Rumour: Yamauchi won't talk about GT5 at E3 !!

As sad as it is, I believe we must face the possibility that SONY has sold out GT5 on the PS3 in favor of bringing GT to a glorified cell phone game player. (PSP)

Since other than amar's info, all other sources, credible or not, indicate and equate to this being the odds-on favorite. In a few hours we will know for sure.

If this turns out to be true, it will be (as it says in the GTP news post)
"a tough pill to swallow"

If so, I do not blame amar or KY. This is a SONY pushed decision and it would be difficult for any of us to have believed. I personally would not buy a PSP under any circumstances that I know of, however the bean counters at SONY must have calculated that millions will.

My only recourse would be to suspend purchase of any PS3 games, since this will be my only avenue to protest such a decision by SONY. And that is exactly what I will do.(at least until GT5 is released)

I keep all the dissing and flamming for later, if GT5 really isnt presented at E3.

Uhhh I think if they don´t announce a GT5 later then this forum got to be closed immediately for less a week or the negative energy here will let our computers explode :D

For me,life will be go on... maybe I take a look every two or three days here and try to forget GT5 till the next winds are blowing...

I will enjoy the great summer here in germany,go to holiday,spent time with friends and relax... So everybody here got do this too...

Pretty anxious atm, :S, but I have really thought into this, if we dont get anything from the E3, that pretty much means no GT5 for atleast another 12 months , which is pretty depressing i have been anticipating this game since about mid 06 in GT HD form back then.

That's my take on things. This presentation will have a heavy emphasis on the new psp and the new psp software. It could be that Sony only wants Yamauchi answering questions about GT mobile because of this. We could still get news on GT5 even if this rumour is true. I wouldn't be surprised if we get some very good information about GT5 that is snuck into the GT mobile presentation although I think that a combined GT5/GT mobile presentation to present the strengths of both and interplay between the two would make the most sense.

Another option is that Sony is overconfident with respect to GT5 and is going to completely ignore it in favour of promoting GT mobile. I don't think that would be wise at all.

No sense getting worked up over it. We'll just have to wait and see.

hard not to get over worked have been waiting for 3 years :D.

Sure I would love PD to release alot of information at E3 about GT5, but to be honest i personally would be happy with a release date. All the rest eg car list, tracks, weather, damage, screen shots, video etc would be a bonus. As a fan i've got used to waiting. I'm sure when GT5 finally comes around i'll be happy with it.

And now for a reallity check.
My wife has been in hospital for the last two weeks, her condition, MS means that this will be an occurance for the rest of our lives unless a cure is found. All going well she is due to come out on Friday :).
The only positive out of it is that I have taken time of work to look after our two boys aged 6 and 3 and it means i get to spend alot more time with them.

The worst of it is every day when I take the boys to go and see their mum we have to walk past the childrens ward. To see some of the really sick kids in there with cancer etc is truly heartbreaking. You should try explaining that to a 6 year old.

I didn't write this for sympathy for myself or my family but just to put some perspective on the discussion in this thread. What is really being discussed here is will we get some information and information only on GAME (albeit the best game series in history IMO) soon.

GT5 will blow the majority of us away when it finally gets here i'm sure. I know it's been along time coming but it will be worth the wait.

Sorry to hear those news :S, yea many things in life are worse then waiting a few years for a game, and I personally am quite annoyed at this game taking this long but your post made me think again, it is only a game.
But good night everyone, its 12am here :( australian time, cant stay to watch e3 got school in morning but I will check beforehand and see if any new zelda games are comming and then check the sony side of things ;), I hope I show up to a forum full of release date info :P.
 
Man, i wish you and your family all the best, i know where youre coming from since i have a huge handicap for myself. The difference is that gaming is one of the few things i still can do thats why im also a bit more emotional when it comes to this. ;)

gundalini. I will say a prayer for your family and your wife. It may not be much but every little bit helps. I know what it is like to see a family member in the hospital, my thoughts go out to you.

Guys GT5 is coming whether you like it or not.

