I picked up 200 rounds of CCI Mini-Mags today at lunch. However, that is the first time I have seen some .22LR in stock in quite some time.
I started looking around for those. Damn it man, you don't even have the gun for it yet.

Possibly. I have no way to check my friend's list though. My PS3 has been dead for quite some time now.
He had like three ARs, but the smart boy sold them all during the Post-Connecticut madness. Can't blame him. People still call me stupid for hanging onto my AR.
Yes and No. By simply screwing it in from the under belly portion of the stock, it would not hold up very long. It would eventually work itself loose. Now, if you were to dis-assemble the gun, install a nutsert from the inside portion of the stock, maybe even applying a bit of JBWeld around the nutsert, it would be damn near pull-out proof. Keep in mind, do this in a "meaty" portion of the stock. I've done this trick to a Mosin Nagant with an Archangel stock. It worked out fantastic.
That's along the line I was thinking. Thanks for the testimony! 👍
Not here in Ohio. 22LR is everywhere now. The only problem is shopping around to see who is cutting the deals on this stuff. It's still a bit on the pricey side of things. Text messages are flying amongst friends .... so and so has it for $$$ .... this guy has it for $$$. Just depends. Supply, well this guy still has his "no limit" sales in tact. He's a little on the higher side, but he's got plenty of it and will sell as much of it as you want .... how deep are your pockets ? He'll still sell it to you.
That is excellent news. 👍

Before the shortage, general prices around here were $18 ~ $25 for a brick(500~525, of course). What's your pricing in your area before & after? Do you think I'll start seeing $18~$25 again, or do you think that's a long shot?
I am just looking for something to plink around with.
Bolt-action might be cool too, although I still recommend the 10/22.

@ Brett
They are not an overly expensive rifle to purchase. I've seen them for under $300 brand spanking new ... $150 used, at gun shows. The Target is a sweet looking piece, or are you into the Tactical look such as the Carbine and the Tactical ? Mount a scope on one and you've got an excellent 200 yarder. 👍

Have you looked at these ?

Another nice thing about 10/22, you can mail it to this address in Oregon, and they'll mail you a slight beat up Remington 597 for free.

I'll even throw in the extra magazines for free!

Now that's what I call a deal.

a6m5 .... bricks of 22LR are hovering in the high $20's to low $40's around here.
(manufacture pending of course, weekly sales, dealer pricing, yadda yadda yadda, how much can they get out of you ...... 'ya know ...... pricks) There is no reason on this planet why 22LR is so pricey .....

NONE !!!!! :grumpy:

I have also been buying 5.56x45mm in anticipation of buying a rifle in that. While still picking up 9mm when it is available.

I would not even know where to begin when it came to a .22LR bolt-action

I have. Slightly leaning towards the Carbine.

How many rounds are in a brick?

I have one box left of 100 rounds and that cost me $25 and they aren't even hollow points. And it was extremely difficult just finding those.

I still got thousands, because I haven't shot much lately. :guilty:

While those prices are doable(like we have a choice), they are high. How much were they before the shortage? Like I said, in Oregon, we are used to the pricing of the Remington bricks going for around $20. Were they ever that low where you are?

Last time I shot my Ruger SR22(.22 pistol), I started suspecting it doesn't like Federal I was feeding it. I just now thought maybe I should sell them, but my rifle eats them up no problem. It'd probably feed even more reliably in Oklahoma...... I'm just saying......

Well, if the current shortage proved anything, ammo can be a pretty smart & accessible investment. *cough*tax free*cough*

Me neither, but I bet it'd be so much fun. My coworker has a Marlin, I think.

Let me know how much the shipping is and I will reimburse you for the shipping cost.

Same ... basically. I can remember getting this stuff for around $10-$15 (on sale), before all the BS anti gun crap started.

How about 9mm ? Where are you guys at on this stuff ? We are @ $15-$20 p/box (again, stipulations pending) Seen it as high as $40 and $50 p/box as well.

7.62x39 is dirt cheap ..... $6.99 p/box ...... no limits either. We just purchased a 700 rd. box of Tulammo for $175 (split the cost ;) ). My kid and I stocked the living hell out of this stuff. We're up to around 3000 rds. and still growing.

Most of my .22LR, because I shop around, I was getting them for $15(black friday) to $18(membership store).

Damn it. I guess we may be able to start buying soon, but would be paying a lot more. :ouch:

Rest of the stuff, I've only looked at Walmart stock. 9mm is none existent. I've seen AK rounds couple of times, but they were Tula, and because it's Walmart, I think they were what? $5, $6 there? It was just slightly up from before.

