I'm half tempted to get a different 240.
Half? Just?
I'm half tempted to get a different 240.
Anna+ReeceI'm half tempted to get a different 240.
This is REALLY REALLY easy to fix. An exhaust shop could do it in 15 minutes. Or you could do it in no extra time if you decide to buy whatever other piece you need and just replace both of them. An exhaust that's been welded together is not a problem lol.The idiot that owned it before me... WELDED the exhaust together.
(and PB told me that I ruined the car, LOLLLLL)
I get what you're saying, and I agree. It's good to be different. But I'll get back to this.Well.
I get it.
It's called expression.
Reece has the ability to express his chosen image through the medium of his car.
That's individuality.
And as everyone will tell you, all through your life; it would be boring if we were all the same.
I'm quite sure he will go on to achieve all kinds of greatness and through the years, own many different cars that he looks fondly at right now.
It's a fact of modern life though, that we are all able to express ourselves and our own individual opinions in a forum such as this one, and therefore what Pb said is correct, and what I say is also correct, according to your own, individual perspective.
This is the only sentence in here that is extremely inaccurate. Japan has a HUGE aftermarket, a lot of it which is VERY cheap. Seeing a car like Reece's would be extremely rare, and I don't mean this in any offensive way, it's just really hard to find anyone who retains a near stock look because of how ridiculously cheap the aftermarket is. Only recently has a "USDM" style emerged, but it mainly focuses on extremely clean stock bodied cars.VEXDReece's car would pretty much drop into the hills of Japan's touge routes and blend in.
Now back to what I was on to with the first part. I agree it's good to be different, but you'd be surprised how unoriginal this all actually is. It's so common, in fact, that they've come up with a name for it all. They call it the "American 'missile' crisis". They even have t-shirts.VEXDNothing wrong with deciding that you want your car to have that kind of style.
Creating that style comes from within.
There's nothing wrong with personal expression, as long as when you do it in public, you keep some clothes on.......
👍
I tried taking the silencer out... Wouldn't budge I might have the shop I bring it to try taking it out. Removing it, in some cases, supposedly increases power 3-7%.Oh I love a new Exhaust =] it looks so shiny. If anything remove the silencer. I don't think it makes a difference. I still have mine on and all it seems like it does is make it sound like a Honda (what others think, sounds like my old car to me) rather than make it quiet.
I only paid 80 bucks for a shop to do mine.
Also I hope your shift knob isn't aluminum. It's terrible in the hot and cold =[. Burned my hand one day grabbing it.
Just half. All the other 240s here are overpriced. Just like this one was.Half? Just?
Thank you very much. Some people just don't get that I want to be different with the car, and I'm happy at least one person is supporting it.Well.
I get it.

