In Multi-Class racing, let's say I do LMP1, 2, GTLM and GT3, will the different classes have different colored lights for if I do a race at night or that goes into night? Sorry if this has been asked.

I'm sure the headlights will be the same as real life. I don't think every GT3 has gold lights.

edit: Corvette and other GTE have yellow lights as per real life. My explanation below is specific to "leader lights" as we see in IMSA racing

Class lighting, unfortunately no.

To distinguish the classes while racing we provide something called the Relative Position HUD gadget. This shows the drivers immediately +2 and -2 postions to you on the track (regardless of class). Each driver's initials and vehicle class are shown, along with your live delta to each (which can help you estimate where you might catch up to a slower vehicle or how fast a faster class vehicle is closing in on you). And each class has a specific color. This is similar to what you might see in an IMSA/WEC TV broadcast except now we bring that right to your HUD while racing. Also remember that as in pCARS1 the HUD can be customized (you can move elements around and/or disable individual pieces. No re-sizing however.)

Hope this helps you guys better manage your multi-class racing

First question of day. Will we be able to regulate the max fuel we can use on raceday (online/offline basis)? I feel like if you want to do a certain number of laps or hours in a race the AI don't pit enough. However i do understand that there is the option to use real fuel consumption (the one i use) 2x 3x and i believe another multiplier set but sometimes it could be hard to determine the time to pit. So like a max fuel intake while using the real option would be cool. 2nd Q. Will we be able to set mandatory pit stops for offline (as i assume you can do this online).

For 1, I think that's actually a really good idea.

I think 2's been confirmed already.

I like the first idea also. Didn't Group C have a similar rule in Europe? It would keep the turbo boost in check on the Sauber and Nissan for what we have.

I recall mandatory pits being confirmed offline also.

Cool that would be awesome if we got mandatory pitstops because i think it would be a start in place of Question 1. I am a little upset that those color coded position numbers can't be on the GTLM/E/3/D and LMP cars but they are on the right track can't wait for this game literally. Im hoping to make way more friends because of this game on ps4 next time around.
I've also just thought of another weird question, Will the tv screens around different tracks show live feed and will the big screen on Le Mans actually work on consoles this time around but as the leader board perspective?

Im sorry last question of the day, Promise. Lets say if offline championships weren't going to come to PC period because of the career mode. How extensive would you SMS then make career mode in terms of playing different occupations (the things you have planned for this years career mode), maybe your own included championship like you can make SMS dedicated championships with one car makes and other mixes. Like cutscenes.

I've recently been doing 30 min races with tire wear set to either 2x or 3x (doesn't particularly matter which for most tracks but for ones with long straights (eg Le Mans/Bathurst) 3x is best) and this guarantees everyone has to pit at least once per race. Sometimes the AI wait until quite far into the race to pit, but I tend (need) to do it around halfway as that's when the tires drop off. Makes for some great races, and means you don't have to work out fuel consumption, as the pits will need to be visited to change tires instead.

Have you also @bleeder tried the 4 random weather slots with it set to 5x progression. I have forgot who mentioned but it was the best the thing i have ever tried on this game for it makes races so much fun and really unpredictable without the weather changing too fast or too slow

No, I never go random. Don't much like driving in the rain so I only turn up on dry days. Or nights. The level of AI clairvoyance in regards to weather puts me off, as I've seen them pit for wets when it hasn't been raining at all but then magically a lap later there's rain.

It was me!! Set it to 10x though for better changes. Random side note, if you like to see a lot of cloud movement but no rain, set the four slots to some kind of cloud formation but each one different. Usually clear, light, and medium work best. Set it to 15 or 20x and you will see the clouds moving around a lot like it's a windy day but you know it'll never turn to rain.

I like the randomness and definitely will like it more if I do a 30 minute race with increased tire wear. This way there has to be a pit stop no matter what so if it starts dry and then rains I have to decide if I want to pit early or hold out and pit when normally planned and hope the rain stops. Fun!

You probably won't be allowed to answer something like that (especially if the answer is negative), but: Were there any people at the preview event that were genuinely unimpressed? Because the Team VVV video seemed amazingly promising and I'm just curious if there were many people as impressed as them.
I was there myself and I didn't hear any negative feedback during the evening - I was often listening in on conversations (where I could hear them, over the DJ's music!). The vibe was positive from all quarters. All four motion rigs were occupied all night, often with at least 2 or 3 people waiting to get on them and I regularly saw people coming back for a second or third go (or, in the case of one young lad, about 15 goes!).

That said, I wasn't in the main room all night and I wasn't listening to every bit of feedback from every person, so I can only tell you what I heard and about the general mood. Both of which were, as I said, very positive.

I don't work for SMS by the way (never been paid a penny by them, other than WMD returns) and am not affiliated with them in any way other than being a WMD/WMD2 backer. It's no secret, however that I am one of the more enthusiastic supporters of the games they've produced. I gave exactly the same feedback, as per my 1st paragraph, to SMS after the event.

