Project CARS car list

I guess I am a little odd or in the minority. I enjoyed taking a car that didn't necessarily have great handling and watch the improvements I made to it. Gave me a sense of accomplishment. Also I think a lot of the customer base for this game are coming from games like GT and Forza which are not quite full driving simulations but a good middle ground between totally arcady racing games and full simulations. This brings a wide audience and I think by going the racing cars focused route might disenfranchise a lot of that base. That is just my opinion and yet to be seen but I have always had a perception of this game as though it is a direct competitor to the GTAs and Forzas of the world. Again just my take.

- and that is what Gran Turismo 7 (whenever it is released) is for.
I also enjoy driving street cars, sometimes without tweaking them at all - other times making replicas of japanese tuner cars, but what I'm looking forward for in PCARS is the realistic simulation of actual racing.

People have been talking quite a bit about the group 5 (or 4) cars. I remembered these are also in Shift 2 but had never bought them.

I decided to buy and try them in Shift 2 yesterday (on the controller!)

  • 1978 BMW 320 Turbo Group 5
Now in spite of the Shift 2's control flaws and physics this car was an absolute hoot to drive for an hour or so. The sound was great too. I had time for a quick go in the Zakspeed Capri too and also the (non group 4/5) Escort mk I. Equally entertaining. Can't wait to try them in Project Cars.

Depending on ease of use the first "CRAP Racing" one off race event may be in one of these.

Incidentally I had a previously goodish saved control profile in Shift 2 and changed steering sensitivity to 2 which helped a lot.

Now to get some credits to try the M1 Pro car

The M1 was one of my fav cars in Shift 2, its great fun 👍

Edit: it was the RS 3.1 capri in Shift 2 not Zakspeed

I pre-ordered this game because my PS4 needs a racer.

Now as for cars being added in the future, how exactly do they go about it? I know the basis of this game is about player created stuff, but what about licensing and what not?

I would like to see Super GT cars being added.

I believe you have the wrong idea about the game. Its not about user created "stuff" but as input. Sure there are a couple WMD created cars but that's about as far as it goes.

You're thinking of Assetto Corsa. PCars is more along the lines of GT and Forza, with only dev created content. They are on a relatively small budget, less than 1/10 that of either game so the car list is relatively small so far for launch but the their is a promise of long term support for the game and both paid and unpaid DLC. I believe monthly car DLC has been mentioned. Pure guesswork, but I don't think you're likely to see Super GT cars added, for budget and access reasons mainly, but of course I could be wrong.

Keep in mind it's primarily a sim racer first and foremost. No customization, no add on parts or upgrades, and car tuning is limited to real world options and tires are based on real, period specific compounds, not generic as in GT. That means street cars have limited tuning and race cars have more tuning options than you can shake a stick at. Basically if it's adjustable on the real car, it's adjustable in the game. If not, it's not.

For GT3 cars I can say that they are balanced overall, that also means that there a car is faster than the other on certain tracks and slower on others tracks which leads to an overall balance

Like the 12C being faster on high altitude tracks due to it being the only turbocharged GT3 car...

I remember a while back people talking about this (noticeable at Mount Panorama for example)

I wouldn't call Bathurst "high altitude"

I think spa and Nurburgring are higher above sea level, its just not noticed as much because of the land surrounding them,

Is anyone going to try out all the cars???? WOW that is alot of cars! 10 would be good! But the list is huge! It would take forever to try out each one!

Hi, new member here

any news on the Lola T/96 or Reynard 96i? would love to drive those beasts, presume they could be released with Indy + other ovals + Lotus 56 + DW12(?) etc? some kind of Indy special perhaps? any time scale on the oval pack by the way?

I think they are making those for later updates or DLC :)
