pCARS top tip: If you re using AMD machinery, get the latest Catalyst 12.11 beta drivers. They are the first ones with some pCARS optimization in the release notes and finally some support for some cards, like my HD7970M.

Gained me a whopping 30 fps in DX11! (now 60-80 in time trial with high settings)

Its taking them a while to finish that Z4, can't wait for some awesome liveries.

Looks great but I really wish they would fix or remove those shiny tyre marks in the corners, they're clearly not realistic in the slightest. It's one of the few major niggles I have with this game.

That can be turned off in the Developer menu (F1)

Yeah, I'm dying to see Z4 liveries.

This. I'm just like waiting to unleash a crapload of stuff, including a hilarious paint scheme I have in mind to sorta say hi to their former overlords ;)

Sounds good, Felix.

Nvidia also just released their 310.33 Beta driver.
I have not checked it out yet though. So can't tell you guys about the performance.

At least you guys can play it at the moment.

The launcher has just failed me again. I downloaded as per normal but as it went to update it just stopped and froze my PC when it reached 34%.

Now I get the Exe and Data version Mis-Match message (again).

*sigh*

Oh well of to the WMD forums when I get some spare time (which I don't have) to search for an answer.
Hopefully I don't have to start from scratch like last time. :ouch:

Cheers Shaun.

Next time, when you have it working...

Make a copy of the following as backup, just so you can easily revert back to a working state:
- My Documents/CARS
- Program Files (x86)/WMD

Good luck on the search, but I think it will be a fresh start again. So make a backup next time just for security. lol

Ok mini crisis averted.

After sulking for a little while I remebered after my last mishap, (as you said Logi) that I had backed up everything.

My fix was this.

Copied all C/AppData/pCars/Downloads to another drive. (I think this was the path, on my phone now so I'm not 100% sure)
Uninstalled pCars.
Deleted all remaining files.
Installed build 249.
Downloaded and installed patcher but didn't let it run.
Copied all known good downloads back into relevant folder.
Ran patcher and it downloaded the last couple of updates and then installed all updates from build 249.

Yay, happy days it's all up to date and running. I didn't even need to search WMD forums for the answer.

Only two small issues to sort out now.

1. Install catalyst 12.11 to see what gains I may get from my two 7850's. Looking forward to this.
2. Source and install a new microswitch for the upshift on my G25. Currently I have to limit myself to vehicles with six gears and use the H Shifter.

Cheers Shaun.

Thanks for that, definitely going to give it a try and see if it helps my now aging HD4850.

Glad to see my hint led you to a fix. ;)

I have no clue as to what switches were installed in the G25. I opened mine up once since I had to fix the sensor on the of ffb motor (it snapped at its 3 plastic solder joints, thus had to glue it), but never bothered to properly look at those switches. So I am no help here I am afraid.
It might be even better to replace both sides, cause the other side might have gone soft too because of heavy use.

Does anyone has experience with connecting a Fanatec CSR to PCars? It works fine on iRacing but doesn't seem to work on PCars. Steering is fine but he won't find the pedals. I can calibrate the wheel but not the pedals. It automatically detects what I'm using though...

Let me know if that works because I had to download drivers for a HD 4870 X2 a few days ago, and according to AMD's website 12.6 is the latest for the 4000 series cards.

I would let you know but upon trying to install any driver updates I've realised mine won't update at all, it skips out during the install progress, I get a 'kdbsync has stopped working' Windows error message and my drivers aren't updated, still 12.3. It's a good job this was mentioned because I hadn't even noticed my drivers weren't actually being updated, last update was March 2012 according to CCC but I know I've attempted it after that.

Although If I go to CCC and Information > Software Updates > Check For updates the recommended update is 12.10 and it downloads/attempts to update it, just doesn't work at all, same problem as above.

So I need to sort that general problem before I actually try to update to the beta drivers.

Are your pedals plugged in USB? If so you need to assign them in Edit before calibrating.

Ok, I'll try it when I get home to see what happens.

I'm too lazy to search the forums yet again, so I'll post here to see if anyone's heard of this.

But basically, are there any plans or suggestions to include intake restrictions as a setup option?

This would essentially be like restrictor plates in real life to balance our cars in racing series. Or the power limiter in GT5. That's all we would really need as league organizers to balance cars with each other and do lots more than just spec racing.

I certainly hope there is!

Some had suggested restrictors but didn't find dev answers yet (need to go back to work now). Anyway, I left this at the forums:

Might be suggested before but I see it's important enough to even mention many times:

1. Car settings info screen. A screen that makes it possible for anyone to check anyones car settings / setup. Possibility to enable / disable this feature.
2. A possibility to preset & force different setups for different cars on a lounge / privateroom / session
3. Related to 2. - ballast weight (with relative position) & air intake restriction

If it has to be 1. OR 2. I'd go with number 2. Preferably both.

I had already pulled it apart and have the part number on the switch.
Ordered them (two just to be safe) today at work, once I receive them it will only be a 5 min job to replace the two.

Thanks for jogging my memory about my backups. Sure did save the whole download process again. 👍

Cheers Shaun.

You're right, now I've completely deinstalled my drivers to get rid of the errors and reinstall up to 12.6 CCC now says there are no further updates. I don't think I'm going to bother trying to install the beta drivers now, it may mess things up.
