Wait for a thorough review, I'm not going to pre-order this game (I have almost stopped pre-order all together.) and will wait for the review.

You're right, but you know they're gonna try and get us with an exclusive car or early access. Another factor for me not to pre-order it on my XSX is if the PS5 Pro is the only console with a solid framerate.

Was t that part of GTR or GTR2? I mean it was a pretty good game but I always liked GT Legends more. I really hope there’s some Can Am, Trans Am, Group 5 and maybe some classic stuff like group 2, thinking lotus cortina/capri/escort.
Both. GTR 1 iirc, was the 2003 FIA GT season & GTR 2 was both 2003 & 2004.

I think this is all we know of the car list so far, but it seems Ian is intent on bringing back the cars of GTR1/2's era as well as before & after.

I think I just long for some vintage stuff. I know it’s all vintage now, I just really miss GT Legends lol

I won't be posting much and will allow the media team to do their thing so unfortunately can't steal their thunder with details but seeing as I've said hello. We're running a brand new physics engine we started from scratch more than 2 years ago which is plugged into the Giants engine. Early running builds are giving me a lot of good feels.

Really appreciate you coming by to say hello. I also appreciate you aren't going to spill any beans here, but just want to let you know that without PSVR2 support, some of us may as well unsubscribe to this thread. I really hope you're working on or strongly considering it.
 
But we are watching, and hoping for psvr2 support for a great sim, with realistic ffb. I know, you know, that there is only a single racing game since psvr2’s release.

..market doesn’t get any more ripe..!
 
@Ian Bell appreciate the drop in. That 800 posts thing? Pretty sure that's a result of a thread merge by @Famine . So probably not nearly as impressive as you might presently think.
Yes, we tend to embed news stories on developing topics into the threads where the topic is already being discussed.

it's about 35-40 posts on the new news. That's a couple of pages' worth, but then the thread's been running since "GTR Revival" in September 2022, so another 5% of the thread added in 24hr is brisk enough.
 
I played FS with friends a few times and the poor physics always caught my attention.

10 ton tractors would seemingly have no weight, and launch in the air when you drove over a twig.
Tires are rock hard, and suspension of any kind is non excistent.

I'm VERY skeptical to say the least.
I never expected this engine to be capable of simulating anything at all.

From what I understand, it's S4's new physics engine running underneath the GIANTS engine for visuals.

I am lightly confused though as I recall they ditched UE5 for reasons of wanting to support VR, but I'm not aware of GIANTS engine having any VR support either.
 
This could work out quite well for Giants. If there's some crossover between the companies, FS could end up with a greater degree of physics simulation to the vehicles plus maybe the chance of VR.

And PMR could end up with the best looking cows in SIM racing. 🙂

Joking aside. If they can get graphics like this running smoothly into PMR it'll look pretty impressive.

This could be a good thing though. Maybe they are building the VR support specifically for this game, with possible future VR support for FS. One thing I'll give Ian (or his team) credit for, is that he knows how to make a game look good in VR. PC2 still holds it's own against current SIMS. ACC I believed uses the UE4 engine and it's by far the worst VR experience. I can't imagine UE5 being any better / optimized). I couldn't find the article but a developer from Kunos was explaining how the VR frames are rendered in ACC vs the original, and it's far more taxing on PC hardware.
 
UE is the worst game engine for VR, because it can only handle deferred rendering
Which is a death sentence for any game that wants to include VR support
That’s why EA Sports WRC only recently introduced VR, and only as a beta
 
Looking real nice compared to Farming Sim 25 previews, I guess maybe this will be like running a bunch of filters on top of an original game, like people do with AC for photo-realism?

Hope they can upgrade the GFX over in the main game too to be like this, and that we get their fire rescue mods here to cut people free after a crash. My 5yr old son loves puting out fires with it, but would prefer police, although he asks me why no racing games I play have a pace car when he was asking if a Hot Wheels car we have was police, so I had to explain... He's went back to the game pad from my wheel for tractors though, so if some more realistic wheel handling options can be ported back there that'd be great!

That makes allot more sense, still a strange engine to choose but they must've had a good reason.
 
It was already stated that they used the engine for the architecture and file structure. It was most likely easy for them to build on.
 
One thing that stood out about the existing FS22 game engine was that AMD listed it as one of the early adopters of FSR 2 I think it was at the time on their website. I was trying to find out if my Xbox used any of the framerate tech stuff and it came up - might be useful as it works on all gfx cards/consoles as far as I'm aware to keep speeds of those up, which may be handy for those with VR too.

First gameplay from the new FS25 engine looks a bit better than I was expecting from the trailer/screens;



Maybe we'll see the grass moving as we go off track, or even the stones deforming under us. Fingers crossed for twisters near the corkscrew too.
 
Reading through THIS ARTICLE about Lap of Legends on the new website, makes me optimistic about the new AI they are developing. Sounds interesting that they can teach and adapt it.
Plus they have a laser scanned Silverstone.

Yes it's interesting to read about how they managed to get the different F1 cars from the various eras competitive with each other.
 
I was asking this in the Assetto Corsa thread, would any developer have the exclusive licence to WTCC? It would be incredible if this game featured all the cars from way back then, but I'd also like to see a grid of WTCC cars in other games as well.
