Will do some testing this week sometime. Too much stuff to do around the house tonight to set up the steering wheel again.

I thought rigidity was the only way to go

Nah, it's a pain in the ass when putting it on an SC and I like my GT-Rs much more without it.

The Zs and Supras and NSXs did well with it.

Ok, so on to my race report..

I started in 6th which was good. Close enough to stay with the lead pack.

Race started just fine. It was really cool to watch the replay and how the two files merged to one after the Dunlop S. 👍

Initially, I had plans to not stop.
I did some serious testing, and with some fuel saving draft driving I knew I could make it all the way.
But when the race started, it became obvious that I was'nt going to save any fuel in that draft train.
I practiced behind one car, but in the race, the car ahead obviously got pulled in a 3rd cars draft, making me floor it 100% all the time just to not loose the draft.
After 2-3 laps, I ran last in a 5-6 car lead pack.

By lap 2, my lap time was 3:55, so I thought that all the position changing in my group did'nt lead to faster lap times.
Going 2 cars, draft jump eachother gets you constant 51's/52's. But since that was'nt the case, I decided to pit after lap 4 to get fresh rubber and pull 53's on my own to try and jump the pack.
I knew from testing that my tires could make 16 laps below 57's, so was'nt worried about tire wear at all.
I also knew that I'd need around 7 liters to make it the full distance (without any draft to save fuel in), so decided to put the "free" 12 liters while pitting.

When I came out of the pits, I saw Dom comming up behind me, so I let off the throttle to let him catch me so we could help eachother with pace and tire concervation.
Said and done.
We started to pull 52's, and it felt like we should be able to pass the main pack while they sat in the pits.
Sadly, the few seconds I gave up when waiting for Dom turned out to be crucial.
Once we reached mid race distance, we found ourselves in the back of the mid pack.
And now, we could'nt keep up what we had going due to other cars beeing in the mix.

Dom started to loose me and Johnkiller by lap 10-11, so I decided to stay with Johan to try and catch Will, Simon and one more (Eddie? Wii? Michouw?).
And suddenly, Simon was limping his Lexus down the Mulsanne straight due to damage.

Me and Johan did'nt work together at all, so it took us some time to catch Will, who lost the draft of the next guy in front at the same time as we started to reel him in.

On lap 14, I was in 8th, which was far from what I had hoped for, but I felt I had at least Will and Johan within reach to snatch 6th..

Will makes a mistake on lap 14, so I was then in 7th, trying to hang on to Johan who had good pace in this part of the race.
I lost him on lap 15, only to see him entering the pits (fuel).
I was now on the last lap in 6th.

Eddie and Wii was just out of reach, and they did a good job keeping me out of reach for their draft by racing smart together.
So I was in 6th and felt ok with that.

Then, my girlfriend pag appears on my map as a sitting duck down towards Indianapolis. And with Wii and Eddie charging towards him..
I saw a huge cloud of dust and thought for a second that Wii and Eddie perhaps crashed in to pag, resulting in 3rd for me..
But no, the cloud was Wii who swerwed hard to avoid pag, but he managed to keep the car under control. Well done! 👍

I managed to pass pag just moments later, and I was now in 5th, which was my final position.
Really happy with a race around LaSarthe with constant action.
Not happy with my poor strategy.

Looking much forward to Monza!

LOL

Great write up Dennis. I may give me own later on.

Every one, just to let you all know; we're going to be posting administration reports this week for Laguna Seca - Round 2 and La Sarthe - Round 3.

The reports will detail incident penalties, the reasoning behind them and will also allow every one to get a much better insight on how we are choosing to handle incidents in JGTS 2 through the season. Sarthe was a bit of a shocker for some, but it will be mended after every one takes a look at themselves and realizes exactly where things went wrong for who with good help from the reports.

We appreciate every one who has chosen to work with us to make this championship a continued success.

Should have this by the end of the week.......:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Fanatec GT3 wheel + CSR Elite pedals = 281 and change after shipping.

