Pardon the tardy update on my behalf...

The first page has finally been updated.

Round 4
of the TT Competition has already been discussed and agreed up and will posted on schedule which is tomorrow (January 2nd) and will conclude January 5th, 2010 (The 2010 is just to break in the event to the New Year :D)

Well, seems the holiday threw me off just like a lot of people and here I was thinking it didn't, in any case...

Welcome to the fourth round of the RT Time Trial World Tour Competition.

Round 4 brings us to Silverstone GP, home to the British Grand Prix which was first hosted in 1947 and has become a permanent placeholder for the event since 1987

The competition is open to all players of NFS Shift but there are rules and regulations and as such will be described down below...

1. This competition is OPEN - You can use any vehicle you wish in Tiers 2 or 3.
2. You must use a vehicle that has an appropriate RT tune in either of the two tiers.
3. All assists must be turned OFF, except for ABS I can't judge that as I have it on myself, use such of your own volition.
4. Handling model must be set to Professional.
5. Damage effects must be set to Full.
6. Transmission is another to be decided amongst yourself.
7. NOS is not allowed.

Round 4 begins January 5th. Round 4 ends 11:59 January 8th.

- I must remind everyone wanting to participate that the competition is Open to everyone, despite missing the first two rounds and it will remain open until the final round. So, if you're looking to participate, please do.

- Congratulations to our a pole-sitter NITROVIOUS, if anyone wishes to discuss round 4 with him to get a better understanding, please PM him. Due to the recent dates falling where they have, this round has been postponed from it's original start date of today (as you can read above) to give participants enough time to prepare, contact NITROVIOUS and get a full understanding, and for said pole-sitter to set a lap around the track in the car of his choosing.

- Paid for in part by Renown Tuning.

OK my vision for this round is this :
run as many different tier 2 or 3 cars as you wish
be sure to report the car you drove when you report your time
only posted R/T tunes may be used
that's pretty much it, this round is not just about time, but finding out which cars are the best
all previous rules & regulations apply
works cars are ok :)

Oh, OK. This should be interesting. :D

1.43.750 LOTUS ELISE 111R works converted
this car has always been a favorite of mine, gets to 6th gear probably faster than any other car. best tier 2 car in my opinion. :) ( im 2 days early lol )

After adjusting the Z06 Works Vette for less downforce, it ran a 1:43.62, but it's capable of better than that. I just have to use a little more care not to step the back-end out!

Update: 1:42.99 Z06 Vette Works.

The Lambo Mercy is down to 1:39.85... This is pretty fun. Good pick NITROVIOUS

And I'm even less bright than NITROVIOUS!

This one will be interesting. I'll run some laps later with different cars and post my times. It will be interesting to see if tier 2 cars can out do tier 3.

Time trials were not my thing since the beginning, with this game,i think i'm more of a racing day driver style but this is sounding really good since i absolutely LOOVE Silverstone i think i might give it a try during the week...

Completly off topic i came across a few good drivers last saturday and i thought i might suggest you guys taking a look at scc a great driving game i think some of you might aprecciate...👍

Yes! Maybe you could send me a copy!

Because the brilliant minds at System 3 have apparently decided not to release Supercar Challenge in North America.

Ferrari Challenge was/is one of my favorite games and SCC is an updated and expanded version of that. I had planned to order it from the UK after the holidays, but I'm enjoying Shift so much lately (thanks to the group here), that there is little motivation to play anything else right now!

I ran 12 time trials today on Silverstone, one for each car I thought would be fast for this track.
No tier 2 car could out do the tier 3 cars, nothing beats horse power down the straights.
The times for the 3 lap TT.
Lambo LP640 (W) ---- 1.40.780
Corvette Z06 (W) ---- 1.41.500
Dodge Viper (W) ----- 1.43.210
Lotus Elise 111R (W) - 1.43.750
Nissan GT-R R35 (W) - 1.45.830
Ford GT ------------- 1.48.270
Audi R8 (W) ---------- 1.49.850
Audi TT 3.2 (W) ------ 1.50.140
Aston Martin DB9 ----- 1.51.000
Evo X (W) ------------ 1.51.400
Porsche Cayman S ---- 1.52.150
Toyota Supra --------- 1.54.480 The biggest personal disappointment out of all the cars.:grumpy:

I'll keep trying with the Z06 and see if I can get down closer to the LP640.
I thought the Lotus would have been quicker, but it loses to the big guns down the straights.

I recently saw someone point out on the EA forums that the Supra is bugged with too little torque transfer. Looking at the files it has

ClutchTorque=500.0
ClutchWear=0.0
ClutchFriction=10.00
BaulkTorque=575.0

Which is WAY down the charts. Like. You have the Veyron at 1750 at the top. You have things like the Civic, the Escort RS, the Mx5, the exige and elise lower than 500, and not by much, and they're much lighter. The audi S3 has 100 points higher torque transfer from clutch and baulk torque from gears.

