As far as I can remember, I think it was ruled out. It was deemed unnecessary and not a good ROI. However, the devs are creating a bullshot mode (works out something like 12X Downsampling), but it's unplayable, so don't think that any footage you see uses it.

It was early 2011, I saw forza 4 and thought wow! The graphics look real! They can't ever make this look better!

2013 rolls by, I see fm5 and say wow! They made it look even better! This has got to be the peak of automotive graphics!

2014. Nah. Mind blown by every single screenshot or video from pcars.

I'm on this kind of thinking since GT1, Medal of Honor and Metal Gear Solid.

I'm not sure about the console versions (NDAs flying about, and so on), but I know the consoles have been using dedicated servers, alothugh P2P will be possible. I guess it's down to whatever the devs can organise with the console manufacturers. I know that both MS and Sony allow devs and games to use dedicated servers, so we'll just have to wait and see.
I know Microsoft offer free dedicated servers

That's what I thought, but to date there hasn't been many games taking advantage of it; most games have stuck resolutely to P2P. I have asked on the WMD forums, so hopefully I'll get an answer I can share with you guys.

If you take a look at the Gran Turismo 5 and 6 photomode forums here... I have to disagree that it will be bad ROI. I am a massive fan of the photomode since GT4, so if pCars 2 would have such a mode I would probably never need to go back to Gran Turismo ;)

God November cannot come soon enough, i shall be dusting down my DFGT wheel and hopefully hooking it up to my Ps4.
I just want to do some TT around Macau, one of my favourite circuits.

I thought along the same lines. I haven't followed that discussion at wmd that much, but photomode in GT and Forza were/are surely quite popular and well received. Would be weird to think if theres no handy way to take pictures. (talking especially about consoles)

OK, let me rephrase that. There will be an ability to take pictures on the replays, move the camera about, etc. But there will be no specific photomode because people will buy the game being more interested in for the racing than poncing about in the cars (this is no offence to the guys who like their photos, I used to take them myself), and the ROI would not make it worthwhile when there are a million other things to spend more time on. I might be wrong and they will implement one, but at the moment they haven't even implemented a livery designer.

Ahh... well at least there's something to get screengrabs with. That will more than do for this games' first outing!

Afraid to say Macau isn't going to be in the base game. They haven't started it yet, that we know of, but when they do it will likely be added as DLC.

Ah shame that, but in all honestly i think i can wait for that track, there are plenty of other brilliant tracks that will be available from the start.

It's designed by the developers behind the gazillion-selling Need for Speed franchise, and includes the ability to tune your cars and even run pitstops.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but didn't they said that the only thing you could costumize in your car was your setup?

You can "tune" your car but you can't "upgrade" your car with aftermarket parts. When I tune my radio, I am not swapping antenna's either as that would mean I upgrade its range.
So you can change the settings of springs, dampers, wheel alignment, anti-roll bars, diffs, brakes, wastegates, restrictors. You just can't replace them with other parts so you get different setting ranges so to speak.

"But he is an artist!".
A clown is an artist too, but nobody takes him seriously either. Just saying that if he doesn't take the competition seriously than why would the competition have to take him seriously?
In other words the golden rule applies... "Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you".

Also about the Skyline... rF2 has it, so let's hope pCARS will get a license for those who fancy the car. It's not contractually locked like Porsche is to EA.

I doubt it. He's on record saying he didn't really pay attention to what Forza was doing. Which is a terrible business practice IMO, no matter how good or bad your competition you always have to keep a close eye on them. There is always something you can learn.
We all know that what one says to the media and what one actually does are often two different things. Perhaps he has that kind of discipline but I have a feeling even if it were true up until now, it may have changed dramatically since December 6th:lol:

I'm sure he would be well aware of what is involved with rival racing games, it's a fierce market. Certainly the execs from Sony would be well apprised of the competition.

Whether or not this transfers in to adding comparable features that the fans actually want or the game having more useless features added to it as a result of them trying to be too clever for their own good and not just covering the basics first is the question.

Honestly, that's it for me. PC simulations offer the realism that Gran Turismo can't offer - the business model is for sure going towards the casual gaming market, albeit with increased realism, as that is what the research has shown. Most console driving sim players probably don't care about real features like tire wear leaving marbles on the track, race weekends, simulated pit functions and extensive car setups.

I won't be bothering with consoles any more, and certainly won't be bothering with Gran Turismo.
