... Thanks, Cody. Pleasant of you.

I didn't tell people *not* to post, but rather to be careful what they posted - especially towards my friends, whom I didn't want to see getting in any trouble. I enjoy racing with them, they're good people. Thus, if one were even tempo-banned, I'd be sad.

Uh, your post is blank @Danny.

Whatever you're doing, it's considered witch craft and I'm forced to ask you to knock it off.

Ahhhhh you've gotta love the ol' "I forgot all my previous posts even though I could go back to it and see if I'm contradicting myself and making myself look like an idiot" contradictions

Or IFAMPPETICGBTIASIICMAMMLLAI contradictions for short

What's the GTP equivalent of burning witches?

It involves ducks. That's all I can legally say.
I now feel very scared for @Danny

Just don't put bread in his underwear, that's a serious step too far I talk from deeply disturbing experience.

In summary:

I'm not even going to waste my time with typing a funny reason for a thread which gets deleted a minute later.
Even though you had the time to post in the thread.
No, I ensured that other members didn't get in trouble...
Ignore them and they'll give up sooner.
Exactly what I was implying...
am I talking to a brick wall?

I seem to have missed all the fun, too. Phooey.

Should =/= mustn't

And, according to @daan, the right thing to do was avoid posting, so, so be it. Perhaps AUP should say "don't post on a thread which is about a member insulting mods or spamming" or something, so that everyone can apply that rule, so my friends and I don't break that non-existent rule?

So, questions about mods: is the AUP ever updated?

So, questions about mods: is the AUP ever updated?

Sure, if it needs to be. Which is very, very rarely. See below:

I think it falls under "INB4 posts" doesn't it? Posting in a thread you know will be locked?

That's as good a reason as any to not post in threads like the ones that infected the drag section yesterday. Worried your friends are going to say something to get them in trouble? Hurling insults (yes, even at soon-to-be-banned members) is an AUP violation, so as long as they're already following it, the smart thing to do is just report and move along.

Which is what was said an entire page ago, yet you still take issue with it.

Should =/= mustn't
Perhaps from here on out, the best course of action would be to leave the moderating to the moderators, if only because telling people not to post in a thread will only draw attention to that thread. It was my experience that nobody who directed abuse at the moderators were not actually looking to change anything, but just draw attention to their grievances by making as much noise as possible.

So, if you see something that you think violates the AUP, use the Report function. That's what it's there for. It sends an e-mail to every active moderator informing them of the issue. Since the moderators live all over the world, there is almost always someone online, and they can deal with it in short order. Drawing attention to questionable content in a thread, usually creates more problems than it solves.

Perhaps we assume that these things are covered by something called common sense so we don't need a rule. We can't have, and don't need, a rule for everything.

If you're going to watch (Censored by Tyler) for the first time don't read thispost because spoilers
Does each mod have a much cooler friend who turns out to be themselves?

Of course...the real me flashes a mod badge and goes anywhere he wants, but I have to take off my shoes and do jumping jacks for security.

I do confess I still haven't gotten around to seeing The Life of Pi. I know, I know...

Question to mods: what is it like to try to avoid playing "favourites" when one of your friends that aren't mods when other users are in trouble with the AUP?
and an add on question to the last question, do you show any leniency to premium members in regards to the AUP?

In a poll, is there a way for mods to see what option(s) a member chose?

Example: Do you like bacon? Yes or no.

If I selected yes, would you be able to see it?

I'm not sure how the alter ego could be any more damn cool... Maybe wearing a backwards cap indoors? :indiff:

And you really should. Optimus and The Mandarin finally become friends :D

Break the AUP, get infracted

Are infractions "Warning Points"? Because I remember posting a GIF with an F-word, and I was told by Touring Mars that the post was deleted because of its bad language in the thread. Around four years ago, I remember posting a picture with F-bombs, but another user managed to remind me that it might not be AUP-friendly, so I edited that post to have a language warning and a link, instead of displaying the whole picture. But I still have 0 warning points.

Are infractions another thing, or...were the mods just being nice...

There was warnings prior to GTP12 where you wouldn't get points. I had one. Now everything's infractions I presume.