For those that can't stand the wait... please get a grip. Do you know how long Street Fighter fans had to wait for a new version? 12 YEARS! (sure there were spin offs and "new versions" but truth be told they were all the same). 12 YEARS! That is more than double the wait for GT5. Guess what TONS of people bought SFIV (most on the PS3 no less). Sure some bought other fighting games and I am sure others ditched the series but guess what they missed out. As proclaimed fans of GT you really should be ashamed. Rest assured, if you truly like GT then when GT5 comes out you will buy it, no matter what the release date is. Did Boston Red Sox fans stop loving their team for the 86 years of their world series drought, NO! 86 freakin years! As a Yankee fan sure I am disappointed but that is remarkable. More examples: the wait from MGS3 to MGS4 was about 4 years. Was it hard, yes. But I stuck through it knowing that Kojima would pull through even if it took a while. And look at MGS4, its one of the best games ever made (IMO). Same with Killzone 2. GT5 is this kind of title. So quit your whining and wait till 11:00PST today.

Ditto. I've always got GT4 to play with (the greatest driving game UNTIL GT5 comes out, sorry Prologue boys! ;)), there's still things to do on that game for a while yet with me atleast. When GT5 comes, then I'm going splurging. :cool:

And while I understand that Amar's clues may not come true due to unforeseen circumstances he has never lied to us in the past. To me that is worth something.

I don't even consider it a lie anyway, even if the release date isn't announced. As he said, he might have just got some bum information about the release date. But so far he's been VERY CORRECT (remember his sixth wind people!!) so my faith in Amar is still standing strong. 👍

I'm pretty sure we're all here because we are passionate about racing games, be it GT5, Forza or any other game. If we weren't, why would we bother spending the time coming to a forum to talk about it? :P Thus, its clearly important to many of the people here.

I want GT5 to come so I can actually play the bloody thing :P The people who "waited" 12 years for a new street fighter, I'm pretty sure they just forgot about it for about 10 of those years, or like Duke Nuken Forever, most people just lost interest. The fact people are complaining just means they are still enthusiastic about the game and actually want to see and play it! I see it as a good thing :P

At the moment I think FM3 will be better than GT5... ya know why, its actually got a dang release date in the near future! I know I'll actually be able to get my hands on it and play it in a few months.

People always said you can't compare FM2 to GT5P because prologue is basically a demo and you'll have to wait until GT5 comes out... but the fact is the game I can sit down and play now is better than a game that will be out in an undefined period of time :P
 
Sony will be shooting themselves in the foot if they decide that the PSP Go! and GT Mobile are going to be more important then GT5. GT5 is going to move PS3 units like hot cakes, I remember purchasing my PS2 with GT3 and it was one of the reasons it did so well.

If Sony wants to have as big of an impact as Microsoft did at there E3 showing yesterday, Sony will have to showcase everything well. That means we need to see God of War, the rumored Big Boss MGS game, GT5, PSP GT, PSP Go!, Slim PS3 and more.

And to the poster who said it took 12 years for Street Fighter's sequel to get released. I'd say that Street Fighter doesn't exactly have the same type of following the GT series does.
 
Remember a while back when Kaz said about GT5 that we could be in for a suprise...

...the suprise is they've been concerntrating on GT mobile for the PSP and GT5 had been put on hold for the last couple of years!!

Just a very bleak thought, but in all seriousness I'm going to buy it whenever it comes out, and it would be nice to have a date, but if we're still left in limbo it's not like there isn't plenty of other decent PS3 games to keep us going until it finally arrives!!

Thanks man, I try. Most people do not realize that if they get a 360 and or Forza 3 they will be playing with a controller. And it can be the best game ever but guess what, any racing game sim IS NOT A SIM without a wheel. Sure you can still have fun but its not a sim. I have nothing against the Fanatec wheels it is just that you will have to pony up at least $360 to properly play Forza 3. With GT5 most of us have a wheel and a PS3 so yeah. So if thats ok with you, fine, but honestly when GT5 comes out, all I will loose is some time and $60. Think about it.

Yesterday, Ms released news that the new Metal Gear Solid game featuring Raiden was going to be on the 360, and all of a sudden the Playstation crowd were all like
OH NOES!!
and saying Kojima betrayed them, and said some pretty evil things about him. Even though he was going to be giving a SONY press conference the next day. Somehow in the fog of oh noeness a bunch of them forgot that part.

And Ms shows footage of FM3, and a bunch of GT fans are all like
OH NOES!!
as if they had no clue that Forza even existed prior to that point.

