It will always be faster without TCS, ABS, driving aids and using a manual box, but far less forgiving if you get it wrong. Personal tunes to suit individual driving styles will also, no doubt be quicker. The point of this competition is to provide a level playing field for competitors so any advantage is gained through driving skill, not tuning skill.

First page has been updated with the results and the fifth and final round goes up tomorrow.

Welcome to the fifth and final round of the current RT Time Trial World Tour Competition.

Round 5 brings us to the revered Nürburgring Nordschleife, a track which was originally 14.7 miles long from 1927 to 1982 and was then shortened to the 12.93 mile long track we all know and love beginning in 1983.

This final round will be known as the Lap of Fire.

The competition is open to all players of NFS Shift but there are rules and regulations and as such will be described down below...

1. This competition is restricted to use of Tier 4 vehicles only.
2. The use of any Tier 4 vehicle shall be done so without the use of any tune, all vehicles must use the factory-applied settings.
3. All assists must be turned OFF, except for ABS I can't judge that as I have it on myself, use such of your own volition.
4. Handling model must be set to Professional.
5. Damage effects must be set to Full.
6. Transmission is another to be decided amongst yourself.
7. You must stay within the track, if more than two wheels touch any surface other than the track itself your lap time is invalidated and you will have to try again.
8. The Lap of Fire is limited to only 3 trial sessions, and your best time will be chosen from that which is presented.

Round 5 begins 11:59 PM January 12th, and will end 12:01 AM January 18th.

- Paid for in part by Renown Tuning.

Explain this part please. Because what i did understand is cars from Tier 4 only can be use (Veyron, Mclaren SLR, Mclaren F1, Zonda R, Zonda F, Reventon, Lexus LFA, Koenigsegg), and we can't use any setup available. That means Stock cars?

Terronium, you evil genius you...

That's a very cool twist you've put on things. Of course I may feel different as I'm sliding into the barriers but, I like it anyway. 👍

Nice.

Now the question is do I go with the faster but more lunatic cars like the Zonda and hope for a clean lap, or pick something slower and easier to drive and make up for it with fewer mistakes...

I gave up with the Zonda R, couldn't keep the bloody thing on the track, you can run around the track and stay on the black stuff, then it just takes one corner to get wrong and the lap is stuffed. There is so many corners to bugger up on and the dips and crest, the Zonda R doesn't like them at all.
I am going to stick with the Lamborghini Reventon, its not as fast but doesn't get unsettled in the corners and the other bad places like the Zonda does.
Has anyone given the Zonda F a run ?, I might give it a go, it might not be as bad as its big brother.

The Reventon is nice. The downside is it's a bit heavy, but I'll have to give it a try.
If you haven't tried the Carerra GT you should. It's a very sharp handling car. A bit less torque to worry about. On the downside there are a couple of spots where it JUMPS suddenly, but I think I can avoid them. It ran around 7 minutes for me taking it pretty carefully.
I'm so used to the McLaren I should try with it, but I don't think the stock settings make it a very friendly option.

You really have to drive these differently when you know you can't just keep hitting reset.:ouch:

Tedious, isn't it?

:P

Well, tedious would imply I'm not enjoying it, which I am, but definately more difficult with stock tunes. I just tried the stock tune Zonda R... I went off three times before I'd gotten 1/2 way round. Definately not used to the Zonda acting like that!
The problem is we're spoiled rotten!

Now, I may be having a senior moment because I got up too early this morning, but could someone clarify this for me?

We just do three laps and take our best one? We only get three chances to post improved times? Something else?

Either one of those two is right.

EDIT: I should point out, that if you invalidate your time by overstepping the track boundaries, you lose a session (seeing as you have to restart).

Basically, it's the old three strikes and your out analogy.

OK, seemed a bit odd as I'm used to time trials being as many laps as you wanna put into it. Thanks for the clarification.

Well some one must be first with his posted time.

I learn how to drive this car fast and now i learned how to drive it slow, it's amazing how stock car is different :scared: in handling from my beloved tuned Zonda R, but still i did manage squeezed some good time.

Well there's no point in me going any further with this then :grumpy:

Just to clear things out. There is no faster stock car then Zonda R. I did that lap in car from Stock Cars, not Shark one, but I want to make sure I have this right so i did chose my Shark Zonda R which is tuned by me for Nordschleife and is always ready to go on line and and go to Tune options, Hit L3 button and reset all settings. Then went to time trial and chose Zonda R from Stock Cars L1, at first i had problems with not going into curbs and stones part of the track because i don't want to risk of being disqualified. I did turn off brake line and turn ON ABS. Rest of the settings are according to rules, PRO mode, TC, and SC are OFF. Tomorrow i will try to make video of entire lap, quality would be bad but there will be an evidence of PRO handling mode, and TC + SC OFF, and a record time might be different if i go faster :sly:

So that's it 6:20:520 waiting for any challenger.

My first Time Trial out of three in the Lamborghini Reventon 7.33.090

My second Time Trial in the Zonda F 7.15.000

Third Time Trial to go, I'll try again with the Zonda F, I know there are a couple of places where I can pick up some time.

Drove the stock Zonda R around Spa for a long while to get used to that twitchy damn tune. I realized that if I dialed my accelerator sensitivity back I was less likely to lose the back-end in those twisty parts. That actually helped quite a lot once I got used to it.

Anyway, ran my first official Time Attack on Nordschliefe and made it around in 6:35.67 Some ugly parts in that lap, but never quite went off track. I got a picture in the camera, but since I've got two to go...

Hey Terronium! Are we allowed to practice on the Nordschliefe in Race Mode? I wasn't real sure if that violated the rules or not.

Nope. Tediousness is the name of this round. :P

I know a 6:11 was done with the Zonda R back when we were doing the Ring leaderboard thingy. So that's what's possible at least. It is by a wide margin the fastest of all the non tier 5 cars.

6:11 ?? !! :scared: this run must have been done after a lot of attempts, and good tunning. There is no way that i could go that fast after 1 practice. I did 9 seconds slower driving very carefully and putting less throttle during second attack. My first try was 6:23:xxx

But 6:11 !! someone must absolutely fly out there, even for me that's very impressive.
