So,you're one of those who feel PRC has to tear every game down no matter what?
I know for a fact he's giving his unbiased opinion and was in no way influenced by SMS/Bandai Namco or anything else...

Sorry, but this doesn't change that the PRC story is fishy beyond belief.
I mean, PRC is and was about basically slandering everything sim racers, sim games and sim developers supposedly do wrong. OK, now this guy got a race car and is being paid by one of the companies - and has STOPPED slandering said company because of a "conflict of interest" while still giving everyone else a hard time where he is able to. So, SMS have an employee that uses his free time to abuse the hell out of every other sim racing developer EXCEPT SMS. Not strange at all.

I don't think Ian tells PRC what to write. But, seriously, would you say anything too negative about the guy who pays you and fulfilled you dream? No? His competition? Maaaaybe...

There is always going to be some bias if you are involved even if you are not aware you are being so, but think his comments on pcars 2 are honest & mirror the majority of opinion that's coming out from those who have tried it so far.
I actually think his trashing of sims is where he is dishonest or simply deluded. Take the article on GTR3s unreal engine. I only really read his articles to laugh at as most of the time they get picked apart in the comments section. Sure he makes some valid points at times but most of the time they are conspiracies. So no surprise that many visitors to that site tend to have suspicions them selves. But yeah if he is being a bit more mature about pcars then he needs to treat the other blogs the same.
I do think Ian is being shrewd though, knowing that if he gets Austin (who was responsible for a lot of the grief they got)on board he will get that sms are not such bad people & genuinely want to make the best sim.
Biggest issue i have with the whole thing is SMS association with somebody with such right wing views. I'm not happy about that as a potential customer tbh.

He's always been way over the top with negativity. It seems to be now he is being way more constructive with his post. At least with PCARS.

That part of your post is as accurate as they come. I've got no problem with PRC's PCARS 2 coverage. It's what they write about the other developers that bugs me most.
Previously, it was just a hate blog. Not really productive (as seen in articles where they, for example, slandered pCARS2 for not being perfect after a few WEEKS of development), but they basically went against everyone in the sim community.

Now, it's the selective hate blog from someone who works for one of these sim companies. That's ... not exactly a good situation. He should simply stop writing as abusive articles about the other developers as he currently does.

Yeah ok. PRC is a joke! Now it's even funnier that they have a car and are on payroll.

I think I recall somewhere something about changes to the AI. So my question is, would it be possible to set a range for the AI?

In pCars1 it seems the margin between the AI is always small, with just a few seconds between the lead AI and the last AI. I understand this is realistic in a competitive racing scene, but its not always fun for players that are learning/improving.

This is because it can be difficult when setting up a race to know how competitive the AI will be. Often, say 50 is too slow and can be beaten easily while 55 puts you at the back of the pack. Or when setting up a multiplayer session, where the skill of the players is about 40 and 60 (in AI terms) its not possible to set up a fun AI that both players can race with. AI of 50 is leaving one guy miles out in front and the other at the back, with a bunch of AI doing their own thing in the middle.

If you could manually set the range larger (say the 40 to 60 mentioned above), you could more effectively set up races where you would be towards the back of the pack to begin with, but climb up the results throughout the season the better you get. Its much more convenient and fun than having to keep changing the AI difficulty as you get better to keep any competition. In Multiplayer, the players would still have some AI at about their skill to race against.

This doesn't mean that the entire pack skill should be evenly distributed, or speed restricted. That would create some very boring Gran Turismo style parade laps with no AI overtaking. Instead what it would mean is that the skills would be more randomly distributed, creating packs of AI on the track at similar skills. The lower skills maybe just as fast but more likely to make mistakes, mixing it up throughout the race. The end result would still then be a much larger range of total finish times.

Possible?

In PCARS1 during the countdown with the red lights you can already turn on your wid screen wiper but not yet your headlights (headlights only until after the green light).
Can both be operated during the countdown in PCARS2 please?

I turn my headlights on while still doing the fly over of the grid!! Not sure why you say you can't? I use it to help me find my car on the long grid shot :)

EDIT: I'm on PC. IS this another "console is different" thing?

Nope, you can do that on PS4, did that literally just now in fact :)

Uhm I cannot on my controller for sure. That is on Xbox One, just tried it again in my LMP2 car. I have lights on bound to DPAD up and it only works from the green light on, not during the red lights countdown.

@Ian, apart from the new laser/drone scanned tracks, could you tell us a bit if and how the existing non-scanned tracks that carry over from PCARS1 have been improved? We already know they have live track 3.0 as well and I assume also the seasonal changes like snow etc. But have more trees and objects etc have been added etc?

Thanks for the heads up. Never knew before you could turn on the wipers during the countdown. Well, you live and you learn I guess.

Yes, in pCARS 1 you cannot use wiper under AI control. This includes pit lane, starting grid, etc.
Not true on PC. I can in fact turn on wipers while sitting in the pit box or being driven down pit lane. I can turn both wipers and lights on while sitting on the grid waiting for the lights.
