Managed to get around to installing Steam version yesterday. Tried the BMW M3 GT around Monterey. Amazing how much difference a custom setup can do for lap time. Managed to get number 1 time after some tweaking so good to see I can compete against the top drivers in the game although I did use ABS due to not being able to get a feeling of when I'm locking up without it.

Rewards a more realistic approach of driving compared to GT6 in similar kind of car, the way the tyre model works seems to have progressed quite well since I last tried. Needs a few tweaks though regarding car behaviour and tyres with this particular car but getting good feedback from the likes of Nicolas Hamilton, I'm sure it will get better in a few more builds time. Looking promising 👍.

Edit: I see the other drivers are improving, I think I can improve by about 3 tenths so might be tempted to try it again and see if I get close to my maximum although it is quite tricky in certain sections to nail.

This still amazes me in this day and age. Having had 500 Kbit/s in 1998 (when others had 56k dialup or 128k ISDN) which raised up till 150 Mbit/s this August 2013.

I guess I am just lucky that I don't have to think twice about downloading even 4K pictures or things the size of a full blu-ray.

That's the best handling car in the game right now IMO.

It has a few handling issues on corner exits when laterally loaded though and probably has a bit too much traction when car is straightened and coming out of low speed corners.

Managed to improve by about 3 tenths and think now I can maybe shave about two more tenths off.

You should visit some undeveloped countries sometimes, you'd be amazed at a bunch of other stuff. :P

No need, I watch the discovery channel and national geographic channel for that stuff. :P

So far the countries I have been to are... Netherlands (duh!), Belgium, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, France, Germany (including the old DDR), Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungaria, Slovania, Croatia (also during Jugoslavia times) and the United States of America.

So not that bad in my opinion. The east European countries weren't particularly in good shape when I visited them. Then again, that was before the internet became widespread.
But I did see enough stuff, but there are of course places in the world that are worse off even.

Anyway... going off topic here. lol

On Topic:

So who's looking forward to that 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 DTM which is now a WIP? :sly:

BWM M1 Pro car was much better than Merc in Shift 2 so expect nothing different there.

R8Ted your pictures look real, don't get me wrong T-12 and Chromatic9 I love the pictures they post, but man the ones you posted this time were too good.

The physics are completely different from Shift, how many more times does this have to be said? The cars have also been made from scratch, EA owns all the old models from Shift.

First, the Merc in Shift 2 was the road going version, not the DTM version. Second, the M1 Procar and the 190 E DTM aren't even remotely comparable. The Procar is from 1979/1980, the 190 DTM was used about a decade later. The Procar also has about 90 HP more than the 190 DTM - so, yeah, I don't really expect them to be evenly matched. Which they shouldn't be, given that they weren't build to compete against each other.

If anything, you'd have to compare the E30 M3 DTM and the 190 DTM; but neither of these were in Shift 2.

Thanks guys , RUF livery was done by kmax1, and about the pic's looking good, i wouldn't be able to judge that! I always think that everyone else's pic's look better than mine!

On this latest set of photos i just used different SWFX settings, but now i'll use them more often, thanks to your input LMSCorvetteGT2 👍

Once again I've kinda lost track, but does that Mercedes SLS GT3 have a template yet?

I wasn't writing about game physics, you are right there sir it is different. What i wrote is about comparing two cars.

M1 pro car was way much faster on Nordschleife in Shift than Merc, and oh yes.

Both cars BMW M3 E30 sport evolution Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5 Evolution 2 are in Shift 2

So in my way of thinking M1 pro car presented on pictures will be still much better than presented on pictures Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5 Evolution 2

Thing is, why are you comparing those cars when they aren't even in the same category?

Which would likely be accurate in real life. The M1 is only slightly heavier, but considerably more powerful.

In Shift 2, you had the road going versions. You posted videos of the respective Werks-modified cars. These cars are fictional, and, as such, no indication as to how the 190 E DTM and the E30 M3 DTM will perform.

I'm a full member, I guess it makes me a +. How can you tell the version you have? Thank you.

Have you opted in to the relevant beta option in the game's properties window inside Steam? If not, right click the game in your Steam library, go to properties, then click the beta tab and then there's the drop down menu with the membership levels in there. Choose the right one then click ok and the latest build will start downloading.

Remember Steam background downloads builds on startup. It doesn't tell you it is downloading them.

Check the build number in the top left corner when on the main menu of p CARS.

It caught me out a few times as well.

I'll do as you suggest. Cheers!