And I'm just like

Okay, I own Forza 2, and it's a nice racer. It's buggy as heck, as is the 360, it was rushed just like FM1 was. It was too small, and half the promises Turn 10 made about it, they broke. I got REALLY sick of that Test Track. I hated the fact that the only DLC that worked in single player were the cars, because online racing is an even worse minefield than it is in Prologue. And the car packs were pretty lame, like, think "Skylines" and apply that to the DLC cars. The physics were pretty nice, but every car oversteers, and the bugs drove me up the wall. Just like every Ms product, it had to be patched forever, and some bugs like with the livery editor, they wouldn't even talk about.

Okay, so maybe most of you have never been exposed to Forza 2 before, so an oh noes!! makes some sense. I guess. But being aware of what FM2 is, I just cringed at Forza 3. They made it look like Project Gotham, which I cannot stand that game series. The stunt video was just painful. Wow... Need For Speed lack-of-physics confirmed? And they STILL can't have more than eight freaking cars?!

OH NOES!!

People, get a freaking grip. This is what Forza 2 should have been. FM3 isn't a threat to anything. Yes, it will be a nice game, kind of like an hors d'oeurve if GT5 doesn't appear till spring of 2010. Like NFS Shift and Dirt 2, or have you forgotten them already? And let's face it, how many of you were sure that THIS time, GT5 wouldn't be delayed? ;)

And I'm just sayin', because no one noes!! But a bunch of you act like Kazunori told you himself with puppy dog eyes that GT5 will be delayed till after Duke Nukem Forever ships - and personally, I hope someone picks it up.

And what really freaks me out is that some of you are writing the PS3 off as a failure. Even with a higher price tag, it's selling faster than the 360 was at this point. Remember, the 360 was out a whole year earlier, but not only is Ms unpopular around the world, the 30% failure rate really hurt it. Chronos moped that Killzone 2 only sold 1.5 million copies... after three months?! :lol: Guys, it's selling right along, and Metal Gear Solid 4 sold more than 4 million copies within it's first year. Seriously!

So anyhow, some of you need to grow up. There are other games. Enjoy them. There is life. Enjoy it. While you can. Gundalini's post should make you all stop and think for a moment, because we all have this fatal condition known as mortality.

Could not agree more.

Don't get me wrong, like everyone I am excited at GT5 news.
But I am not getting stressed that Turn 10 have shown FM3, and that it might be released before GT5.

And I love that people that speculating that FM3 might be better than GT5, when both are not out yet!
And that everyone is stressing that Kaz might not talk, when it is a RUMOUR, hence the name of the thread!

We will know soon, so wait! :D

Has GT5 been officially announced? or has everything been unofficial? There is an unannounced Sony game being presented tomorrow evening. What are the chances that it is GT5? I would assume that it is something fairly close to release. We may have yet another day to wait.
 
Be sure we have to! Or do you think GT is the most important thing for Sony? so they don´t introduce themselves and start quickly a GT5 trailer?

Not to forget the fact that better is a very personal, emotional reaction, like saying "Band X is better." It's really subjective.

Some things, Turn 10 did really right. The customization and race modding, along with a very good livery editor is just wunnerful. The performance changes are pretty distinct, even if they might be exaggerated.

Other stuff is kind of a mixed bag. The engine and exhaust sounds are great. The tire sounds are awful, at least in FM2. Unrealistic oversteer combined with lame driver views give me fits taking turns. You can usually whip around turns much too fast, which is exhilarating, I must say, but less than authentic. Speed is hyped too much to be realistic. And as I said, bugs. Bugs, bugs, bugs! Wondering if the 360 is going to crash at the Auction House and get me permabanned on a Live account I'm paying for isn't a thrill. Especially if I'm bidding on a hot, unique car. And the thought of being limited to the same eight car races as the original XBox is just... bleagh.

So, better? For a Forza fan, more than likely. For anyone else, that's up to them.

As for the SONY conference, I'm going to be all over it. Like I say, I'm hyped up for about half the games coming out. I'm a HUGE Ratchet & Clank fan, and Uncharted is looking like a dream come true. Plus, Team ICO's amazing looking game, and the surprise announcements... I can hardly wait. Christmas finally came! :lol:
