In an LMP1 race last night, that Toyota out dragged me at the start of a race at Barcelona when I qualified in pole position. (I was in an Audi). Soon got past it though and won the race quite easily. Aston DBR1-2 was also in that race even though I do not have the DLC.

I think that including the DLC cars in career races is a master stroke of a move. There is more chance that I will buy them if I actually see the vehicle in action. 👍

Well it's extremely realistic then, since the advantage of the super capacitor is acceleration, but they lose charge quickly and that's when the more consistent Audi flywheel comes in.

And then the glorious V12 Aston makes all 700+ hp everywhere.

The Aston is close to 670 hp, not 700+.

Aston Martin DBR1-2 is powerful in any circuit, the Audi R18 Quatro 2014 is balanced in all circuits, the Toyota TS040 Hybrid is powerful and balanced. it depends on the settings that you put, I had trouble the first few days I tried this fabulous car until I found the perfect balance of speed and grip.

Stop teasing with the official liveries! I was looking forward to the Gulf livery in particular. While there are several official liveries the DBR1-2 will always be 'The Aston LMP1 with the Gulf livery' to me. No offence to the AMR-One.

The car is amazing in PCars but I was p**s*d off that licencing screwed us again.

Is there a Gulf livery for the Vantage GTE present in the files?

are all official liveries of the Vantage GTE and DBR1-2, why not enabled for consoles? I DO NOT KNOW. The PC can extract files and use them, I think the PC version benefits from things like this.

Apparently the licencing agreement doesn't permit the use of liveries still being used by Aston Martin Racing or some such rubbish. Doesn't really explain why we don't get the older official liveries however. The in-game GTE liveries are quite good anyway it's just the DBR1-2 ones which aren't great. Prism Engineering #44 is my only man there.

Official liveries have to be licensed separately from the racing teams themselves.
And sometimes even the racing series itself has to permit it.

I knew about the series sometimes having to give permission for use of it's IP but liveries themselves need to be separately licenced anyway? I never knew that.

Learn something knew everyday. Thanks for clearing that up Bealdor.

Do you guys know when the Toyota TS040 Hybrid comes out? I'm really looking forward to see it soon in the game to drive.
It should arrive on Tuesday 27 October. That is the final PlayStation Store update in October. Hopefully it launches then for PS4 even if Microsoft still hasn't released v5.00 for XboxOne.

It must be epic on a wheel, then, as on the control pad, it's still not quite right and nowhere near as dialled in as FM6.
Well most "Sims" are epic on a wheel. Been using a wheel since 2003,tried DriveClub with controller, bought T300 next day.
Save, your pennies and do yourself a favour, buy a wheel. Don't cheap out and low ball it either.

Forza, like GT, has always been set up well for controller users. The devs have to assist the controller quite heavily to make it feel smooth and nice to play on controller, which SMS refused to do. They gave a bunch of controller options to tweak instead, and while you can (eventually) find a good compromise in those options, it never feels as easy as GT and Forza do with a controller. My first go with a wheel blew me away with Pcars, and my short time playing with the controller is now just a bad memory.

That doesn't mean the Forza physics model is bad. I far prefer the level of control I get there, where it better replicates my ability as a competent driver than PCars, where a wheel spins up and slides right off the track without even being able to modulate it.

It's not the physics, but the control medium, and on a pad, Forza puts you in far better command of its physics engine.

I came in here initially to pass comment on the Old and New pack. I barely play PCars, but I just love that 320si. Some of the liveries are stunning, too.

Interestingly, the way the controller feels in Project Cars is better for me than Forza Motorsport 6. I feel like I have more control and can push a lot harder before things go wrong in Project CARS than in FM6. In FM6 I feel like I have to tip toe my way around the cars, even the race cars.

Are you using Forza's sim steering? IMO, it's not at all calibrated to the XBO's analogue stick and feels dreadful. Since I've switched back to normal steering, everything feels so much more in control. When you do go beyond the limit, you do have some hope of getting it back and the best bit, normal steering doesn't dumb anything else down. The cars are still nuanced and exploitable.

I'm using normal steering. The cars almost feel like I'm driving on casters. This is a bigger issue with race cars than road cars.

Like I have said,as well as others,if you want a true Sim experiance. Buy a wheel. Sim and controller just don't equate in my world. I think PCars was designed for wheel use. Cause it ain't a Sim if your using sticks.

I didn't mention the physics, I was talking specifically about how the controller in Forza and GT games is heavily assisted to make it more playable.

IIRC sim steering in Forza removes most of the controller assists, that's all it does. It's not calibrated differently, you just have to be very accurate with the stick to steer, like in Pcars. I remember someone from SMS saying they weren't interesting in "fudging" the inputs like T10 and PD, and preferred to give control of the different controller settings to the player instead. Sim steering in Forza would be similar in function to Pcars, as the stick movement isn't so heavily filtered and assisted.

Why are we discussing this in a DLC thread?

Good point.

Back on topic, is there anybody else that feels a little underwhelmed by this month's upcoming pack? I'm interested in the TS040, but the others I could really take or leave.
