I've been playing on a GT3 Server, and oh man, Im ending up in the POS 2-3. But my god turn 1 is madness. Saw 5 cars getting taken out on T1 on Le Man 24Hour

So, this past Saturday my US Copy (I also purchased the UK Limited Edition for the metal box and book, hasn’t arrived yet) of PCARS finally arrived along with my pre-ordered T3PA-Pro Pedals (These things are really heavy compared to the stock T300RS pedals).

So, lets see, we had 2 PS3’s and a PS4 so I thought it would be great, we could share the PS4 (My Son just got a new game and that idea went out the window)

Needless to say I went out Sunday and purchased another PS4, so now it’s 2 PS3’s and 2 PS4’s.

We all know the sadly familiar story, I had the G27, that’s not compatible with PS4/PCARS so, I purchased T300RS, I wanted the Leather wheel, so of course I purchased the "TM Leather 28 GT Wheel Add-On”.

When I think about it, I have actually invested a lot of money in PCARS:

Thrustmaster T300 RS Wheel $399.00
TM Leather 28 GT Wheel Add-On $149.00
Thrustmaster Wheel to Logitech Pedal Adapter - By Ricmotech (Used with G27 Pedals for a few days) $19.99
Thrustmaster T3PA-PRO $149.00
PCARS US $59.00
PCARS UK Limited Edition $103.02 USD
PS4 $399.00

So Now, I mount my T3PA-PRO, the T300 and 28 GT Wheel were already in place and ready to go, Should be in for some real fun right……Not!!

1). So I put the wheel in PS4 mode, I switch it to inverted GT Style (The actually feel really good, more like what I’m used to driving), slap the PCARS disc in and when it starts up it doesn’t see the Wheel, of course the wheel did the normal initialization when the PS4 powered on. I was completed puzzled, rebooted the PS4 after swapping the wheel and DS4 inputs, nothing, eventually I pressed the PS button and was able to select the wheel, Wow, that was frustrating, never had to do that on the PS3 with GT5/6 or any other game for that matter.

2). I then went on to calibrate the wheel and made the mistake of going into the button assignment screen, WTF, again Wow, after attempting to assign some familiar buttons, I tried to exit the menu and received the following message: "Not all required controls are assigned”, It didn’t indicate what buttons were required and I kept trying to set more and more, this was extremely frustrating, I wasted a half hour stuck attempting to get out, I finally went internet and someone had posted a work around to get out of this mess, horrible!!!

3). I was determined to not let this put a damper on my fun with PCARS so I went to do a Free Practice run on the California Highway (Cant lose with that right???). When the run started, I completed lost all sound to my Dolby Digital 5.1 Roccat Kave Surround Headphones. I went through the entire run with now sound, as soon as the event was over, the sound returned, again Wow!! The second run was fine, all sound was normal, not sure what the heck that was.

4). Speaking of sound, as stated, I use Surround Sound Headphones and noticed that there were voices coming from the speaker in the DS4, I could just barely here it due to having on sealed headphones. Is there a setting to have everything come through the surround source???? I went through the options and couldn’t find anything.

5). When watching the replays of the Free Practice run, the replays were very jittery, it looks horrible, am I the only one with this issue??

6). And yes, I noticed the Blurry/Ghosting issues and no, I didn’t have to look for it, it is just there, needs to be corrected, this is Next Gen.

7). I couldn’t find a way to adjust Field of View while in the cockpit, can this be done??

When I started the game, there were the 3 modes (Amateur, Novice and Pro), I started with Novice as there has been some advice from VVV to start off with some assist before going nuts and overall it felt decent, It should be fun when I start turning off more assist and having fun racing.

There are lots of things that need to be fixed, but since so many have said this is the best console racing simulator ever, I will reserve judgement until I can get more time in.

Sorry about the long post.

The replays are very jittery for me on PS4, along with other issues with them as well. When I mentioned this early on after release a WMD member on this site told me they worked very well before release but a fix to the cockpit camera "broke" the replays. He felt that SMS would probably fix it and that they looked great before they were broken. I hope he is right because I love my replays and for me they are a showcase for any racing game when I want to show it off to visitors.

Replays on PC online are really jittery lol

Just been in the worst lobby thus far @ snetterton.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, a car landed on my Ginetta at the 1st corner and afterward I had absolutely no feedback through the wheel at all, and it pulled severely to the left under braking.

What type of damage is that portraying?

The lost of FFB in a hard crash is a known issue. It is a bug, not a feature.

