Very interesting, did it appear on a rare occassion? This is what I used to think when I heard a Polo would appear in the event sythesiser.

I believe you are talking to Samgt? If you're wondering how I drove the Polo, I got it from some save off the web, don't remember where.

I just started a race in "Normal Mode" and there it was, it's the first time I see it, and God knows how many races I did with the event creator  Pretty intriguing...

I don't know if this has been discovered or discussed before, but I found more evidence that the palm strip was going to be on GT2. In the little intro movie, there's a part that quickly shows the names of some tracks and in a split second, I saw Palm strip show up. I took a picture too!

EDIT: Got a better screen shot

It's not Palm Strip it's "Plam" Strip. ;) And yes, this "track" has been addressed in this thread quite a lot. I'm not sure what conclusion everyone has come to though. I haven't been keeping up here at GTP like I used to.

Is it just me, or the demo's interface and menus look better than those in the final game?

very early stages of the game, PD was never good with playable demos
So they ended up just using the interface/menus from the previous GT.

Then again, that's all they had back then, not much to fall back into. :yuck:

I had that demo, and I remember the turbo whistle being EVEN lauder than it turned out to be in the final game! :dopey::dopey: but on the other hand...the interface of the game in general was horrible. What I did like, was the use of real brochure photos of the cars in their dealerships. I believe the final version just uses rendered photos of the 3D model in the game.

Also, Used Car at the Ford dealership? Or just the beta menu and they didn't remove the function for the Ford garage?

They planned to have used cars in every dealership, I think Xenn found a oil gauge or something hidden in the game or something. Think if they had oil changes in GT2, that would've been cool.

Ohhhh a used Ford garage would have been superb. Mks I and III Escort, Cortina, Sierra, Capri... for us Europeans of course.

I'm unsure how Vector or Lister would have had a used car dealership. Maybe there would have been exceptions.

GT2 to me is like GT5 v1.0.0 (The version I'm still on); a great game, but it could have been so much more if it wasn't rushed and more time was taken to include everything that was supposed to be included.

Yeah, if they would've taken another 6 months to finish the game completely, we would've had drag racing and sales would've been even better.

And owning and still using both GT2 and GT5 v1.0.0 is quite a frustrating thing.

i Just Looked into the Pizza Hut Disc Two [SCUS-94481] GT2.VOL

and found out that they were going to have a HKS FF DRAG CELICA but they don't have it in the final version ?

The hidden cars you listed are already known (by me, that is), I found them quite a while ago.

Aswell as the hidden courses, I had videos on them too but they were wiped out. I'll re-upload them at some point.

And yes, that's gzip compression, if you have WinRAR you can unpack those files.

And I did indeed.

(Some are being uploaded as I speak, so not everything will be there right now).

-> Wow, even though I was waaaaayyyyy late for the party. I've read the whole thread from page 11. :)

Found some images on a Gamespot site

Looks like some kind of early build of one of the Tahiti courses. But it's at night, weird. It also looks like SSR11 was meant to be in

^ That Tahiti night course is somewhat like Maze or Route 3 because of its busy 'barrio' landscape. I have to play GT2 again to see where is this from.

^ Oh my 🤬 Jeebus!!!! SSR11 WAS ON GT2!? This is big, very big news!!! How come I never noticed this back in the day!!!! (screaming like a girl)

^ Hmm, based on this video:

(also found on my >MISSING< Tracks thread)

^ Plam Strip may be a one-way Bonneville-like speed course. But since SSRX is here (in GT5); the relevance of this track might be a lot less, but still significant! :indiff:

^ I wonder if someone other than Xenn can unlock these files...

I might be wrong but is that the Celica in GT4 that's also made by HKS?
^ No, that Celica was made by a tuning company called Trial.

-> I could've imagined a full roster of HKS Drag Cars in GT2... :indiff:

SSR11 was only included in pre-release development versions of GT2. For whatever reason it was removed from the release versions of the game that were sold to the public. So you won't find any trace of it in the game via normal means.

Palm Strip was intended to be a drag-strip for the Drag Racing mode that had to be cut from the game as it wasn't completed in time. I'm assuming you believe it was going to be similar to Bonneville because of the dirt-driving physics? Really, that is how unfinished Palm Strip is. They didn't even get a chance to lay the tarmac!

^ Either way SSR11 '90s is now considered as a missing track in GT2 and hopefully in some way Xenn can do his magic of resurfacing SSR11 '90s in GT2. :nervous:

^ If Palm/Plam is intended as a Drag Course is surely did as a 1/8 mile course, because based on the video it seems like the Elise didn't even reach 1/4 mile.

The SSR11 pictures came from the E3 build in 1999. I haven't been able to find traces of it in the early demo I got, which seems to be a few months later I believe.

Edit: A curious find while looking in the early demo.

I found this while looking through one of the Alfa Romeo cars (The spider I believe). I can't tell if this is another Alfa car, or a completely hidden one.

Oh man, it seems GT2 is 75% hidden, 25% public! From what I can build out, it looks like an Evo. but misplaced in the Alfa-Romeo category. Now only if Kaz could answer our questions.

Also, if you look at the list codingasm gave, it mentions "SOK Mclaren GTR". So maybe there's the origin of the missing Mclaren? :odd:

The Mclaren looked like this:

Unfortunately the texture doesn't seem to match this.

It's the Alfa Spider (but quite an inaccurate one), I compared this to some images on Google, mainly this one:

^ Hmm, it may not be the Spyder after all. Its from the GTV coupe:
