here's a question: in career mode, is there anyway to see which track layout is being used in an event, without actually entering the event? All I see is the venue, but not the layout, i.e. "Silverstone" but not "Silverstone National," or, "Silverstone GP."
(sorry if this has been asked/answered before.)

Anyone else find it baffling that all the sales of this game are on PS4 (ok the vast majority) yet were stuck with outdated P2P racing while PC players were it has sold the least have dedicated servers. Even the Xbone has sold more than PC and that runs on P2P rather than putting it on Azure or using their own dedicated servers.

Not really, as it's the same solution adopted by GT.

I'm guessing other console games have their own servers if you're asking the question. How would PCars go about using dedicated servers and who would pay for them?

GT uses p2p exactly...outdated practice. Forza has 24 online and Pcars on PC has 36 online.

Yes other games have their own servers and MS rent out Azure. It would be the exact same as it is on PC and with most of the money SMS have received has been from PS4 owners surely it can only be right that we get the same service as the PC guys.

I was wondering if all game developers have the choice to run their own servers for PS4 or if there are restrictions imposed by Sony.

I read somewhere that Sony would only allow first party titles to run dedicated servers but I don't know if that still stands as it was around the release of the PS4.

Certainly agree with your point about P2P being a poor solution for multiplayer on racing games but wouldn't want to pay extra for dedicated servers with the current state of lobby management and pit stops in PCars.

I would be more than willing to pay for dedicated servers on just about every game I play. Lag is the worst thing in the world for online gaming.
I hear what you are saying but the way i look at it is i already am "paying for it " it called PS Plus. If they just took all this new money from PS Plus and put it into their servers half of are problems would be gone.

If it's 3rd party games it's up to the devs to host dedicated servers not Sony, SMS has made an insane amount of money from the PS4 version yet it's on PC were it's sold the least that get the best service by far that troubles me.

Ok I have to ask this again, but how do you guys brake without locking the tyres, and before someone throws the it's realism card, I've driven the Palmer LMP in real life and didn't lock at all, my number one gripe with the game. Any help?

I turn brake pressure down in the car setup menu.

I tend to turn it up, as well as in the main wheel config page, and they still don't lock up. :boggled:

@sems4arsenal I've not driven the Palmer but it's probably similar to the Radicals and I never get lock ups there. Try braking earlier? Feather the brakes? Might just come down to tuning. And do you use a wheel or pad? Do other cars lock up for you or is it just the Palmer?

Almost every car aside from the GT3s. In real life the best thing to do was brake hard then bleed it off but here i have to feather it, I never tune but is there a setup solution than would love to know it. Running a T300 with the stock pedals. Thanks in advance btw

Got this bad boy today!

The paddles look too far away from the edge of the rim. I think you need big hands/long fingers to reach them with comfort...
TM really shouldn't have used existing paddles for this rim imo...

You know, that was my fear also, but really the paddles feel great. I wasn't stretching for them at all, seemed fine. Haven't raced with it yet but I don't have a concern right now.

And my hands aren't what I would call big.

Yes, I purchased one also and they are really, really nice, it is the best Thrustmaster has put out to date IMHO.

I agree, they should have made a longer paddle stem to bring them closer to the edge of the new larger rim, but I also agree you get used to it in a hurry and never give any thought once you begin using it.

Doing paddle tests has made me realise that with the stock rim I would slightly move my fingers out whenever I shifted but on the 599 they can be straight and dare I say it, more comfortable.

Um, haven't got that far yet although it does feel nice and soft against my nose... :P

Quick review:

Seriously nice rim, small vibrations can be felt more easily now, the extra size is great, it's light and the material is excellent too. I'll have to get used to the new button placements as they're a bit odd but the one thing I dislike is the D-pad. It's horrible. Too low-set, hardly any click or movement, and the D-buttons are way to thin and sharp, leading to discomfort. An irony seeing as the actual rim is really really comfortable. Also no problems with the paddle placement. They have a really nice click and are completely fine for me.

The strange thing is that I bought it from a random seller on eBay, said posts from UK, but when it turned up it had come directly from Guillemot (Thrustmaster) in France themselves. Very odd as I got it for less than Thrustmaster sell it on their website. I'm confused. :dunce:

You're confused? I wanted to be buying the integral bundle with the TH8A pedals by now!!!!! Supposed RRP of £399.99.

If I buy the T300 servo and else separate its £469.99......and that was what was given to me, as a reply from TM on their FB page as a solution.

But they already have advertised on their sites that this thing should have come out in October.

Apologies OT.
