Jordan does the asking.
Asking to become a mod is a sure fire way to get put on the never to be a mod list.

Are you guys most satisfied with where the current GTP is and it's current regular members or do you look back to by-gone days and wish GTP was still the same as it used to be, whenever that time may be for you?
The Mods aren't the ones that need to be satisfied. That burden falls on @Jordan. That said, I passed 9 years on GTPlanet a few months ago. I am a member of a few other forums and have a total of *guesses* 10 posts between them all. This is my online home and the members, both current and past, are what make it home so, no, I wouldn't change anything.

Obviously there are those that try your patience, but I just either ignore or ban them.

A lot of things will get you on that list...

I like that. I've been a member on many websites, but this community keeps me coming back, and your response is a perfect example why 👍.

As a 10+ year member myself I would agree with the above statement too.

I have probably 2 other forums which I visit somewhat regularly (1 not so much now I don't do any PC sim racing) and yet GTP will always be my home and the one I come back to.

I thought GTP lost its way at some point but the last few years, with the addition of the infield I feel GTP has really done well to appeal to the reason why I have stayed all this time.

More or less the same answer as TB and Fryz already provided; I hit 10 years in August, and while some of those early years were pretty inactive, I've always come back to GTP. It's definitely my online home now, especially after planning the crazy last-minute trip to NYC in September and meeting both Jordan and T-12 (and paskowitz). I don't see that changing anytime soon 👍

As for who did the asking; Jordan asked me, though I had actually coincidentally sent him a PM a little while before that, just to toss around some ideas. Did not expect that sort of response ;)

So it no longer says 'Banned' along the top of the posts.

I really wish you mods would have a rule for yourselves that whenever you ban someone you posted it on the banned members thread.

Have moderated five other forums. My first moderator position was actually on (whisper it) a poetry forum.

This is my second most active forum, ever. I've got 20k posts on another forum... but I prefer it here.

I have some moderation duties on a wiki (not Wikipedia), but I haven't used the mod tools in about three years. I contribute on a "I'm bored at work" basis, at most, but it's more fun here.

GTPlanet really raises your standards; I don't like dealing with a forum for long if there's not some strong (but not questionable) moderation in place.

Was shadowing a doctor when one of the patients asked what the difference was between viagra and cialis at the front desk.

I wanted to say, "It's like being a moderator on XenForo vs. VBulletin." As long as you can still ban people, who cares?

****. Sorry about that.

I could tell you whether it did or not, but then again you shouldn't exactly be swearing.

edit: So, hey, that emote doesn't cover swear words. I should give you an infraction for lying! No, but, really... if you see someone trying to bypass the censor just report it.

If someone swears and the emoticon automatically replaces the word, does it set off a warning and tell mod HQ?
The only thing that happens when you type an expletive properly is it's replaced with asterisks, not the 🤬 smiley. That said, no, we don't receive an automatic warning from that and to be honest I wouldn't want one for every occurrence. The only warning we receive is if someone reports the post or if we come across it ourselves.