I'm going to insert my two cents here. Reece's 240 looked great stock. However, there's no pointin keeping a car stock if it's rusty and falling to bits. If you have to do a lot of work, might as well do it to make the car more unique and interesting, right? I'm not a huge fan of the current look, but it fits the car really well and looks a lot better than I would have guesed it would if you just described it to me. It's got a lot fo character right now, and I like that a lot. And considering the fact hat he has no job and the car is in terrible condition, I think he's done a fine job modifiying it. And if he likes it, that's really all that matters in the end. 👍
The cars that phrase is referring to aren't missiles, thats why I put it in quatations. Actual missile cars are different. And it's also worth mentioning, even though it's besides the point, that a missile can be a really nice car, and in fact should be nice if possible. Missile describes what is done with the car, not what it looks like. Also, to Perfect Balance, this car's not a missile. Oh lord no. Sure it's not some super fancy amazing thing like you'd find in Chicago, but it's not, and will not be, a missile. I simply haven't had the money to make it into everything I want it to be. At least not yet.
And that's fine, it's like I said in the first reply, it's your car and you do what you want. I just thought some things were questionable. You answered back and some of them I agree with, others I still don't understand. The rest of the time I was trying to correct people that misunderstood what I was getting at.Thank you, lots. Honestly that's pretty much how I feel about the car too.
I like my car. Far from the best 240 ever, but oh well.
When I was referring to a missile, I meant something like Ryan Tuerck's side car.The cars that phrase is referring to aren't missiles, thats why I put it in quatations. I look back at some of the things I have done to the car and question myself, too. Though it's definitely going to get better. Might take a few months, might take nearly a year. But I have new goals with the car.And that's fine, it's like I said in the first reply, it's your car and you do what you want. I just thought some things were questionable. I think PB's point was simply that the car has a lot of issues, and that it would make more sense to spend the money you spent on modifications fixing those issues before you went about adding your own "touch" to the car (correct me if I'm wrong). 👍
Well, despite the rust, I'm sure your 240SX's better than my friend's coupe. Originally bought it completely stock, small rust, Juniper green, then got into an accident. Then it really degraded. The owner before my friend (another friend that's part of our group who recently got another coupe, but two tone) crashed it into the back of another 240SX on the road. After that my friend crashed into a ditch. And a month ago, my friend hit a tree at a drift event. (Somehow hitting the one tree that grew in front of the fence and on his first ever tandem)
In the current condition, it's got some rust (can't remember the location, but mostly on the driver's side door) and the frame's...bent after his crash into a ditch. But yeah, just showing that yours isn't as bad as my friend's daily 240SX.
Unless he's got another sweet drift car, by definition, this car can't be a missile. It's also his drift missile
Bring a rubber mallet with you and just beat them from the backside until they come off. I run into this problem at work a few times a week.Anna+Reecethey were seized to the brake rotors. So I would have needed to take the rotors AND wheels, then somehow pry the rotors off the wheels. Yeah, no. Not putting that much effort into some wheels that I'm just gonna drift with.

You should definitely take off that muffler tip silencer.
I'm thinking about it. The only thing, cops around here are pretty strict when it comes to exhaust.

In many cases welding the exhaust is the BEST way to go. Not sure why you think its so bad to weld the exhaust. In fact the less welds you have, the more exhaust gaskets you will need and the more often you will have to replace them. You also have to worry about bolts coming loose or breaking. I have a solid welded exhaust on all my cars. Even my 2004 WRX has a solid welded exhaust from beginning to end. (I have pics of the exhaust work in my wrx thread) However we do have a stainless steel flex pipe to allow for the engine and exhaust to flex as necessary. Nothing wrong with welded exhaust at all if its installed properly. 👍The idiot that owned it before me... WELDED the exhaust together.

Welded the cat and midpipe together. Ugh.
This really pisses me off. My frame rails are shot, too. Rusted and damaged.
So I can't put the exhaust on, and I need to get some shop to do it.

Yeah you're right, and thanks! Good luck. Hopefully all goes well and you don't end up blowing out your coilover's pillow mountIt's all part of the game, man. Nice work on improving your driving, that's the main thing and having fun! I have a time attack track day on Thursday so here's hoping my car doesn't suffer as much as yours!
Honestly I think I was just upset and it was one of those "Heat of the moment" type things. Though if I find something I really like in the future, then maybe I'll weld that on.In many cases welding the exhaust is the BEST way to go. Not sure why you think its so bad to weld the exhaust. Oh jeez That sucks. And I thought I had a long winter ahead of me haha. Oh, the exhaust, yeah I took that silencer out tonight. SOOOOO much betterCongrats man. Motorsports events are addicting, thats for sure. I took my first hit of the track pipe this year and I really want to go back.
And as others have said, breaking stuff is part of the game. At the track I broke my car's VVT system and lost all high end power, and lost seal in the master cylinder. Had to limp the car home with very little brakes....
Race it, break it, fix it! Definitely fix that exhaust, it sounds uhh.... yeah... And just a thought on the previous page's comments: if you can't do it right, then don't do it at all. I've quickly learned this in the few months I've been messing with my integra.
I was only in that one part lol. I'll try to get a video up soon.Where else were you in that video? I started at the :33 mark and seen you drive by. Then I watched for a couple minutes but didn't see you again. Any videos of you drifting at that event?