You are having same teething problems as I had..All gets sorted and enjoyable after a week or two 👍

1. I agree I had that with my wheel you have to log out of ps4 with controller then press PS with wheel. I am sure as you say other games just recognise a wheel is plugged in.

2. Yes-re-assigning is being worked on I believe so you don't have to fill the whole field just one change. (pain at the moment)

3.?one off never had that

4.Come out of PCars go into main PS4 settings go to >devices>controllers-turn sound to 0 (off) all sound will come through to headphones (when wheel is in place)

5.Yes on all formats-they are aware I am sure a patch will come to smooth out replays soon

6. Depends on Tv settings -quite a few on ps4 have very clear running and no ghosting (mine is very crystal clear after manually adjusting all the motion/game modes in tv settings) Varies from TV to TV.

7. Yes field of view can be changed in settings (under movement) but can not be done in race yet, all settings have to be changed by quitting and then going back in which is a big pain for a small adjustment on the wheel! (not sure who came up with that idea-but surely they must realise you want to tweak settings while driving) not just PCars but alot of games don't seem to put this in as standard and I am sure a patch will follow.

Enjoy it is a great game with a bit of homework put in and it is very immersive and realistic once further into the game with the gt3 cars, and with future patches, tracks and cars I can see this improving greatly. The core (raw) game is there shining through and is a pleasure to have a sim on ps4 at long last...👍

God the Huarya feels bloody scary when driving around Monza. Coming down the main straight is genuinely riveting and it's simply addictive. I thought my brother was stupid when he said that a game show believed there was a great sense of speed. Turns out it's true.

So glad that more people are discovering the wonder that is Oulton park because of pCars.

Now I just want SMS to add in Thruxton (because its the UKs fastest circuit) and Castle Combe (because its my local circuit) and I will be almost happy with the UK tracks.

Actually no I won't, I want them all, every circuit in the world please.

Same here, less than half hour drive from me and it's such a great, fast and fun track to race on rFactor/TOCA. Would love an HD version of it.

I'm in Swindon, so not much different for me in travel time (and I can get to Thruxton in 40 mins and Silverstone in under an hour - very handy).

Oulton Park International is now my favourite most raced and practiced track. It has everything narrow tight turns, cambers, inclines, fast straights, chicane and a wide finishing apex corner to go flat out on to pole..I also look forward to thruxton, and castle combe if they ever get put on pcars and love the btcc.

Can't recall from ToCA 2, but its the fastest circuit in the UK with a fast chicane at the end, which last weekend was once again a source of fun in its round of the BTCC.

Im going to Croft to watch my first TOCA races in June...cant wait! :)

I remember the track from TOCA 1 hehe.

Yeah its always been one of my fave ever tracks for those reasons you said...so much more interesting than Silverstone! I hope they put Knockhill in aswell...used to love that track for racing in TOCA.

torque99,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read through and give very informative and helpful answers, that is exactly what I was hoping for. It's good to know that others who are enjoying the game went through the same issues to get to a good place, I was feeling like the "odd man out".

Again, Thanks your input should get me to more enjoyment!!

Question. How do i turn the audio on to here the pit crew speaking to me? Everytime I race the words come up at the bottom but no sound would like to here the pit crews voice.

Go into audio options. I suspect your engine and sfx are drowning out the pit crew audio. It's very low as default

Here's my thought of Project Cars after playing it for 8Hours Straight. I quite enjoy PCars. And im glad that i got it. Its a ton of fun :D

I have a G27, And i haven't touched the settings and it feels fine, its not as good as Assetto Corsa. Which is okay since its directed toward the Simcade, and not "Sim Racing" Personally i think the FFB is better then RRE. Project Cars is around RRE personally. Project Cars isnt anything new, nothing fascinating. However it does do Weather really well, better then any game on the market currently. The Online is great as soon as you find a good lobby, i found a great lobby, and met a new friend while racing GT3. There will always be trolls in games, people who race dirty, and try to take you out... It is what it is. Dont hate a game because the community includes those kind of people... Assetto Corsa, Iracing, etc all have those people. The online stability is quite really good, i didnt encounter any lag spikes, or where vehicles would lag slap you like in GT. The AI have there own minds, but they are better then GT's AI, but.... You really dont know what to expect, next thing you know your rammed or side swiped... I mean its not as bad Assetto Corsa previous 1.0 patch. Hope it gets improved.

btw... Racing on Softs, and it downpours suddenly is a horrible idea...
