Las Vegas isn't suited for IRL racing (I do not want to start a argument, it's my opnion). But yeah, Dan Wheldon was in the wrong place in the wrong time. Nothing he could do on that situation. Always in our hearts. RIP Dan Wheldon.

Pippa Mann, JR Hildebrand and Will Power have gone to hospital

I just saw the clip, hopefully everyone else turns out okay. Looks like it turned out pretty scary for Will Power. This has to have been one of the worst crashes I've ever seen.

Truly a sad day for motorsports.

Didn't see it happen, but just saw the news. I can't believe it.

Is anyone else hurt in this accident?

According to eurosport a while back they said Pippa Mann, JR Hildebrand went to be checked out in hospital for dizzyness or something and will power went with lower back pain but havnt heard nothing since

Had to look it up,
here for those like me who don't know anything:

horrible crash,
RIP and condolences to family and friends.

sad day for motorsport again :(

I've been to Las Vegas Motor Speedway a dozen times for the nascar races. A very fast, high speed track. Now I know why it has been absent from the Indy car schedule for 10 or so years

I am going to be le mad if this doesn't result in safety improvements. RIP, Dan—let's hope your death wasn't for our amusement.

I don't really follow IRL too much but I always rooted for Dan when I did watch. Seemed like a good man, not cocky or anything. Sad news anyday we loose a race car driver in any racing league.

RIP Dan.

It was a horrible thing to see. Using my binoculars to view the scene and his car I had a deep sinking feeling that he wasn't ok. My dad and I were being optimistic but two hours after the red flag and the driver meeting, they announced his passing and I just lost it. It was terrible. I never wanted to see anything like this in a sport I love so much. It just left me shaken.

While I was at work, I wasd thinking about NASCAR and all I had a feeling about someone dying. I had played it off since I figured it was nothing. Then I get home and my mom told me. I'm not gonna lie, I cried when I got upstairs. I only have one IRL driver shirt, and it's Dan's. And I'm wearing it now. I don't watch IRL too often, but he was my favorite since 2006 when I saw them race in Michigan. Too sad :guilty:.

Here's a video I took of the parade lap. I won't be uploading the crash video. I will upload a picture of what we saw though.

Start watching at the 1:00 minute mark.

I'll also upload this video of the first few laps. I apologize for the quality of the video. I was, of course, more interested in watching it myself than being a good camera man.

Again, out of respect, I won't upload the video of the crash I took but would like to share this with you in order to memorialize him for what he loved doing best:

A great champion, he'll be missed.

It never crossed my mind that I would live to see such a devastating accident like this and with the consequences it had. Im truly heartbroken by the death of this promising star of Indy. I never followed Indy, but it is still very sad to hear this. R.I.P. Dan Wheldon. You will be missed by Motorsport's fans, drivers as well as staff. My prayers go out to his family and friends.:nervous::nervous:

Rest in Peace. He will be missed. It was a shame he had to die so young and in such a horrific crash. Still can't get over the destruction.

I was in Imola when Ayrton Senna died and I saw the accident, now every time a pilot dies in a race my heart breaks and I think how truly passionate this guys are. Sure they are paid a lot, sure they do what they love to do, but sure also they risk their lives for our entertainment and for their passion. I hope we will never see anything like this. RIP Dan Wheldon.

I only saw the video of the initial crash, but you could just tell from all the mayhem that nothing good was going to come of it. Rest in peace Dan Wheldon, for we hardly knew you.

I couldnt beleive what I was watching, Horrific crash, followed by a terrible terrible loss. Seeing how many people in IRL are affected by this is heartbreaking and the Sky Sports panelists could barely get their words out. Certainly a very sad day for motorsport.

R.I.P Dan.

That was a horrific crash...

R.I.P. Dan

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family!
