Call support and they can deactivate your old one. Or they used to.

My 10th game in my PS3 collection is...

...Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed!

I have not yet played this game, but I just wanted to share that I have this as part of my collection now. Most of you who have read my past posts may know that I eventually wanted to get both Shift titles. Now, I have both. So I can reserve my judgment of this title for when I play just enough of it to draw conclusions. I may even see how my fellow PSN/SEN friends have done playing Shift 2 Unleashed. The game is installing on my PS3 as of this post.

I was sort of wondering if I could get "NFS:S2U" as well as another one. Initially, I didn't have enough money to get both because I was also considering either a Call of Duty or a Battlefield game from the bargain area at Wal-Mart. I eventually (finally) chose to get "NFS:S2U" and add it to my young collection of PS3 titles.

I've enjoyed my first day playing this title. Still not really sure if I prefer this over the first Shift, but I am enjoying this title thus far. Thanks. 👍

I am still enjoying my "Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed" experience. I have started to rack up some Trophies all the while. I've now surpassed the 200 trophy mark with a current total of about 203 from all of my PS3 gaming. Currently 177 Bronzes, 22 Silvers, 4 Golds, and no Platinums.

As for Shift 2 Unleashed... it is terribly hard to pass sometimes! Both of the Shift titles really make you work for it. S2U surely is tougher than some of my toughest races in the first Shift. Two best cars I have so far in this title are the Audi R8 LMS and the Matech Ford GT1. Both handle very well and are plenty capable machines. I'm sorry- I have to stick to Easy with this game. I already have the Trophy for getting 25 Easy victories. Doing the ones for 50 Medium and 75 Hard are near impossible. I also avoid using the confusing Helmet Cam.

Otherwise, enjoying my time playing the game as well as trying to beat the best times from PSN... I mean, SEN friends in NFS:S2U. And I am also still enjoying the PS3 experience even more than half a year since getting my PS3.

Helmet can is pretty the same on easy as it is from the outside camera but Shift 2 is hard I only got 56% in trophies but I beat the game and with Shift I got 75% in trophies so yea it much easier

I'm currently getting a connection error (ID = 1:536) when loading up GT5. Anyone know how to fix it? I tested the internet connection on the PS3 and everything says it's working just fine.

Edit: Cleared Cache in GT5 and it's working now. :odd:

A few days ago, I downloaded the "Cliffhanger" demo of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." It was one of many games I was considering in trying to nail down a good big time title to play. So far, I've spent more time having my ice hooks give out as I fall to my death from Kazahkstan's mountains. I saw a YouTube video showcasing what the rest of the mission features. Seems pretty exciting how the action unfolds. Remember, though- I am not any sort of modern first-person shooter player; and I'd be afraid to say to people that I am completely new to the Call of Duty series. I chose COD:MW2 because I'm sure I'd get owned several times over if I got Black Ops.

Also in my PS3 adventures is MAG. I was downloading the MAG demo, but haven't yet resumed the download. There are still a bunch of really popular titles I haven't yet played or tried out. Getting there, though.

I seem to be having a problem with downloading from the Playstation Store. I recently started playing Black Ops again after a long break and reinstalled all the game data so thought why not get the map pack I had already bought as well.

When I started downloading it, all seemed well and after about 6 or 7 minutes my download got to 300 MB. When it got to 333 MB it just stopped completely and wouldn't download any more of it and even after leaving it on for 2 hours nothing happened. I thought it was odd so decided to cancel the download and try downloading it again and it stopped on exactly 333 MB again. My PS3 would also freeze quite often when on the XMB while downloading this, as soon as I cancelled the download the first time it stopped freezing. So has anyone got any ideas or suggestions on how to sort this? Thanks.

I've found that the older games are harder to do well on as the people playing them are mostly people who know pretty much everything about the maps, spawns and know exactly what they're doing. On the new games you get a lot more people who are playing for their first time so you could probably get many games at your skill level rather than being chucked in with a lot of higher level players. That said MW2 is a great game and I hope you enjoy it.

I'm trying to buy Mass Effect 3 on PSN but it wouldn't work, an error kept popping up. But a text just arrived and it said that Sony Online Entertainment has taken 0.10 GBP from the credit card. What happened to my money, I'm confused as to where it's gone. Does anyone know what happened and if I'll get ME3 on PSN.

Dont think there's anything we can do, you're gunna have to give sony a call i think.

A somewhat scary situation happened a few days ago. I loaded up Gran Turismo 5. It usually takes about 10-15 seconds for the Gran Turismo 5 logo to show up after the Warning screen. It was taking too long for the game to load up as usual. So afterwards, I manually shut down my PS3. I turned it back on and noticed something suggesting the system may have suffered a serious crash. It's kind of like (for my Windows users) when you shut down the computer or have the PC crash and reboot, where the PC may do a scan to see if anything got screwed up as you reboot. All was well, though.

Now time to bomb a bunch of games on you. Despite my worries of it, I am kind of considering either F1 2010 or F1 2011. I am not good at Formula 1 games, and my past Codemasters' experiences haven't been too pleasant. I even wanted to pick up some older games if I saw any at stores. One of them being GRID. I've also always wanted to play blur. One of the newer games I still want to get is "Saints Row: The Third." One time at a Wal-Mart, I saw a Prince of Persia collection featuring re-mastered versions of the POP titles from the previous gaming generation. I always wonder how much of a difference it is to play re-mastered previous-generation games on a current-gen console like the PS3. Like... is there better sound? Better visual quality? Of course, I still have my PS2 to play my PS2 and PS1 games.

