behind them and be able to be added to GT3 or GTE/GTLM,

Yes, SMS needed their idea of creating fictional race cars based on real road car models approved and endorsed by RUF. I have seen no signs of a similar cooperation with other manufacturers. There are more official/real race cars currently in development to be released as DLC.
