I am going to try really hard to rent this over the weekend. Maybe even try to rent it tonight. Been wanting to play this game forever.

NO! This game is not a rentable game. This much more! You have to buy it for yourself.

Totally agree.

Unless you're only wanting a speedy run through of it, but then you wouldn't have time to immerse yourself in this wonderful adventure and experience everything the characters go through. Exploring and searching is another really cool aspect of this, so having all the time in the world to make your way through it is definitely the way to go.

Camaroboy tends to rent games first, judging by previous posts.

You folks are right though, it is worth taking the time over, something that a rental deadline will only sully.

Yes I rent most of the time to make sure I like a game. I hardly play the PS3 at all so its very hard for me to justify purchasing a PS3 game. After I rent a game and like it I will usually but it. Recently I rented Diablo 3 on the 360, loved it, purchased when the rental ran out. In fact I purchased (2) Diablo 3 games for the 360. One for myself 1 for my brother.

On topic. I rented this yesterday and had time to play for about 30-45 minutes and so far I am truly enjoying the game. However I didn't expect it to be a full on scary/zombie game. It remind me a lot of The Walking Dead show and the game in a good way.
Already choke me up within the first 30 minutes. How dare you Naughty dog! haha Yes looking forward to putting as much time as I can into this game over the weekend.

First DLC is multiplayer maps releasing October 15th. Boo-urns. I love the multiplayer but was really looking forward to some single player DLC. The update says single player DLC won't come until Dec/Jan. New items for multiplayer also added to season pass.

I guess the one positive is this shows it's not DLC that should've been included on the disc based on the timeframes.

So single player DLC is about a new character, tightly interwoven with the main story..? Sounds like it will really be centered around Ish, which would be awesome.

So the single player DLC is a no brainer to buy, the multiplayer I couldn't care less about.

Looking forward to it.

/This game could only had single player DLC releases. There could be many great adventures to tell.

Bill Town story.

Tommy story

David story.

Henry story.

Marlene....

They can make entire sequels with that stuff. I wouldn't mind, definitely not.

Apparently second DLC would introduce new Character to single player. That was never seen in the game. Amazing 👍 I'm not selling my LoU copy yet :)

I had a chance to put in a solid 6 hours into this game over the weekend. So far the storyline is very good. Only major problem I have is the amount of sneaking and the obvious hate for Clickers. Other than those 2 issues, it has been a great game. I have quite a few pictures but dont want to post spoilers. I might post a couple of the pics tomorrow anyway. I am currently at the bottom of an elevator shaft. Lots of water. Oh..

This was one of the most funny parts of the game so far. I laughed so hard.
We just escaped in the truck and Ellie was looking at the dirty male magazine in the back seat. She opens up the center fold:

Ellie: "whoa how do you even walk around with something like that"
Joel: "You should not be looking at that"
Ellie: "hey why are these pages stuck together??"
Joel: "Ummmmm"
Ellie: "I am just f* with you" Then she throws it out the window "Later dude".

 Funny spoiler. It's a great game. Like you, hated the clickers and the amount of stealth sneaking was reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid.

👍

At least with MGS4 I was still able to run and gun. Well besides I think level 3 in MGS4? Yes that level sucked with the forced sneaking. I barely made it through that level.

As much as I enjoyed the storyline of TLOA and tried to get into this game, it pains me to say the amount of sneaking, clickers, and other enemies has pushed me to the limit. I was doing okay until this part...

I got to the part where the elevator falls and I am separated from Ellie. I am in the water and eventually have to start the generator. At this point clickers, runners and a dang bloater come out. I tried for an hour to get past that level. Its dark, I cant stand sneaking, the clickers are relentless, the bloater is just frustrating, and this level just pushed me over the edge. I ejected the game and returned the rental.

Such a shame because I really wanted to see what happened with the storyline. :guilty:

You should have just run. Some levels can be got through like that, and that's definitely one of 'em.

I understand that and trust me I tried for over an hour.

It was pitch black, I was in water, and turning on the flashlight only made this worse. I ran in at least 6 different directions. If I didn't get consumed by enemies then I kept ending up at a door that required a key card which I didn't have. Died at least 20 times. I am fairly stubborn but just had enough.
I play games for enjoyment and fun, this part was neither of those. So with that said I am going to have to do something I have NEVER done with a game before. I am going to look up the rest of the storyline on youtube. :guilty:

Sorry to hear that, running is a good method here.
Did you not acquire the key card? It's in a small room on the upper level. You shouldn't start the generator until you have the card and know exactly the path you will run. The generator running is what brings the bloater and I thought also some runners out. Otherwise molotov's and anything fire work awesome on the bloater.

I would recommend renting it and trying it again. You haven't reached the best parts of the game yet.

This might be beneath some of you, but I found I enjoyed the game much more, playing it on easy, the first time.
It would also eliminate the bloater from the area Camaroboy was having trouble with. Then you can stand by the generator, and take out all the clickers, as they come to you.

I started out on normal difficulty, and was dieing alot, which sucked the fun right out of it. There's no shame in dropping down to easy, just to get to experience the story. Even on easy, there's some tough spots, but at least they feel doable.

Yes, it is easy to get turned around in that section.
Sorry, I didn't see Mcfizzle's spoiler post earlier. He is right, find the key card before turning on the generator and pick a route.
Anyway, if you do decide to go back to it at some point, as Mcfizzle says, that should get you past them.

I have to admit, this is exactly what I did. The Clickers were just too dang hard for me and took the fun out of it also. Once I set it to easy, I was able to play through and experience the story. Once completed, you can play it again but keep your experience upgrades. You might be able to raise the difficultly level then for some run and gun tactics. :)

Thanks for the advice but I decided to just watch the rest of the story on Youtube.

Just got through the winter part of the storyline on youtube after they captured Ellie. Just wow. The giraffe scene was so awesome too. What an amazing storyline.

Oh crap, today I got to the part where they are talking about the surgery on Ellie but my lunch break is over. Only have a little left of the story which I will finish on youtube tomorrow. I don’t like where its going. Starting to remind me of what happened with the movie called "The phenomenon". Oh I hope not. That would just be way too sad.

Oh man, that's putting the difficulty on Ultra Easy.

You're getting to the good part!

Yes very easy indeed. I even get to eat my lunch while I watch the movie.
I am terrified to be honest of whats coming up at the end of the story. They mentioned surgery and that the infection is on her brain. Seriously reminds me way too much of movie called "The phenomenon". I really hope its not going where I think it is going. I have grown to like these characters way too much. Dang you Naughty Dog! I guess I will see the rest of the story tomorrow. One thing is for sure, my heart was pounding at that part where the guy is on top of Ellie! So happy when she hacked him to pieces! I was sweating!!

It's a story that initiates a lot of discussion. It will be interesting to see what you feel after finishing it. It's the best game of the generation for me, passing the emotions that Journey brought on.

It's the best game of the generation...

I agree. Solid story and gameplay. My only complaint was finishing it, I wanted to keep going. I've played through it 5 times, and was still catching stuff I missed.

Before starting the generator, put three bombs in the doorway that the bloater comes through. You will never even see the bloater and it makes the level much easier.
