And if the causal gamer or GT fan has already left to pick up Forza 2 or has decided to go with 360/Forza 3 instead of PS3/GT5, then good riddance. If you're willing to settle for second best in video games then I'm sure your willing to settle for second best in alot of things in life.
It's not like PD is sitting on thier hands or development has screeched to a hault.
According to Amar when the game is ready it will be huge. Compare the PS2 GT games to the PS3 GT games.
GT3 came out with 150 cars, while GT4 had 600+.
I think PD has decided to skip the GT3 phase for the PS3 and they are spending the extra time to go straight to the GT4 phase, as including all the cars and tracks they have a license for.
I'd rather them do that, then release GT5 lets say last year with 150 cars, and a dozen tracks, only to, like Forza, release a new game 2 years later with features, cars, and tracks that they didn't have time to include. Or worst, release a majority of the game via DLC.
amar has said GT5 will be the feast of the Gods, so is there any reason to think GT5 will not be worth the wait?
How much longer do you think the average GT fan will wait? How long can you wait? Take a look at Duke Nukem Forever! That game have been in development for so long that no one really cares for it anymore. All those Duke Nukem fans have probably grown out of loving that franchise and found other new franchises to enjoy now.
Amar says this! Amar says that! Stop buying into the hype Amar says, seriously. 4-5 years is a long time to wait and what have we really got? An overpriced demo, pictures, and trailers. I don't care how credible Amar is, GT5 is not a feast of the Gods until it get in our hands. Many developers will go on and on about how great their game is and how sucky the competitors are. It is a normal thing to do when marketing.
PD should have done something like Blizzard. They know how to hype and show. When there is some gap in information, they hype again at big shows like E3 and Blizzcon. Even if they delay it, they still show the fans what they have done so no one is worried. When the game finally comes out, it hits the competitors face like a freakin truck!
PD should have been releasing new pics and videos overtime to keep the customers interested. With this long of a silence, all we got is topics like "What cars do you want in GT5?", "Should damage be in the game?" Pretty soon, we will all get tired of the same thread and slowly grow out of Gran Turismo. We will finally take the time to actually drive to a race track and race. When that game finally comes out, we will probably be having too much fun at the real race track to even buy it.
