"Final Fantasy XII won't be hitting British shores until the end of the year, but already buzz for the series next instalment is beginning to emerge, which is supposedly going to be revealed at this year's E3.

American games mag EGM makes the claim, suggesting that the next entry in the Final Fantasy series is heading exclusively to the PlayStation 3. According to the mag, a brief teaser video will be rolled-out at E3 showing off Final Fantasy XIII in all its next-gen splendour, and presumably sending series loyalists into an excited frenzy.

Whether this rumour turns out to be true or not, we think the next Final Fantasy game appearing on Sony's next-gen console is a pretty safe bet. The series has traditionally be married to the PlayStation brand, with rival consoles left empty handed of any "true" Final Fantasy games.

Either way, E3 is just over a month away and we'll be there to report first-hand on any hot announcements in the world of Final Fantasy." Source: CVG

Does DoA4 have FMV? I'm pretty sure I've heard some developers complain about the lack of space on a regular 360 DVD disc. But I think Microsoft responded by saying that there was no need for FMV anymore so space can be saved by ditching it.
Still, in the long run it may not help. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion uses a dual-layered DVD9 and although it's a huge game it's actually fairly repetetive in textures and so on (speech certainly).
Using Blu-Ray for the PS3 will give developers all the room they need for their games. None of them will complain about having 25GB's (or more) of space to fill!

DOA4 uses 720p video i read, thats why space is so cramped. Microsoft cant tell people what to do with their games to say they dont need FMV, they must be very gutsy to say that to a japanese developer, they use FMV to no end and they are telling them not too?

Oblivion dose not use dual layers, the whole game fits in a 4.6GB single layer. Half the disc was used for spoken dialogue audio alone so now we are looking at 2.3GB for the actual game with music and sound effects.

I really doubt that I'll be interested in a 360 till Christmas. Maybe not even then, but Forza 2 or some other A-ticket racer would change my mind in a hurry. Right now, that's the only thing I'd want a 360 for as I'm unaware of any A-list title that has me hankering for the Next Box. I'm still waiting with baited breath for that PS3. My money is already set aside.
Yeah i was thinking the same, of getting a 360 just for Forza2. But as much as Forza has let me down, i think GT5 will look better. This is only an idea, cause i like the concept behind GT4 more then Forza. I feel more at home with GT4.

360 now is like disappear from the stores, with a few games, same old demos (PGR3, Kameo, COD2..) and the consoles themselves are no where to see, whenever ask, get the same answer: "Uh...We don't have it right now...":guilty: And it's been 5 months since 360 released,:dopey: Luckily I am not that crazy about the 360:tup:
Well, I wouldn't say the consoles are disappearing from displays as they are needed for that "Extra Download" crap.

But yes, the demos are old, and many X360s are still not in stock.

Wasn't the 360 saposed to be shipping MORE in this week? I swear i read that some where. Whatever, it looks like Microsoft can put the talk up, but not do what needs to be done. I hope Sony doesn't do this. I don't think they will though, cause both PS2, and PSP, there where plenty to go around when they came out. I hope it's going to be the same thing for PS3.

That wasn't the case for the PS2 at all. Some PS2s fetched over $1,000 on eBay, a lot of them went for around $800. Even when I bought my PSTwo(slim PS2) last February(2005), many stores were still suffering from the Christmas shortage.

Christmas shortage is different from just not having enough at all. It's April now. No more excuses about Christmas shortatges. Either MS can get the product out or they can't.

As long as Sony plays it smart, meaning, Christmas shortage and a "surplus" in spring 2007, they should do just fine. You have to have a shortage to start with or it's simply not exclusive.

Man, the performance demonstrated is really amazing. One SPE even outperforms a P4 running 3.2ghz. That chameleon fish demo would've been lagging all over the place if they used an intel system.

Maybe Ps4 will use a processing core called the Tissue. Hahaha. Imagine that, a bunch of micro-cell units working together on a blade the size of the average processor today.

What I'm wondering is why DOA4 struggling to fit onto a DVD. The levels aren't that big, unless I'm mistaken? Games like PGR3 with the huge cities and highly detailed buildings would have more of a problem wouldn't they?