Hopefully it gets fixed next patch.

The other thing people recently found is that it looks like drivetrain upgrades don't actually improve the baulktorque rating either, due to another typo, which means it's stuck there below some tier 1 cars. Whoops.

Wow, I feel so out of place here, being only 13 years old and unable to drink alchohol =P

Which has nothing at all to do with this thread.

Please don't spam the threads with off-topic posts.

Hi arvore,

Each round the winner of the previous round picks a car, the tuning to be used and a track.

The people competing run the track in Quick Race: Time Attack Mode with zero opponents and no assists (except ABS if you want it).

Because it's a Time Attack you only have three or four laps to get a fast time, so it's a bit harder than running a regular Quick Race. Terronium posted the rules on the first page of this thread.

NITROVIOUS won the last round, and being the rebel that he is , chose to let us choose any Tier 2 or Tier 3 car, fully upgraded to see who can run the fastest on Silverstone.

It's not neccessary to post a photograph, but it adds interest to the contest. I posted a couple of videos a few pages back that I took in the first couple of rounds. Just for the heck of it. :)

Man, another brutal time set by you in the Murcielago. :scared:

I slightly improved my Murielago Works Time to 1:39.63 (Track Record)
The Works Z06 Corvette ran a respectable 1:41.58 which could be improved I'm sure, but I don't think it'll quite catch the Lambo.

The Aston Marton DB9 ran a 1:50.42

This is a very busy week in Shift World!

One of the great things about this competition is how well you memorise the tracks we have run on. was racing with friends online @ road america, my car wasn't the fastest on the straights but from memory and sheer repitition i was able to overtake and win. i knew the braking points, where to gear down etc. kind of a nice by-product of this competition. :)

Absolutely! I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. The tracks that we've run so far, London River, Road America, Brands Hatch and now Silverstone are the ones I feel most confident on. I know the fast line because I've looked critically at every corner. Just one of the reasons I love this competition! 👍

And the competition loves you right back, the both of you.

Aside from that after the fifth and final round due to take place sometime before the week ends, I've already decided that the World Tour Competition 2 will be in the works, which will be totally different from what's been going on thus far. It'll still be a TT ordeal, which is perhaps the only unfortunate part depending on how you view it.

Some of the preliminary ideas I've had just aren't going to work; if Shift was similar to FM3 in any way I would offer credits as a prize, or perhaps a vehicle...but since I can't do anything similar to that I'll have to think on that one - any suggestions are welcomed. This time around the competition will be points based and minor flag rules will be implemented. Again, I won't be asking for video evidence to prove your lap time or that said lap was a clean one, all I ask is for honesty. However, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself the WTC 2 will go up toward the middle of the month.

I accept cash, traveler's checks, jewelry (real stones please), and unencumbered property. All else is negotiable.:)

Seriously though, I'm glad to hear the TT Comp will continue. If it weren't for the RT TT Competition, your excellent tuning setups and the good people who contribute to this forum, I'm pretty sure I'd have stopped playing Shift a month or more ago. And that would be a shame, as I'm really having a great time. 👍

Uhm...

Will you accept a Diner's Club card? 💡

FANTASTIC, and prizes to 👍 I'll be here for the next Time Trial.

The same here Manny, this is a great way to learn the tracks and I have improved my times so much since I started this TT competition, its been great.
I would not have stopped playing Shift, its a great game, but this competition makes the game much more interesting and great fun trying to beat the other guys.:)

Now to this TT, runs on Silverstone today were good, I improved my times in both the LP640 and Z06.
LP640 - 1.39.860
Z06 - 1.40.580
I don't think I will improve much more on these times, I'm on the limit in both cars. If I can pull a full lap together in the LP640, I may get another couple of tenths out of it.

You guys know EA have been running a real track time competition for the last couple of months? $30,000 on autotrader, $10,000 in runner up stuff, and a trip to canada for the losers. I mean, a trip to canada for the finals.

Sounds interesting, but I don't have that kind of money offhand, well, not yet anyway. Unless someone wants to rob a bank in the name of tuning freedom? No, ugh, I mean....unless someone wants to recommend we rob a bank Damnit, unless someone wants to suggest a couple of free prizes. I can't even think of anything. :ill:

How about a private custom RT tune - oh wait, there might be the odd competitor who wouldn't want that

If I don't win the TT Competition this week it's the frickin' pizza delivery guy's fault!

I'd run two laps out of the three in the Time Attack, the second was a 1:39.55 and I'd nailed the first half of the final lap and was up 0.5 seconds. I was on the back straight before Abbey... and the dog starts going nuts! The pizza guy's at the door!

Well to make a long story short, I screwed up the rest of the third lap when I resumed... At least the pizza was good! :)

You should have left the dog chew on the pizza guy for a little while longer and finished the lap. But then again, the pizza guy may have given your pizza to the dog to get him off. :D