Cluck on GT Planet. Now I have seen everything!

The main concern from these organized nights is that business companies only invite those who are on the inside or give favorable reviews. Need I mention the Italy arm of IGN to help get one franchise across the quicksand?

Was this night open to all? Do you have any photos to share?

Most videos released from other nights show people who have little idea about sim racing sliding all over the track and missing braking points. We still have no real feedback on what the game is like unfortunately. People who could tell us are banned by that non disclosure thing.

We, the WMD members are not banned to nondisclosure in many cases. But we're in alpha state. We cannot really give feedback to the community, as we don't know if something is final state or not. If we find bugs or wrong functionality, we inform developers. Many things are in deep polishing progress, yesterday it worked, today not, tomorrow better. Thats development. And thats why you can't get every information you like. All i can say, there is a big difference between Pc1 and 2 and it is a pleasure to follow development and to " feel " that baby.
BTW. Dirt4 comes in 2 months. Compared to information you got from SMS about PCars2, we know really nothing about Dirt

Will your selected number be applied to everything you drive this time around?
As much as I hate 10 of the exact same livery racing online, it would help immersion if they at least had unique numbers.

Then as a follow on question, will you be able to get your name on the window in career? And gamertag online?
It might just be me, but I think that would be perfect for replays and broadcasts and such

Heh, I joined not long ago for a very specific purpose but stuck around, you all seemed like a decent bunch :D.

To answer some of your points, as best I can (I am still uncertain about what I am allowed to say in public):

1. There was a very wide mix of people at the event. Journalists, YouTubers (I think that's what they call them, sorry, I'm old!), car manufacturer owners, young, old, middle-aged, the well-dressed and the poorly-dressed were all in attendance.

2. I believe it was invite-only. The only thing I can say is that "If your name's not down, you're not coming in" ;). I was starting to panic, when they couldn't find my name on the list :embarrassed:.

3. I'm quite old-fashioned I'm afraid. I took 3 or 4 photos on the night, that's it (2 were of the leaderboard!). I was more interested in talking to people, listening to people's reactions - from a semi-independent standpoint - and having a go on the motion rigs.

4. I don't know if they had wheels hooked up to the 'direct capture' machines - I didn't realise there was another room, when I was at the event - so it's possible that you're seeing some people driving that are more used to using wheels. I don't know though, but I do know that Alan Boiston, of Team VVV, tried out the motion rigs and I believe he was the fastest non-SMS guy on the evening (but, again, I could be wrong on that). Certainly, the people I spoke to - and listened to - could all feel definite improvements over pCARS1.

As for "how the game is like", the events are quite obviously locked down to very specific combinations for people to try. Because everything is still work-in-progress but with some items further advanced than others, it doesn't make sense to let people loose on all the content, lest they pick a car or track that is not currently as advanced in the process.

Hope that helps a little :)

In Project CARS 1 one of the small annoyances is that after completing a race in career mode it seems on the next screen a random choice is highlighted (continue, restart, view replay, etc.). This has already lead to me restarting a race when I didn't want to. Would it be possible to always highlight "continue" in this situation? After finishing a race continue is the obvious choice and I would rather see that highlighted so I can press X on my Xbox rapidly to go through all the click-through screens.

Same when I hit the pauze menu during a race and I select "restart". The next screen is a popup screen where the choice "no" is always selected by default. Would it be possible to highlight "yes" in this case?

In general - for multiple choice menu's please make the most obvious / most common choice the highlighted one so the annoyance of always having to change the selection before hitting X is not needed.

But if you accidentally select RESTART the last thing you want is the next option being a default YES, just in case you press X twice or something and restart when you don't want to. Granted, it's pretty hard to accidentally select RESTART as it's so far down the list, but still... Actually, I'd like to see the RESTART option near the top of the list and not have to scroll all the way down, although I have no idea what the interface currently looks like anyway :dopey:

If you accidentally select restart you should already get a clue of your mis-click by seeing a popup message. IMO there is no reason to have the default selection to "no".

Q1. Will you be able to start a race on an already damp track and let it dry out for the race duration - no rain at all? It would be as if there was a weather slot before the race that determines track conditions and then have the 4 weather slots that you actually race in. At the moment you if you want a wet track at the start of the race you have to set it to rain.

Q2. When it is wet will the grass be extra slippery along with the kerbs and white lines so that if you put even 1 wheel on them you are highly likely to spin?

We've heard about it 1 taking place.

According to WMD, you can do this by ending a practice/qualifying session with wet weather; the track will still be wet when the race starts (if the race is set to take place on the same in-game day).

I asked exactly the same question a few weeks ago and didnt get an answer

The other question i wanted to ask @The_American, will we be able to restrict tyre choice in online lobbies / championships in the regulations ?

Question for any of the devs: do you have an estimate of when the first console footage might be released? The GTS beta seems to be causing a great deal of excitement. Reminding people that pCARS 2 is coming by showing some actual footage might not be a bad idea, assuming it's in a viewable state right now.