You missed my post then. It uses 720p video. A full DVD can hold 40mins of 720p video i think. the rest for the game could possible fit on a CD.

downloadable content... hm, that sounds like the killer blow for latin american players... its a shame, sony really does not care for us, its only europe, japan, US and australia... the rest of the poor world does not get any... i see that we are 10 years or so from online gaming here... that´s just sad:tdown:

I don't agree with that. I play my PS2 and PC online just fine. I think it would be even easier to download content from them since we wouldn't have to pay the import taxes we do when buying original games. Although a 10mbit internet would be better to do that, so far the fastest speed we can get over here is 4mbit I think.

its all very expensive... to download that you will need a internatinal visa, to pay your downloads to sony... also, a 4 mega connection would be extremely expensive... i was just scary last night after checking out the price for the xbox360 here... 3.200 i have to work for months to get to that money:crazy:
and the games are 250... no copies yet... so the PS3 will be something like 3.500 or so in the stores here... crazy price, i might have to go to paraguay once again:tup:

Paying R$3.200 for an Xbox360 would be just stupid, that's almost U$1.500. If you import one you'll pay U$399 + shipment + 60% of taxes. That would cost you around R$1.700. Yes, you need an international credit card to buy downloadable content, but I have one and so do a lot of people. A 4mbit connection is not so expensive, at least comparing to what I pay for my 320kbps one it's not. PS2 games cost around R$250 here when released, that's true. But that's why I said downloading payable content (maybe even full games) would be better for us. You wouldn't be paying any import taxes, so a game would cost you just U$50, about R$115.

well i just realized that i am very poor. :yuck: simple as that.:grumpy: right now i´m too afraid of losing on the next generation because its way too expensive for me... i only got my PS2 in 2004, 4 years after it was released because i couldn´t afford one... you have to agree with me felipe, the PS2 is still a videogame for only a few people here... the PS1 is very popular and affordable, but i don´t know a lot of PS2 owners... maybe blumenau is a very rich city:idea: haha. its just looks like its growing... PS2 more expensive than PS1, PS3 way more expensive than PS2... tough to keep up here... i wish i lived in the US... i would got mine right after the launch... with original games and stuff

I'm genuinely surprised about that. I swear I heard that it was going to be on a DVD9 because of its size. I guess it was just hype.
Think what could be done on blu-ray! I guess it's just down to the developers being able (and having the time) to make the most of the space.

The only reason the game is so small has nothing to do with it's storage medium.

Oblivian is only 4.6GB because they need to make the files small enough to stream without severe loading times.

Personally, I'd preferr uncompressed data that was buffered on a harddrive, but that's just me. I do not like compressed textures, as it gives you a very funny appearance when you approach a building etc and the texture is "uncompressed" and then suddenly becomes sharp.

The game was made to fit on a single layer, so you can bet there were many things like models and textures that did not make the cut. I read a few weeks back the 360 owners with HDD may see some extra content which wouls suck for those who would have to fork over $100 for a HDD. The intro i believe is 720p according to the .ini file.

edit: The motorstorm vide really shows how so many people can prejudge poor screen shots. If we ever get a direct video they would see just how cool looking the demo is. It showcases new vehical dynamics never seen before with morphing terrain. And the detail of the buggy is amazing.

Warhawk = DROOL.

Did you see the sun reflecting on the water? ANd the lighting effects? The CLOUDS!? OMG...I'm in love.

*edit*

Note that the developer says many interesting things.

The clouds and lighting is all rendered in SOFTWARE on the Cell, while the RSX does the other heavy lifting...sweet ass.

ALSO, he says the game is running in "true" HD. I'm not sure if he's referring to Sony's catch phrase that "true HD" is 1080p, then that's exciting. Also note it's got 4xAA...sweet again.

He also says the running programs basically aren't even optimized. With the buzz that the ps3 being" slightly better" graphically could be an understatement if spu's(?) can also render to the frame buffer symmetrically with RSX. So in future games that have little demand for AI or physics could go all out ballz to the wallz graphics processing with SPE(U?)'s. 120fps doesnt seem to far fetched......

Duh. The cell by itself can already act as a standalone audio or graphics card.
