I said wow?

The reason I'm impressed is really only 2 things.

The lighting, is definitely wow.

And notice the VERY soft DOF on his gun/hand? That is freaking so beautiful, it's just right, not over done, not under done, just freaking right. It looks great.

Hmm... it looks interesting. The shadows aren't all that great as well as the wall textures, but I need more than a dark corner shot to judge.

Everything else seems to look good, but like I said I need more shots and a video.

I agree, It does baffle me why they choose poor shots to reveal to the world.

What's so special about the lighting in that image, Jeremy? Nothing better than I've seen in a lot of modern games IMO.

I agree the shadows look horrid. I guess we'll have to wait for more images for me to decide properly. I'm not completely impressed.

Are you all looking at the same shot I am??? that shot sucks big time, I really hope thats not it, because if it is, im getting a 360 and halo (only joking... about the 360 thing anyway), but seriously that shot is poor, very poor IMO....

Wait a second, are all those posts above sarcasm? Im confused, you either think this poor looking shot is good or you think its really bad like me.

Eh, we're not joking, we think it looks lame. We're just not passing judgement right now because for all we know it might have 1,000,000 enemies on screen at 60fps.

Hey guys I'm most likely getting a PS3 by the end of this week, can you recommend a few games that I should get along with it?

G.T
The Nucleus trail is out on the Japanese PS Store.

I find it a little boring... and it doesn't look that good either. There are jaggies everywhere, and isn't very satisfying.

It isn't helped that the whole thing is in Japanese too, so I have no idea what I'm doing...
I downloaded the trailer for Nucleus off the European PSN Store and as expected it was in English. It also doesn't show any jaggies so this sounds like a different trailer.

I found the images to be a little on the soft side, but clearly that was done for artistic purposes, as the score for instance is very sharp. I suspect the idea was to give it an organic liquid look... much like what Pixar did with Finding Nemo and the under water scenes.

I actually like the premise of the game more so than the other similar style games like Blast Factor and Super Stardust. The idea of playing at an organic molecular level is pretty cool.

I’d love to have a game like this only one where you could travel all through the human body so that the backdrop would always be changing depending on where you are moving to. A game like that could add additional challenges like having to find ways of getting from one place to another the fastest as well as facing all sorts of biological enemies along the way. 👍

Buy:

Resistance
The Darkness
Rainbow Six
Ninja Gaiden
Oblivion
Super Stardust

Rent:

Motorstorm (barebones on content)
F1:CE (buy if you're an F1 fan, rent otherwise)

Off the top of my head. I'm sure someone else can list a few more games.

*sigh*

You guy's seem to forget easily what we are playing this generation in light of the E3 05 trailer. If you compare it to that, of course, you'll be let down. But let's look at some high profile games and *their* textures and lighting.

Seriously, look how soft the lighting is around the folds in the clothing and the rounded edges of his body. That's amazing, superior even to that of the bloom happy Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas.

And seriously, Duck, shame on you for following GAF, yet again, and talking about texture work, when it's very clear that the texture in question is RIGHT in the face of the player. What game have you EVER played where a texture didn't degrade in quality when you literally walk up to the wall? Because a) I want that super console with amazing power, and b_ I want that game.

Let's be realistic folks. This looks as good as gears of war, and still has room to prove if it's got more or less.

sorry JR, but if you have to look that hard to see how it looks good, then someone on the dev team is focusing on the wrong areas, it just doesn't look good to me and I haven't even seen the 05 trailer

If you think it looks any worse than anything else you've been playing on your 360's or PS3's, you're only lying to yourself.

BTW, I forgot to mention that there is supposed to be a ton of destruction on screen.

Whatever though, I'm not going to quell your high expectations, if you're not impressed, you're not impressed, but trust me, if this isn't impressive to you, you'll be let down a lot for the next 4 years. This easily matches gears of war...so I don't see how the double standard is coming into play here.

Like LaBounti said, it really depends a lot on what type of games you like, as so much of rating games is purely subjective.

For instance, while Duck considers MotorStorm a rental only, I find it has become the go-to game when the occasions is to just have fun on the PS3. What's more surprising is that I bought it for my nephews when they are over visiting, as it didn't look like anything I'd enjoy as I'm not normally a fan of arcade style racing games.

However, it has really grown on me, my wife, and our friends. We are constantly finding new paths and techniques using different vehicles, so the gameplay is as lengthy as you are willing to make it. Some friends and I even have come up with our own rules for races making it that much more fun.

And considering you probably joined this site because of Gran Turismo or some other console driving game, then F1:CE should definitely be at the top of your to own list! It's a great racing game, with highly customizable settings, physics, and damage options. It's an amazing game, but the demo is very poor, so just skip it as it is not reflective of the actual game.

Games where there is a distinct storyline that once you finish there isn't much point to play it again, those I would consider rentals.

This may not be complete, but to give you some ideas, here are some games for the PS3 (excluding all the downloadable PSN games) sorted by genre:

...Wow. You honestly think I just go around spewing out opinions from users of another forum?

I'm serious.

Does that mean land sea air is a GAF follower? Or how about LaBounti? Or G.T? Are they a bunch of fools spewing out others' opinions?

And if anyone here has a GAF-mentality, it's you. Because IIRC, you're the one who wanted everyone here to "Killzone-ify" their avatars because of the NeoGAF craze, and also bring up a comparison to GoW at any given moment. When no one here really cares.

Oh, and just to answer your question, I can zoom in or get close to, say, a brick or a wall in Rainbow Six: Vegas, and the textures aren't muddy or ugly, and that goes for many other part of that game. Same with Crackdown and Ridge Racer 7.

Let's be realistic folks. This looks as good as gears of war, and still has room to prove if it's got more or less.

So does Army of Two look as good as Killzone then?

And you derive all of this from one screenshot. One. No videos, no multiple screenshots, just one leaked photo. And you're comparing it to an already released game using a good amount of conjecture.

Just. Stop. Just wait for more media like everyone else before throwing out insults.

Reality check duck:

I'd provide more examples, but it would be a waste of my time to convince you. You have your opinion, and you're stuck on it.

That's multiplayer, and RSV is a game that's infamous for its ugly multiplayer.

But anyway. Bring on E3!

Has this been posted yet? The new MGS4 trailer will be downloadable on the PSN @720p and in 5.1. blog.us.playstation.com/

Hmm, haven't seen that before... me likey.

Does anyone have a link to a decent quality version of the trailer that's not from Gametrailers? Their version isn't downloading properly here. From the parts I have seen, it looks quite impressive.

And frankly, Jeremy, it was anyone's guess what the game was going to be like from that poor screenshot. No bowing from me.