GRID is a massively fun game. I've had it since it first came out and I still play it every now and then. Not the most realistic game, but is enough realistic to make you feel like a badass racing driver when you make an awesome overtake!
Just one thing you should know the PS3 version has no trophies and more importantly the online servers for the PS3 have been turned off so no online...
But the 360 version is still online (I think) so if you have an Xbox I'd get that version if i were you.

Does anyone know if when backing up the PS3 on to an external HDD if it includes music and everything or just gaming and other similar data?

if you do a backup to an external drive it "copies" everything on the PS3 hard disk. You will need a backup drive equal to the used space on your ps3.

hmmm, I have plenty of space on my new hdd but I think it would be a waste to have everything from the ps3 backed up. Perhaps I'll just do the gamesaves I'm most worried about.

EDIT: also I'm trying to remember the folder structure, I thought it was PS3>PHOTO, MUSIC, or VIDEO, but apparently that's not it.

EDIT 2: don't need the PS3 level, and it's PICTURE not PHOTO

Hi John, Sony added this to a system update last year. Basically, if a PS3 freezes or is shutdown while data is being recorded to the HDD when it is booted back up, the system will now automatically run the Restore File System utility which looks for any file errors on the HDD and repairs them if possible, and if not, it will delete them.

You can still manually do a Restore File System by initiating the built-in Safe Mode on your PS3.

BTW: They also added an option to send a report directly from your PS3 to their technical support for analysis of what may have caused the error or system freeze. This option will usually be the first thing that pops up after you restart your PS3.

Would anyone be able to help me out here? When watching normal TV I usually have the volume on 12-15 odd but with the PS3 (HDMI) it seems to be much louder so I have to turn it down to about 8 or even as low as 5 in a quiet room.

I was okay with this until I hooked up my new JVC reciever. Playing Skyrim and listening to dialogue up close the PS3 must be pushing max volume limits as the EQ bar on the display shows the volume bars on full and the sound is obviously distorted even at low reciever volume. This is extremely annoying and ruins the gameplay at best, if not damaging the new speakers. Is there any way to reduce the volume output? I looked up on Google and found that the PS3 is loud but to be so loud it distorts the speakers is ridiculous. 👎

Normal TV through these speakers sounds great. 👍

Is there any way to reduce the volume output?

It's actually quite typical for different audio sources (DVR, Cable Box, DVD/Blu-ray player, consoles, etc) to have different levels of audio output, and almost none of them have an adjustable audio output level, and the PS3 is no different. As anyone who has a sound system with multiple audio sources can tell you, it is up to the user to adjust the sound level on their TV, receiver, pre-amp, etc for each source.

I don't know about your JVC, but there are receivers and pre-amps that allow the user to set a specific volume level for each source, such that you would not have to manually adjust the volume each time you switch sources. If your receiver does not, and you find it to inconvenient to simply adjust the volume manually, then you may want to consider replacing your receiver with one that does.

If you really don't want to be bothered, you could also get a decent universal remote with programmable macros that you can set to adjust the volume automatically each time you change sources.

Otherwise, the solution is rather simple, manually adjust the volume when you change sources.

PSN just went down for a minute or two today (around 9:20pm GTM +1).

I was playing Black Ops with friends today, then the disconnection happened. We got to round 29 on the zombie map "FIVE", it took over 2 hours. Not enough rage can describe this :grumpy:

Been getting very frequent disconnects from GT5 all evening, I now can't log in at all.. "The connection with Sony Entertainment Network timed out" comes up every time I try to log in now?

Can't find any evidence of maintenance on the blog/news/twitter feeds... Damn you free online gaming! :-/

Edit: Back on now but I've given up trying to race online for tonight along with the rest of the MX5 owners club, shame as we had a good nights racing going.

"Saints Row: The Third" is the latest game to my PS3 collection. Even from all the intro sequences, this game is crazy! My own initial thoughts on how crazy this game could be were confirmed and fulfilled. I've mostly just explored Steelport while also buying lots of items and property. I've done a few tasks to win some Trophies.

That's all. Just slowly building the PS3 collection. Not sure what future title I may add should I get more money. Maybe take on the Little Big Planet series or something. Still haven't ruled out the DiRT games.

I'm having the same problem and wish there was a way to turn down the consoles output volume. I'm running the sound via HDMI to the TV's speakers and anything loud or with deep bass in game terribly distorts and I don't want to trash my built in speakers.

Even if you lower the in game volume it still is distorted because the PS3 is set so high, it just comes out distorted but at a lower volume! I don't know if changing the sound output mode (the long list with different sound settings) will make a difference plus it warns selecting an incompatible mode might damage equipment which I don't want to do.

(as mentioned just a few posts earlier)

Different sources (OTA, Cable, Satellite, DVR, DVD/Blu-ray players, consoles, etc) have different audio output levels. If you use multiple sources then most often you'll need to adjust the volume (manually or automatically) on your TV/pre-amp/receiver when you change sources.

Very few sources ever let you adjust the audio output level, and the PS3 is no different - thankfully there is an easy solution: Change the volume when you switch sources... and thankfully there are several options for doing it automatically for those that find it too inconvenient to simply adjust the volume manually.
