How often do you use this car on the road?
How often do you use this car on the road?
Well that's all welded up haha. Have fun parallel parking. At least you'll get all your power to both wheels.
Any videos?
I didn't.. It went very well. The car felt fantastic, totally fantastic. Despite having a stock KA I felt it had enough power to have some serious fun and I felt the setup is exactly where I want it to be and it works for me. Nothing broke, nothing went wrong, just a solid problem free weekend of shredding tires. I don't have too many pictures or videos but here are some:Congrats on the rare goodies from the salvage yard. How did your drift meet go in post #187? You never posted videos or any info on the event.
Absolutely!Yeah junkyards rule.
There's an automatic convertible in East Bethel U Pull R Parts!Don't forget to look for FCs!
THATS how you update a thread! Glad to hear the event went well and thanks for sharing all the great pics. I would love to watch a drift event one of these days. I just never hear of any in my area. I bet its a lot of fun to watch or even participate in.
Get rid of all the zip ties, would look better 100x
Atleast hide them.
You've not improved this car sir. I mean it's your car and do whatever to it, but this is why it's impossible to find a decent 240 anymore.
You're missing the point. I've got no problem with people that don't have the money to spend on a car. In fact, in the first 2 years I owned my car, all I did was a manual swap to it. That's it. And it's taken my 5 years to get it to where it is. I'm used to seeing stuff like that pop up within a year or so. I don't make good money.I hope you know that, well....
a) I don't care
and
b) This car was never decent, the guy I bought it from is one of the biggest liars I have met. He covered up all of the rust when I looked at it, didn't tell me about any of the rust, this 240 is seriously one of the rustiest 240s I have seen.
For example, I went over a rough bump back in February and the rockers separated from the rest of the car. That's how rusty it is.
c) no money, no job, in high school
d) It's my third car and I'm younger than you think, it's not gonna be super amazing any time soon.
You know what, for who I am, I think I'm doing pretty damn good.
Also... I don't see how going from a weak stock 240 with lots of issues to a problem free 240 with coilovers, a welded diff, added OEM parts, and exhaust isn't improvement... Unlike you (now I'm not slamming you), I can't afford a ton of expensive parts. So I do what I can. I don't see why all the people with awesome cars feel it's alright to go and crap on the people with worse cars. Honestly, I look up to people with cars like yours, and people with driving skills like yours. But not you. I don't want to beat young kids down when they're starting out and doing everything they can.

That fender started falling apart, due to.. guess what... rust.I'm not knocking you for repairing the car or whatever else you've done. But. Why did you drill holes in your fenders and run zipties through them? Why did you attach your oem bumper to your stock car with zip ties? It fit much better and looked perfectly fine before. You ruined your paint on your headlights to do a sweet jdm rising sun on it. Where is your fuel door? Why is your hood white? Why are your factory wheels spraypainted purple?
I wanted to be different with my headlight cover. Fuel door bolts broke, because of..
And the same thing happened to the bolts holding the bumper on.
My hood is white because I needed to cover up the crap that was already on it, I'm not even going to keep this hood because it is messed up awfully.
I wanted blue wheels.
I don't see how I am degrading it.It's one thing to slowly build up a car because you don't have the funds, while in the meantime keeping it as nice as possible, but it seems to me you're spending time and money degrading the car, to the point where it started off cosmetically needing a paint job and some rust repair, but now, on top of both of those things, it needs significant work to return it to a "clean" car again because you've had a field day with zip ties, a drill and some spray paint.
I think you took that wrong, I meant I don't care about other people's opinions or views toward this car. I do care about the car, a lot. It's one of the few things I really have. But if people talk crap about it, it doesn't affect me because all that matters is if I like it and I do.You say you don't care, and that's fine, but how about not caring about what people think and making a car look nice, rather than beating it up and "not caring". Why does it seem every time someone pulls the "I don't care what people think" excuse, it's always to justify a beat up car? (well that, and big gt wings on drift cars lol).
Well I'm doing a very meaningful thing to the car by installing the exhaust I ordered tonight, I'd hate for you to see the exhaust as it is now because it's bad. Stock exhaust was falling apart anyway, so there.Again, I don't think it's alright to crap on people who have "worse" cars. I don't care long as you make an effort to keep it nice. I do think it's worth questioning why someone actively makes a car look beat up. My 2 cents. You don't make a lot of money, keep the car as nice as possible, don't succumb to cheap "mods" like spray painting random things because you haven't the money to get nice things. Just leave it alone. Save your money, drive the car and buy meaningful things that actually make the car nice. For example, save your money for a few months, a year, buy some wheels. They will transform the car and do more for it than everything else you've done to it cosmetically.
I'd buy wheels but I want to get a seat first.
The car never looked nice. Ever. The guy I bought it from painted it with a cheap paint gun made for a house, and he painted it because the owner before him spray painted the whole thing flat black. That same owner also took the lip and headlight surrounds off, and put that crappy exhaust tip. So it never looked good. I'm doing what I personally think improves the car. Hell, I've got a start with finding the headlight surrounds and lip. I think my poor old 240 is on a good path.
Thanks for your input.

I really don't drift much, like hardly at all. I have only done that one event, and I've got some hookups for cheap parts. So I think I'll be fine.But..... If people didn't do this. Young Kids like us wouldn't be able to afford them and fix them up .
I'm only saying this because I feel I'm really close to being in your shoes.
Forget about the drifting crap. Yea its cool but its not worth it. Especially the cost down the road. Driving the car around is fun also. Its fun when I do it but driving around in a car that looks like crap is a different story. Just wait later in life for the drifting stuff.
If anything YOU NEED TO GET A JOB D=. I know its possible to work during high school cause I was working 35 hours a week and still getting good grades. Once you get the Dinero save it and worry about keeping the engine running and making your car look nice. Save the money til you get something you really want.
Yeah it did