Prices were steadily rising on everything from 12-gauge to handgun rounds in my area, even before it all started. I think only .22LR were still cheap around here, then crap hit the fan. I think handgun rounds are the first to disappear & still the hardest to find. .223/5.56 I think is still highly coveted.

I just hope we all start stocking up, so people stop clearing out the shelves at the store once the supply run low. I do have friends who go buy ammo, like the night before we go shooting, so they were totally screwed.

Yeah, they sort of got us where they want us with the pricing matrix's. I have to say though, it is coming back around to the good side of things ... slowly, but yet thankfully. 9mm is making a big comeback around here. It was brutal for a while, it literally was non existant. Several places around here have lifted the "quantity allowable" thing, while others are still holding to their 1 or 2 - 3 boxes. Kind of weird how some places have no limits, yet others are still being tight with it. The T-County link I provided is stocked up heavy on 9mm, 5.56, .223 and .22LR. This guy has got to be making some serious $$$.$$ .... hand over fist. Shotgun ammo, from what I am seeing is not horribly bad. It too jumped during the "crisis", but now the prices on it are starting to tumble. The skeet shooters are getting happy again .

Oh yeah, every weekend, between my kid, my wife, myself, we go out and buy some ammo. We are not going to get caught with our pants down again like we did on the .22LR stuff .... not gonna happen ! So yeah, stock up like there is no tomorrow, if you can do so.

I guess it would be too easy with the modern tanks. With the electronics & all...... :P

Old timer at work told me, "buy box of shells every payday". What a smart mother 🤬.

Shotgun ammo was never in short supply. Go into any Dick's SG any it's a whole aisle of them.

I laughed pretty hard at that one! Lol

The ammo is coming back around here. And I do not buy from businesses that sell ammo at boosted price. I'd rather wait until it gets on Wal-Mart shelves(rare but worth the money). There is 9mm here, but it is around $18-$24 and 45 is a crazy $26-36 for all target ammo. I remember getting my 45 hollow points for $32 after tax.

I am finding boxes of 9mm for prices that are the same or nearly the same as what they were before (~$0.24-$0.30 per round). I do not think Academy has changed their prices, but their stock goes very quickly, even with a limit on the number of boxes one can buy.

I buy as much as I can when I can. Me, my dad and our hunting buddies bought out the entire supply off the truck before it even hit the shelves.

We only got 13 boxes. That's how little there was on the truck.

Whoa! This will be the next BIG shooting sport! An awesome version of skeet shooting! Must try!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c9NQjE_q3U

Hahaha that is awesome! I've once watched miscellaneous videos of a tank chucking some huge artifacts afar like it launches a missile toward an enemy land, but I've never seen those tanks carrying on a skeet shooting as if sheer gunners do that by hand.

Has anyone here heard about or shot the 2 3/4 12 gauge B&P Thrill Shock slugs?

Just bought a box out of curiosity, the velocity listed on the box is whooping 1650 fps with a 500 grain Slug. :scared:

I also gave another stock the last linseed oil treatment, tiger stripe walnut.

I couldn't find it either. Thats how the box looks like:

thrill-shock.jpg

According to my calculation the slug would create 52 ft/lbs of free recoil energy with 23 fp/s recoil velocity in my shotgun. 308 creates a 12 ft/lbs recoil at 10 fp/s recoil velocity in a 9lbs gun.
Man, cant wait to try them out!

That's beautiful.

edit: Anyone see what happens when you fire a Keltec KSG? Wow, what a piece of crap!

I have not watched MAC's KSG video yet, but he has been overly thrilled with the RFB.

No, 12-Gauge they never ran out. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, I know my posts can get pretty busy.

Same, which may have given me the wrong impression of ammo availability.

I started thinking about my shoulder as soon as I read this, even before you compared it to .308.

I'm a total wimp man, but a very comfortable one. I have recoil reduction stock on my shotgun, and similar pad on my .308.

Used to hate firing 12-gauge, even with standard loads. With the Blackhawk recoil stock, it's just so much fun to shoot 12-Gauge, even with magnum loads. .308 didn't bother me a whole lot, but after firing few boxes worth, I could feel just a tad bit in my shoulder by the end of the day. After installing Magpul pad, now nothing. Like I said, a wimpy shooter, but a very comfortable one.

Yeah, that video has been around for a while. However, Keltec claim they've addressed the issues and the KSG now runs excellent. Doubt it, though.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see that was posted today. Looks like Keltec is the same company they've always been. Shame.

How a company with shaky reputation on traditional action decides to attempt at a shotgun design like that is beyond me. Damn shame indeed.
