The cars don't get as "dirty" in gT2 as in other games. They lose like 2% of their shine...that's as dirty as they get. Therefore the carwash barely has to clean them.

Where did you find that screenshot with the Escort on it?

It was from Gamespot from way back when they were previewing GT2.

I don't Know if this has been mentioned before, but I was playing GT2 last week, and I noticed something strange at Laguna Seca on the Corkscrew.

you know where the exact point where the twist happens? well, I Happen to spin out, and I noticed a sign (it's NOT an Advertisement) that says, DON'T PASS US BY! and under it was two pictures that looked like cartoon characters, but i couldn't make it out very well.

Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera, so I don't have proof, but does somebody know the story behind this, and if so, can you please help figure it out? any help would be greatly appreciated.

No...but now you got me curious. I'll fire up GT2 sometime this weekend just to see if i can find what you're talking about.

EDIT: I found a few more pics of the CLK GT-R.

I remember these screens actually from a few different magazines at the time, though with as many cars as GT2 offered I never realised they didn't actually include the car in the final game! Nice find.

I remember that too, from the GT2 demo offered with some magazines. You could scroll through many of the car lists and the Escort appeared there. It's a pity that car never made it into the game, I was a fan of the Escort GTi at the time, nice looking car:

Quite surprised they've never included an Escort of any kind apart from the WRC car.

I agree. Why include the entire model line (Ka, Puma, Mondeo, Cougar, Mustang) but skip the Escort? Confusing. I did get to race an Escort in Ford Racing's first PS1 release.

That CLK-GTR is killer . Hope it's in GT5.

You can probably bet it is going to be.

About the Escort...I do believe the Gti was indeed supposed to be in the game. Chances are that they added too many cars and PD didn't want to go over a certain 'memory limit' and decided to just dump the road Escort, even though it appeared in the demo. :odd: As for an alternative version for the Escort, the Cosworth RS would have definitely been the best option. But I think I might have realised why they would just remove the road Escort, lack of memory for any more cars, meaning they would have to 'trade out' some cars and put some different ones in the game. This may also be the case for the CLK-GTR and the reason why you can cheat to unlock some cars that may well have been left out of the game, i.e. CLK Race Car.

Yes, there is a sign with a message DON'T PASS US BY!
One of the pics show a few Formulas 1 starting, but the other one is the logo of a cartoon, I don't know what cartoon it is.

I decided to have a look at this sign as well.
It appears in GT3 too,but not GT4, so I took some screen shots in case someone can help with more info.

The GT2 shots are pretty low def as you would expect, the GT3 ones are better and maybe someone can photoshop them or clean them up enough to work out what it is.

Damn PD paid too much attention to details . Maybe during GT2-3 era that sign is present in the real track but then they removed it so PD removed it from GT4? Could anyone that have been to the real Laguna Seca confirm this? And I think the picture is showing Champ Cars (they did races there IIRC), while the cartoon on the right is the logo for the series. As for "Don't Pass Us By" maybe it's just a catchphrase like "Don't Miss The Race" or something.

Good spot though, I've driven Laguna maybe 1000 laps but I've never seen that sign.

NO WAY!!! That billboard was there when i went to the '99 ALMS race. It's a photo from the '96 Champcar race, the one where Alex Zanardi passed Bryan Herta at the Corckscrew on the last lap to win.

In the mid 1990's, probably 1996 or 1997, I ran on foot around Lagune Seca twice, for an American Heart Association fund raiser. When descending the corkscrew on foot, it's difficult to keep your rhythm and even balance; I wasn't looking around much. So I neither saw the sign, nor didn't see it.

Maybe I should have enlisted in the "walking" option of the event.

Sounds fun. :) What was your average lap time? Did you use soft sneakers or superhards?

Well, we did two laps, but each lap included an extra loop south of the main straight to make it 5km each lap. Average lap time of those two laps would have been something under 25 minutes. I wore Saucony International Control.

No pics. I don't think I took any pictures of that conference trip at all. I didn't walk down the corkscrew, I ran. It hardly seems like a corner when running. The hill dominates the turn, and you just pick a straight line through it. I didn't feel like I was going to slide down or anything, but it's steep enough that it's difficult to run at a normal pace, so you slow slightly. Or, at least reduce your effort.

 I'm wondering if anybody fell and tripped over each other like alot of cars do in GT2 as they try & go down the corkscrew!

Well...

The field was very sparse. Unfortunately for the Heart Association there was a sanctioned race somewhere else nearby that weekend, and so all the serious runners were out there. I was in second place for most of the run, and only dropped to third at the end when they guy trailing me put on a spurt at the end. Now, I shouldn't really be coming third in any 10K race!

So there wasn't enough traffic for runners to be tripping over one another.

It might be my imagination, but it seemed the poor turnout made them a little grumpy when serving the pancake breakfast aftewards, too.
