^Thats because there was soooo much hype for this game and once some things were getting answered and people started playing it, it didn't live up to the huge hype it had.

Sounds about right in this day and age for a company to make a big hoopla about their games release it with a few "additions"(when it's really bug fixes) and then move on to another project to get more of your money.

They made GT3 only 1.5 years after GT2 with superb graphics & it received best reviews in Racing Genre after GT1 :(
Games nowadays cost more to make and take longer to make a good game. It is even longer to make a game with the expectancy that it will be a Triple A title. A GT6 would take at least three years to make even if they don't start from scratch.
For me anything PD do that isn't Gran Turismo series is a total waste of PD time and assets that would be better spend working on Gran Turismo series.
I hope you weren't trolling. I'd hate if such a great company focus only on Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo, and more Gran Turismo. While one of my favorite franchise, it doesn't mean it can't get stale eventually, so I'm hoping this it's something new from Polyphony Digital as they have the potential to make great Triple A titles.

I don't think a developer in this generation of consoles can do anything other than concentrate on one franchise give the amount of time development takes. If you want to do a second game type, it would be better to farm it out to another team.

Well almost every game released will dissapoint some people .Never seen PD say something like that though.

Yes but PD didn't say it, the source said it regarding the details to be announced.

127 events is far from bad ,GT5 is still a Brilliant game (not a complete dissapointment at all .

No one ever said it was a ''complete disappointment''... You are the only one who said that.

And yes, 127 A-Spec races is crap compared to well over 500 A-Spec races in GT4. That is a huge disappointment in and of itself.

Some people don't just accept everything Kaz/PD does as perfect and without fault. He obviously screwed up when considering how many races to put in A-Spec. There's also a lot of other little things that GT4 had that GT5 doesn't, multiple setup saves being just one example of a glaring omission in GT5 that is a disappointment. There are a lot more things like that, that are missing in GT5.

Don't refuse to acknowledge problems in GT5 and just expect everyone to believe GT5 is the greatest racing game ever. In some ways it is great, but in other ways GT5 is hugely lacking, it's obvious if you don't cover your eyes.

...

Whilst you're right that modern games do take a hell of a lot of time and effort, at least the big titles, anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with dabbling with little side projects.

That's possibly how TT started in the first place, just as a small after-hours project to see if GT could be adapted to use motorcycles. Then, eventually, it must've looked fairly promising, so a small team was assigned to push it out once GT4 was finished with. It's great to work on something different every now and then, or else you just get tired of the one thing and that's when standards slip. It's about balance, as usual. The experience gained from these excursions can often help with the main task, anyway.

I wouldn't at all mind if PD try something completely different. As long as it's good :P

Oh well thanks for clearing it up mate.

IT is a faulty game Yes, but if You don't think as a whole package this game is not a great racer than I don't agree with that .To each his own I guess and maybe that's what they mean that it did dissapoint some people (you included)so lets wait and see what it means .

I think they will make an announcment at E3 to you know kind of steal the show from a certain other racing game.:sly:

Faulty is the wrong word to use and I wouldn't expect anything to do with gt6. Gt5 doesnt need to be replaced with a new game anytime soon. The game just need fundamental updates, for example more races to compete with the amount of cars:tup:

I think GT5 as a whole is a great driving sim/game.. But it does have some problems. Hopefully Kaz/PD will continue to work on those problem areas.

Case in point?

I kinda want it to be GT5 for NGP, or an events DLC (WRC, Group B, DTM, FIA GT all possible?) with new cars, new (or old) tracks and a LOT of new events

The Batmobile!!

^ I don't see that as a bad idea Spacegoat! ;)

-> There are too many variables that PD might do that time:

- Many are speculating for the Tourist Trophy sequel...
- Few are speculating for a GTPSP sequel for the NGP...
- Some may be thinking an Omega Boost sequel...
- A group of groupies are contemplating for either a GT6P or a full-on GT6...
- And couple of individual are gunning for the next Motortoon...

^ Wow, this would be a doozy if you ask me... :boggled:

-> But I would like to see on what GT5 can be done of PD could stretch a bit more:

Adding this rumor to KY speach at GDC, it looks like GT universe type of game. In my worst nightmare it will be PS move waving and walking around the room in the most epic community type fail game since PS HOME :) PD make top games/products and this surely is interesting.

I'm supprised no one has thought this could be kaz's rpg game idea.

Case in point?

Who?

If you mean GT5, that was released too early according to Kaz. Despite that, I think GT has been hurt by Kaz's recent insistence to cater for the casual, pick-up-and-play game-style. It seems he has simultaneously forgotten about the rest of us, and in the process GT5 lost some of the magic of GTs of old.
GTPSP was clearly a much bigger task than they anticipated, but it's still GT - so what I said doesn't apply as much, if at all. It did help GT5 in part, I have no doubt about that, what with various optimisation techniques being borne from it. There's almost no way TT hurt the production of GT5.

As I said, I'd be very happy to see PD trying something different. As long as it's good.

Yes Griff, something completely different but extremely bad wouldn't be desired by most I reckon ;) and about this RPG, didn't Kaz recently gave some speech about exploring life and death in videogames, in fact I remember Amar creating a thread discussing this but I didn't really follow it that closely.

As much as I would be interested in what Kaz and PD could create outside the genre of driving games (and Omega Boost, which to me always sounds like a souped up Opel given the context PD is known for ;)) I do really hope it's the sequel to Tourist Trophy, especially the perhaps coincidental year between release of GT5 and something which could be build using its existing game structure (just like TT and GT4).

I really loved Tourist Trophy despite the limited content and thought they nailed the bike physics apart from some flaws (although I'm not a biker in real life) and would really love a new one with hopefully more content.
Not sure if it would (commercially that is) justify the same time and resources as for example a full GT-title though, given that the original TT wasn't as commercially succesful as a GT-game normally is but since they mainly have to build on an already existing structure it wouldn't perhaps take that long anyway.
Ah yes, Premium bikes will take forever to model I guess, at least the Standard bikes will have "cockpit view".:D