Oh great. Just what you need. A load cell brake to make you even faster :nervous:

That looks light years ahead of what I use:

At least, that's what my DF Pro feels like. I turn it, and hope the car goes that direction.

Braking is my greatest weakness. :scared:

Love the pic

Any prospect on upgrading?
I know you could get a DFGT pretty cheap, but the pedals let me down from day 1, especially compared to the wheel itself. This was the cheapest set with good pedals on the market atm, full price being about $80 more than the package deal.(Wheel + pedals) No, the wheels don't come with pedals. 🤬 🤬 's.

Congrats on the new setup Dom!
I'm still struggling at times with my CSR. And since your wheel's gonna be older, I wanna warn you Dom, you're in for a hell of a learning experience. Especially with the pedals (load cell does not make one faster btw, not at all, it's just a preferential feel) What were you on before?

Rich, if I were you I'd be gunning for at least a DFGT. You'll probably find easily half a second at least on every one of your personal bests.

Half a second? I highly doubt that! If that was the case, then I'd be nearly as fast as Adam!

You could race GT-A USA finalists (In those practice rooms you guys had) so I don't see why not Outlaw ;).

sweet... exactly what I've been using for 2 years now. (original 'open air' club sports though). 👍

Made me a hell-of-a-lot faster since I'm used to a real brake pedal... so I need my FF and input to feel *real*.
If you started using racing wheels before you started driving cars though... probably takes some getting used to.

He asked, just inches away from the answer...:P DFGT.
It's been "ok". I was thrilled with it on day one, it was worlds better than I expected, but the pedals a bit of a letdown. As time progressed, the knob for adjusting on the fly quickly became slightly broken, and ever so slowly more and more broken to the point I can barely use it, and I've had to take apart the pedals and clean them 4-5 times over sticking pedals.
It's great bang for the buck, but a slightly more expensive package with better pedals and/or shifter that totals in the $180-$200 range would be better.(The G25/27 were both $300 new)

Same. I must be doing something wrong, since my braking distances are inconsistent, even when using the same pressure and reference points.
Only when the Pro finally quits on me.
I can't tell how much brake I'm applying except 0 and 100%. I can't feel enough and the travel is inconsistent with what happens in the game, so I guesstimate. :/

DFGT never made me notably faster than the DS3 tbh.
I know initially slower, and I assume I must have gained my speed back, but I can't say I couldn't be doing the same if I'd used the DS3 all this time.
I'm faster in GT5 compared to previous games, but I've run far more serious and competitive laps in GT5.

I just can't shell 250 for pedals. I want too, and I could have gotten the GT2/Clubs for 430, but we're talking $170 for clubsports over CSR Elites (package brings them to $80 over GT3 wheel cost)
Idk, I'm cheap too. :D

Points are online for D1 and D2 now.

I got GT3 RS V2 + Clubsports for $310 shipped on Christmas special November 2010.
The wheel had just come out and they did some 1/2 off deal if you bought it with clubsports. I was so happy with the deal I picked up the rennsport stand 6 months later for $100. ;)

Nevermind...

Good news: HSV sounds a lot better. A lot.

Possible bad news: HSV loses a lot of steam in its new high RPM range.

Gotta see the HSVs new noise.. Also it's interior view has been adjusted and it's rear view camera works too 👍.

Edit: The new tyre wear thing is wierd though None, Normal as per but now theres fast and very fast too.

Wow. Surprise update ftw!

Link to patch notes
Guess the only differences that would affect this series is engine noise for the HSV and change in tire wear. Maybe, just maybe...

...nah. I bet the Z will still eat the rears like tourists hitting the buffet line.
On the subject of wheels...

This will make me faster right? :dopey:
Only if there's a secret push-to-pass button on it.

Omg Mule is right doing a speed test with the HSV and wow! (7am so using DS3) :dopey: So damn sexy .

Also to my ear it's much different to F1/X1 noises (People were saying it was a recycled F1/X1 noise..), it certainly has it's own unique sound to it :).
